Moving Kreider is not a priority for me. If I had my druthers I'd rather move Zibanejad. That said I think Kreider would be much easier to move and could bring back a better return. He does have a couple years after this. His $6.5 wouldn't be bad at all for a 50 point player which I think he could get back to next year. He can pk and be an effective power play guy. He's been a productive playoff player. These are things though that should make him more attractive to potential trade partners than Mika IMO---who's not been quite as good a playoff performer and who has an $8.5 mil cap hit with 5 years left and whose play was faltering even last year.
Wait what? Mika has outscored Kreider in the post season since becoming a Ranger. In fact Mika is only behind Messier and Leetch in PPG pacing in the playoffs.

you do have to send Mika where he wants to go b'c the nmc
howev
you can break him to make him go there
thus saying "you can't move Mika" is not entirely correct

like I've said, no defense/physical play -> no mins
and he sits
and sits
and sits
until when daddy's little girl asks why he isn't playing, he decides to accept a move rather than tell her

that's cruel and beneath me, but it is nec and it is all on Meeka
Great idea Bern. Lets healthy scratch the teams best player since the break.

Yea, lets keep holding kreider, i’m sure when he has 20 points again next year through 45 games that will really increase his value. Trade him now before he has no value.

How anyone could want this team to keep this garbage country club shit is beyond me. Wake up, this is a business, who cares if he played 13 years here. He'll get his jersey retired in 5 years and you can cheer for him then. He’s nothing like stanley cup winner, conn smythe winner and HoFer Leetch so dont even try to compare the two.

I just want to make a good decision based on facts. How does a super strong and fast guy physically look like a shell of himself in 6-8 months? He almost looks physically vulnerable in some situations. I suspect he had a very painful situation that he is very aware of mentally. Will that pass? Is he recovering with rest and treatment?

faster we detach that loser, and send a message, the better

AND ZIB IS STILL NOT PLAYING D, WIMPING OUT ON PHYSICAL PLAY
my calls to oust ARE JUSTIFIED

finally, setting aside any other comparisons
when healthy [not the case now but possible in the future]

healthy Kreider >>> Zib

The Rangers shouldn't trade Lindgren then if you are concerned about the room and vibe. According to Vince Mercogliano, the Rangers room would be very disappointed if the Rangers traded Lindgren.

I can't until this shit is over and the NHL starts playing again.
Not trading Lindgren/Kreider because it would hurt the room is another reason why this team needs to be blown up, and Drury can go with them. This group will never win anything.

Bleep these players and they need grow the bleep up.

The Rangers locker room hasn't earned deference with their performance this year. If you want to keep the band together, you at the very least need to earn it and go on a run here.

Trocheck said more or less the same thing earlier this year around the time of the Trouba trade.

Your takes on Zibanejad are borderline maniacal.

Yeah, more or less what I said......apart from I wouldn't move him for whatever I could get. Drury should move him only if he can get a very good deal and for the sake of not pissing the team off again maybe he should just do it without preannouncing he's going to do it like happened with Trouba.

The Rangers do not have cap issues though and especially if the cap projections for next year are $94 or around there. There's no urgency to do it at the moment and he's a player who's scored 24 goals in his last 43 playoff games and has 3 potential playoff runs with his current term. So I wouldn't give this guy away.
It sure would be nice to see Othmann get some quality minutes to see exactly what we might have in him. Surely he will get Edstrom ice after the break for starters ?

Its obviously not beneath you because you continue to suggest it.

I’ve never seen Kreider get pushed around like he has this year. I hate speculating but he almost looked weak at times. I know players loose weight/muscle as the season goes on but I wonder if the back issues accelerated it. Idk. I think it’s time to move on but I’ll always root for the guy.

I saw a play where he couldn't push off a much smaller guy then seemed to have trouble just holding his stick so I figured he had back pain. His face looked distressed but later he was able to take a faceoff so I was confused.

Not directing this at you, but you mentioned cap.

I think what will happen and what will cause chaos in some fans' minds is the new valuation of players that will take place with a higher cap.

Fans will keep valuing players in their minds based on the past few years salaries and expect to fit more talent under a higher cap. What's going to happen is all players will require some % more to sign them because the cap is higher. So a player who would receive 4x$4m now will instead get $5M (just make up numbers) and fans will freak out at overpays, It's going to be a matter of everyone gets some more rather than, oh we can afford more under the higher cap.

Fans are still valuing players in their minds based on salaries from like 2011.

Everything is % based. It’s not hard

McDavid is looking at 17-18M at the same %. Panarin and Zibs upgrade.

I think this summer will be interesting to see if the teams for McDavid, Eichel, Kaprizov, Necas and Connor look to get long term contracts done, or do they go into season as pending UFA’s with the risk of losing them for nothing?

I saw this morning in The Athletic. 14 out of 26 people picked EP40. 4 picked Matthews. 3 picked Soros. One brave soul picked Fox. He or she should remain anonymous because the Adam Fox mafia will come after them. Vendetta. Nylander made the list. Marner hasn’t looked much better.

Love to see Brooksie on the "Trade Lindgren ASAP" train.

The Rangers should keep Lindgren. Self rental. They should be concerned about not upsetting the room and especially Foxy.

I just want to relive the fact the Rangers have no 2nd round pick in this years draft or the next because of Patrick Nemeth whos no longer in the NHL. Nice job Chris
Drury traded a 2nd and 5th for Smith with 25% retention. I have read people suggest Drury will trade Smith for a mid-round pick at the deadline.
