Yeah these are at 5v5.

NST has been on the pipe for years in terms of tracking scoring chances but It's the best I've got access to that allows you to do date ranges. Literally the only time I use it.

46 vs 43 sounds more in line with what I was expecting.

Yeah I don't get the allure. I also don't see him as a Drury type of acquisition. Like him or not, he has been consistent about the type of players he wants on the team.

The concern with Soucy is he has another year left at $3.25m I believe. So he’s not a rental. At that cap hit, he really needs to be a solid #5 or ideally partner for Fox where he’s playing a safe game. That could be the case but it’s a risk because of next years term. Vancouver is basically looking to dump him to make cap room

3.25 for 1 year is basically nothing to me with the cap going up. They can have Jones if they are dumping that minuscule an amount of money

It’s a small amount, yes, but it’s not without risk. That could be the difference in getting Gavrikov or getting someone like Maata

Although I haven’t seen him play lately, he’d more than likely be our 5th bet Dman, and someone big enough to clear the crease. Not necessarily advocating for him but….

At the end of his age 22 season. Zegras had scored 154 points over 211 games.

Mika's career high in those years was 21g, 30a for 51 points.
Zegras 23g 42a for 65 points

People forget that there is a reason Ottawa traded a young top 10 picked center.

Looking at Zegras's production numbers and his cap hit I can see why the Ducks would want to move on from him. His current cap hit is $5.75 mil. To qualify him after next year we're talking at least $6.5 mil for someone who had 15 points in 31 games last year and 15 points in 31 games so far this year. He's not known for his two way game and his production numbers seriously underwhelm the cap hit he has. You would have to seriously think this guy is going to find his game again and that at least to me is pretty unclear. Lots of players have serious skills. That doesn't always mean they're good hockey players.

When the Rangers moved on from Kakko a main reason was he was close to reaching a point where we'd have to either lock him up or risk losing him to free agency. Since then he's played pretty much as well as he ever has but I don't necessarily think we made a mistake. I think it was time and I also think it freed him in a way he'd never experienced before. He seems to be finally getting it. Zegras has kind of lost the plot in the last couple years. That doesn't mean he won't find it again but if we're bringing him in it's a real gamble and for me he's making way more than I'd feel comfortable paying him.

Take them off the first PP unit and Dubinsky/Callahan are both 30-35 point players.

That’s pretty unfair. Take MOST players off the first PP and their production drops 35-40%. McDavid, Kucherov, Panarin included. So that’s a very poor take.
