What about Bjorkstrand in Seattle? Havent watched im in awhile but I always thought he was one of those guys that did everything right and it looks like he's on track for another 50ish point season. One more year on his contract at $5.4m aav.

Going to be very difficult to sneak into the dance, but NYR play CBJ and NYI both three time. Also Tampa twice. This team has killed my spirit this year and even if they make it they're unlikely to make it out of the first round, but going on a heater here and making the playoffs would go a long way in removing the bad taste in my mouth from this year.

Making the playoffs is more daunting than a 7 gamer against any playoff team imo. If the rangers make it, I expect them to go on a deep run. We're a better team on paper now than we were last year at this time. the problem is we played like a bunch of assholes for 2 months. The Caps having a resurgent regular season doesnt scare me.

If they want to have any chance of making the playoffs and doing damage there, they must get rid of Lindgren. He is terrible. He almost gave the tying goal away TWICE last night on that final shift. Swinging pucks around the board where no teammate was, right back to Boston for chaos to ensue. He is just not an intelligent hockey player and those types make panicky plays out of desperation. Oh and add in the idiot’s attempt at the empty net as opposed to flipping it high out of the zone for the clock to kill and a line change to occur as needed. He must go.

He didnt start the game much better. Get's beat on his first shift and takes a penalty. Im really hoping against hope they are going to play these next 2 games and re-assess the roster during the tournament break. Maybe we get lucky and they make a trade for a d-man before them. Carson Soucy's name is the one that's currently out there and available. he's a clear upgrade on Lindgren in every way.

Adam Lowry is one who you'd want as a 3C but he's injured an in a leadership role in Peg.

I really like Colton Sissons but the book on him is that he's pretty much done- he'd just be a better Carrick.

Adam Lowry is what we should be developing Edstrom into long term.

Most detrimental player in the league?

Ryan Donato in Chicago. Likely wouldn't cost much and I could see the case for giving him a deal this summer too. 3x3.5 or something like that.

Can play up and down the lineup, plays C and both wings. Could be a fit

Jones and a 3rd/4th for Donato

Classic guy who looks good on bad teams with no expectations, but struggles on good teams. There's a reason he's bounced around so much. I think we can do better than him fairly easily.

14. No one thinks Dallas is done. Depending on how they handle Miro Heiskanen’s injury status — and nobody’s going to be rushing him back for the regular season — the Stars still have about $5 million in LTIR space. Don’t be surprised if they aren’t finished remodelling the right side of their defence.

Adam Fox($9,500,000) to the Dallas Stars for Wyatt Johnston($894,167) and Thomas Harley($4,000,000). Math works.

I know it's not happening. It would a very good trade for both teams.

Dom has some nice numbers on Harley in this column today.

Harley-Schneider
KMiller-Borgen

Miller is showing signs of progress. Four big D who can skate.

Johnston joins the Rangers younger forwards. Lafreniere. Cuylle. Othmann. Perreault. Edstrom. Rempe. They can learn from JT and Trocheck. There is a lot of hard edge there. Big and heavy hockey.

Swap out out Panarin, Kreider and Zibanejad.

The Rangers are 17th in xGF% since the New Year, which is a huge improvement and that's sad to think about.

But the Capitals are 16th!

That's a beatable team. They're one of those teams doing well in the standings and they did well most of the year in the underlying numbers, but the roster doesn't pass the smell test. There's nothing good about their lineup aside from a 39 year old.

I'm not surprised their numbers are starting to slip.

The yearly circle of posts about getting utter trashcan Christian Dvorak is my 2nd least favorite bout of HFNYR Alzheimer's behind Mark Jankowski's inexplicable allure when he inevitably gets waived and/or goes UFA.

I want to agree - I just dont trust this team this year lol. I'll gladly take it though! Should be fun down the stretch (hopefully).

I don't remember anyone on here ever suggesting Jankowski.

Agree on Dvorak. That's gotta be #1.

Personally, I think the daily "Trade Adam Fox" posts are far worse

Cuylle really stepping up his scoring mow that he’s free from the anchor Zibanejad

Oh, wait. That’s not true.

The real anchor is Kreider. Lo and behold thats who Cuylle is playing with. It's another laviolette masterclass that we have reilly Smith in the top 6 over Cuylle.

This team has no problem claiming a playoff spot from this position in terms of ability. Whether or not they’re willing to buy into what that asks of them is the only question.

As far as adding/subtracting…kreider and lindgren realistically are unlikely to move. Like it or not, lindgren is a huge part of the locker room. He also hasn’t been nearly as bad as what people make him out to be. He’s struggled for sure, but he does contribute in ways most people don’t appreciate. Kreider is similar. Bottom line, unless the wheels fall off heading into the deadline, drury is probably not moving pieces that are huge parts of the room.

If he gets an offer he likes for smith or makes a move that forces him to create a spot, he’d move him. He’s not moving him for a mid round pick for the sake of it though. Jones i’d imagine is moved, likely why he wanted brannstrom.

I doubt he gets involved with any bigger names like a provorov, they don’t have a whole lot of appealing assets after the untouchables to be involved anyway. If he adds a donato, kuraly, eyssimont type or a depth dman in smaller deals that’s fine.

What i’d really love to see from this org tho is demonstrating some pro scouting thievery. They know what they need in the bottom 6 and there’s absolutely younger guys out there who’ve stagnated or been blocked out of roster spots but have the skillset to make an impact on this roster. A lot of people have taken note of the difference having a guy who forechecks like jt miller makes for this roster. It’s what i’ve been saying for years…that this team needs a couple of pure puckhounds. It’s phenomenal adding a top 6 version, but they need at least 1 more, and 2 wouldn’t be a bad idea. They need some more pace and chaos creators…those guys are out there and you can get them for next to nothing if your pro scouts are any good at their job. It’s easier but more expensive and you don’t get quite the same juice adding vets who bring that…still better than nothing. Good orgs add these guys and win. Great orgs identify the younger player who’s fallen through the cracks somewhere

Truth.

Nothing beats pining over former players who were here for 2 months though.

What ways does Ryan Lindgren contribute that people don’t appreciate?

Also I can assure you he has been much much much worse than you think he’s been.
