Why would they waive Kaliyev? He's gonna play when they trade Reilly Smith.Vesey for rocket
Brodz for jennings/lady byng
Have they waived kaliyev yet?
ah. i invite you to consider that the presumption that a *rookie* winger's point production, playing with offensive dynamos Rempe, Vesey, and Carrick, might not set the upper limit for what the player might be able to do in a different role.Presumably that a player with 9 points in 51 games, scoring at 1.16 pts/60, is not in line to move up in the lineup.

Furthermore, consider the idea that not challenging young players to play roles is exactly why their young players never develop.
fair ptBrodz is youth? Guy is 31
They absolutely won't. My initial response was saying they're not giving us a 1st.Why would someone give up a 1st for a goalie prospect that hasn't played in the NHL and was like 4th round pick or whatever he was?
I didn't say strong offensive producer. I said could grow into a 3rd line role. What makes you think that a player who has not been a strong offensive producer in any pro league in his life will suddenly be a strong offensive producer in the NHL? He's already shown he can play a forechecking defensive role. Is moving him up worth blocking Berard/Othmann/Perreault who need time in the top nine since it's more likely their future? They're not going to go into the season next year with like 4 rookies in the lineup at forward and in key roles so I would not agree that they can just have them all in the lineup to start.
also - you're talking about a rookie here. It's incredibly hard to break into the NHL. To have done so in such a complete way - not looking out of place at all - and playing physical, relatively mistake-free hockey belies a skill level and competitiveness that can take him far.Sure. He’s not that good. He’s big. He’s fast. He is a physical and willing forechecker but when he does, he rarely causes a turnover or errant pass, which seems to me should be the whole intent of forechecking. Now don’t get me wrong, on this team he is a top 5 forechecker, but that’s not saying too much. He also seems to be a willing defensive forward. Again on this team……He is on track for 8 goals for the season, which ain’t bad, and from his AHL stats, I admit he is probably capable of more. Would he be able to make the 4th line on any other contender in the NHL Maybe. But would he improve any of those teams? Granted, the Rangers don’t tend to deploy a typical defensive centric 3rd line like some teams, so I don’t see him being a fit on our 3rd line. I just don’t think we would miss a beat if Edstrom wasn’t on the team, and there are a lot of veteran 4th liners in the league who do a better job, though some of them don’t have Edstrom’s potential upside. I was probably too flippant with my remark, but I certainly don’t see him as a 3 rd liner at this point. In the future? Sure it’s possible.
like my main man quickieThe problem has been no one wants to do them dirty work. The dirty work creates space for guys like Panarin.
Everyone wants to be and plays like Panarin on this team…. That just doesn’t work. You need guys attacking the puck and going hard on the forecheck. We need at least 2 more guys that can play that game, in the top 9.
Kreider used to tilt the ice but he’s not that anymore. Same with Mika. Laffy 100% needs to model his game after JTM, that’s why I want him playing with him.
I totally agree with you, and I don’t mean to be argumentative about it, but right now I don’t see anything special from his actual play. He deserves to be here and he has the chance to be a fine NHLer. I confess I haven’t gone out of my way to study his game so I’m gonna exit this conversation. He has the tools. I wish him well.also - you're talking about a rookie here. It's incredibly hard to break into the NHL. Last year Laf and Trochek were doing the dirty work and that line thrived. Then Laf got a taste for the exquisite aroma of his own farts and the line has sucked for 2/3 of their games because Trochek can't do the dirty work AND cover for both of them defensively. Bad mix.The problem has been no one wants to do them dirty work. The dirty work creates space for guys like Panarin.
Not W-I-N. Maybe w-I-n.Adam Edstrom is a 6th round pick that has played 50+ games this season (probably would've played the whole 82 without the injury) as a 161st overall pick. He's a total win. W-I-N.
