People wanting to trade Fox instead of just giving him a new partner are delusional.
I've been called delusional by this board before, and have been proven right at the end of the day.
btw, the fallacy in your argument is it postures that Fox just disappears. It does not acknowledge the counterplay, which is the presumably positive get we obtain from sending Fox somewhere.
Martians are not kidnapping Fox, so we DO NOT lose him for nothing.
Whether on backline or elsewhere, we will get a haul for adam, but we need to move him NOW while there is no trade protection clause.
Not acquiring Chychrun was mind boggling
sadly, this is a feel good yielding to temptation by getting a name guy w'o examining consequences
yeah, Chych >> Lindgren, whoop de doo.
He is not a great PO performer if memory serves
And then there is cost to acquire
Even if we only sign for $$ that is opportunity cost cap vs cap
we can do better, for cheaper in the short term
Lindgren as the #6 defenseman is whatever. The problem is that Lindgren is stapled to Fox.
sorry, no
Lindy has now degraded to abysmal
he is a depth guy worth a 7th, maybe a 6th, not much more
best for us, we add a 3rd and we can upgrade to a 2nd, something like that, maybe
Chychrun, if he test the market
no, unless he signs for super cheap and short term which he is not doing
ps note above
IMO I think lindgren & his reputation is worth more than a 2nd. Esp if you package him with smith, like sjs did for granland & cici. I think if you do that you should be able to get a return that can help now & in the future. Say both those player to col for dehaan(contract depth d to replace lindgren) & a prospect like Ritchie or gulyayav or to the wild for dermott/merril & one of heidt/kivahrju/stramel. So basically a 3rd pair d and then you slide up up player like Schneider to replace lindgren
sorry HUGE no, see above
Beating on Lindgren is beating a dead horse. Hes awful.
Zibanejad looked really good last night, and especially good at RW. I wonder if getting out of the 1C spot takes pressure off him and allows him to just play his game for where he’s at right now.
Also, this obviously means 3C is an open spot. They’re a few games out of a WC, but still not completely out of it. Really curious to see what Drury does. This is kinda where not drafting and developing Centers is coming to bite us in the ass.
tell it like it is, let your conscience...
So yeah, def improvement
he did not show willingness to contact like his teammate jtm, esp on def was contact averse
also yeah, he does deserve credit for not muffing the easy open net tip in on his goal, but I have mo respect and give mo props to Kreider for doing the dirty work of denying a checker who would have moved Mika out of the crease
but hey, anything to make his sorry selfish ass more attractive to a trade partner!
EF confirmed Arthur Staple's report that Vancouver wanted Drew Fortesque in the original deal. EF said he heard Vancouver wanted an unsigned Rangers prospect D in the original JT Miller deal The Rangers did not want to move Fortesque. Victor Mancini replaced Fortesque in the second Miller deal. It wasn't Adam Sykora or Jaroslav Chelmar.
glad we held on to Drew, Chelmar
should have kept Mancini, surrendered sykora and BMB, and given 2 2nds, in lieu of the 1st
What a world where Jimmy Vesey gets more ice time than Chris Kreider
One where CK is playing thru pain on a limited basis
jv should be gone, replace w/Berard, Othmann
It's only 2 games but if Mika can maintain his production as the top line RW, his contract is a non-issue. especially when you consider that when his game is going he's and excellent PKer and on the PP. I think Drury should be on the lookout for a 3C whose contract fits that role better. Mika going forward in the Stamkos RW/fill-in C role changes the calculus. he's not a guy you NEED to trade if that's the case. Unlike Kreider and Lindgren.
I look at Nashville and Minnesota for a 3rd line C. Novak, Scissons, maybe ROR from the Preds? Id also ask about Ryan Hartman from the Wild. They have cap issues long term, maybe looking to give their young guys more ice time. there are other interesting options out there, but a 3C is easier to find than a top 6 wing.
NO
Mika was and is a cancer and needs to go YESTERDAY
As to underline, can we stop spending for vets, esp non impact mediocre ones, and develop/play guys we have?
