You didn't upset anyone.

To me it's not serious. I'm not going to treat it like it's serious.

What gets me upset is people trying to make those defending Fox (you know, normal fans) out to be the bad guy.

"Fox Mafia." Give me an entire f***ing break. Next they're gonna tell me that people who like to breathe are the Oxygen Mafia.
(Using my best Samantha Stevens voice imitation): Welllllllllllllllll...............😂🤣

Fox is not in the same stratosphere as Makar/Hughes. I like Fox very much, but for people that don't see that he's slowed down very much, from even a couple of years ago, either don't watch most games or are Fox lovers...He's def not worth $9.5M the way he's currently playing

Darnell Nurse makes the same as Fox. Let that sink in.

I'm not.

I have absolutely no curiosity as to what people who want to trade Fox think.

This isn't X. I don't need to treat absolute nonsense as equal discourse.

I thought this thread was for discussing roster speculations and possibilities. If you do not want to discuss it that is fine but are you saying others should not?

Yes.

I'm saying people should stop posting nonsense.

Suggesting we move Fox is like suggesting we change the team's name to the New York Cheeseballs.

Be careful or you might be told you're dumb!

@Machinehead is not dumb.
Howev, he is demonstrating that he has blinders on for this one.

Saying dealing Fox is "absolute nonsense as equal discourse" is close minded.
It depends on the return.

In addition, it is ALWAYS TRUE NOT FALSE that teams need to develop young talent to stay ahead of the cap hit curve -> best manage roster w/mo flexibility and extend the window

For the most part our team clearly has been horrible at that
and then exacerbated the situation by not listening to me and doing stupid trades and rentals.

Hence, there should be open minded discussions about dealing our top guys who have no strings [Shesty/Fox/Tro/bread] for a haul.

You didn't like the prop I had about about Fox to Sens
fine
I disagree, but fine
now come up with something better

but coke for pepsi is not an answer, insisting on at least same known talent coming back is not productive

we need to demand way more than a potential dollar returned for an actual dollar surrendered

this is the only way to get back on track

"It depends on the return" is meaningless.

The Oilers would trade McDavid if the Avalanche offered them MacKinnon, Makar, Toews, and sixteen 1st round picks. It would never happen.

I can deal with never happening. Most of what we propose never happens. However, when it is both unrealistic and monumentally stupid, I will call it out as such.

There will be no open minded discussion on trading Fox. I'm just going to make fun of it.

I'm going to make fun of it until hopefully people stop suggesting it.

This is the only way to get back on track.

Would like to see some moves of the whatever guys like Vesey sooner rather than later. Leave some time to get into the details of a Kreider trade. Time and time again deadlines come and go and teams that had a handful of assets to move don't get them all moved because they wanted to wait till last day on each one and got their hands tied up.
completely opposite - drury should 100% concentrate on his main objectives because whether or not Vesey is moved or not at all is largely irrelevant.

Don't know or care where you're on a political spectrum but this reminded me of a reference to RFK Jr as anti-vaccines the same way as if you're against pollution in the water than you're anti-water. Feel free to delete

This is for Swiss league ;)

well I'm crushed for time atm
we often agree/agree to disagree

""It depends on the return" is meaningless."
IS NOT MEANINGLESS
for that to be true here, that would mean it is not mathematically possible to come up with any deal that fits a range which a suitor is willing to pony up, that is too much for Rs to turn down

I am open to suggestion my Fox to OTT deal is not enuf to qualify
but we should not have closemindedness on trying to imagine such a trade

Also, the fundamental pt I made about the need to deal star vets for quality youth remains.

you are gonna have to consider me part of the loyal opposition on this one

Yeah that would be fine too. I moreso mean getting distracted with Lindgren and Smith when there could be a good move for Kreider out there as well. Time is an asset.

Here's my suggestion:

Tear up that trade proposal. Light it on fire. Sweep up the ashes. Flush the ashes down the toilet. Disconnect the toilet. Light the toilet on fire. Bury the remains. Condemn the land. Work on a different idea.

The Fox trading cries have grown based on an exhibition tournament where no defensemen stand out and they're playing with and against players that'll never play with and against. It's absolutely insane how many conclusions are drawn from this tournament.
I'm not gonna throw bern into this mixer but the rest of the anti-Fox people went into this tournament thinking "how can I be as insufferable as possible?"

I am as ever a champion to the competition of ideas

I'll meet you part way and put it on a shelf
but I want the premise exhausted

let us have it established, one way or the other,
that a sufficient return can be had for Fox [and what that looks like]
or not

Not just the anti fox people.

It’s been open season to whine incessantly about everything (more than actual rangers game threads) along with what ever the f*** RF1994 has been doing.

I'm picturing a playboy on one side (before they got rid of the good stuff) and this tournament on the other side and these people choosing this tournament.

P.S. I would be my life savings that not one of these people would tell us how great Fox is if he dominated the tournament.

Adam Fox has been, and can be better than what we've been getting this season. The whole team is having subpar seasons. It'd be nice if we see some physical improvements from him over the offseason. That's not happening this season, it is what it is. He had 17 goals last season... his shot and the slight decline in mobility are the issues. He's 27. Suck it up and hit the gym hard. There's valid criticisms to his game right now but trading him just doesn't make sense, any way you look at it.

how about we just cut the soft fat? Maybe add a real top4LHD? Let the best players play? not the highest paid.

If the team rebuilds by trading Smith, Lindgren, Vesey, Panarin and Kreider and they bring in a good LD to play with Fox, and use the remaining cap space to augment the roster they have and they still struggle then MAYBE you can start looking at a deeper cut. That cut still isn’t likely to be Fox but that’s the point. And that point isn’t coming for another 2-3 years based on what is needed around the roster

The most important part of the next 2 weeks is losing as many games as possible, preferably in blowouts. This is Drury's moment to truly correct course and sell sell sell. Sather did it, Gorton did it, now it is Drury's chance. We cannot risk becoming buyers with this squad and not ruin the potential to get positive value for pending UFAs and RFAs, or anyone else who waives a NMC/NTC in the rotten core. Showing a pulse will only cause Drury to start throwing more futures at rentals who will block spots for the kids, and at best give us a 1st round loss, maybe 2nd if Igor steals a series. Tough times require tough decisions. But in reality those decisions shouldn't really be all that tough.

Brian Leetch had down years too. Not suggesting that Fox is quite on the same level but he's as close as we've come to Leetch since Leetch and really there have been no other as serious contenders.

One might argue that as Fox goes so goes the Rangers and really I think what we need to do is give him better players to work with. We don't have another defenseman that has nearly the production abilities that he has and trading him would just about sink our power play to the bottom of the league.....which is no way to be seriously competitive.
