I literally just mentioned 3 things that could be done to get him out of the lineupSo no plan at all. Cool
You want to acquire an NHL defenseman for a late pick? You want a Caribbean island for Christmas as well?

What were my questions that you replied to? You literally didn't answer either one.I literally just mentioned 3 things that could be done to get him out of the lineup
You said who I’m replacing him with. What were my questions that you replied to? You literally didn't answer either one.

The answers are actually pretty straightforward.
You can trade junk for a real crummy rental and hope it's better than Lindgren.
Or you can trade a piece of two with real value (Othmann, for example) for an actual valuable blueliner.
For now, let's see what Brannstrom has. I don't think he's a solution but we might as well experiment with him.
I think NYR need a top LHD, but I think you're looking at Othmann, Fortescue, Berard as a starting package for someone actually good.
Name me the #6 dman better than lindgren. Im not asking complicated questions here
Name them. You guys keep avoiding naming someone
Gusto was a nightmare here you can say what you want about lindgren but gusto was a nightmare on the 3rd pair...There are options out there. Here’s one:
Detroit likely would not mind moving on from Gustafsson. He hasn’t fit in there. The team and coaching staff know him well. One more year at $2m cap hit.
He’d be a major upgrade on Lindgren, cost little, and would be around next year as insurance.

I also think that the guy to fit there is Gavrikov anyways. And that’s an offseason move.

How is this a real suggestion.

I think a trade for Gus makes a ton of sense. He was good when paired with Fix at times Last year
That makes the most sense. And give Brannstrom a lookI’m honestly at the point where I’d try Vaak there

You're remember what you want about gusto. He was absolutely horrible after the luster wore off. People here were acting like nyr was smarter than everyone else and ignored his history of bouncing around. He's not good. Lindgren is not good, but one is not good as a 1 pair guy that your top d wants to play with. The other is not good as a 3rd pair guy that really can't play defense even against 3rd liners. Gusto still can't find an org that wants to keep him multiple years at this point.I don’t know what to tell you. He’s significantly better than Lindgren. That’s how bad Lindgren is.
They could also just play Jones and re-arrange the pairs they have.
I'm not saying that they should play him with Fox (though he'd be a better option than Lindgren because he can at least push the puck forward and before anyone hits me with the DURR defense Lindgren sucks at defense too) but they have in house options that while far from ideal, would be better than what they're running right now/.

9 years in a row on a different team, figure it out...
And if he could manage that than you just need a partner for Schneider which is much more manageable to find.I’m honestly at the point where I’d try Vaak there

But the org needs to have a legit asset they are willing to trade for d. Even a bad d is worth a 2nd rounder, nyr doesn't have a 2nd until 2045
Lindgren is on a 1 year deal. So youd prefer cole on a 1 year deal. This is now a silly convoIan Cole
For the record, for what Lindgren makes, they could sign a 4/5 guy pretty easily. That’s the rub. Lindgren is going to get 3-4m on his next deal and it’s likely to be 3-5 years.
Trade Reilly Smith and Ryan Lindgren for picks.
Use a late pick to find the right d-man, can be a LD or RD. Schneider can play either side

U realize lindy is on a 1 year deal right? You want 35 year old tanev on 6 X $4.5? LOL. Thank god drury is gm and not youBasically every single UFA defenseman who has signed the last 3 years if you want someone who is better than the current Lindgren.
If you want just strictly last year? here are the guys with an AAV equal to (or lower, I'm not throwing guys like Skjei Roy and Montour into this mix though I would have ditched Lindgren and made the extra room for Roy, he's good.)
Walker
Dillon
Schmidt
Gustafsson (who we had)
Tanev (Who is signed to an EQUAL AAV.)
In the past few years we've seen guys like Ekholm, Sergachev and Chychrun (twice) get traded. I'm sure I'm blanking on someone else (EK too, but thats a massive salary.)
The point isn't getting a #6, those guys are EASY to find.
The point is to stop having someone who is a 8 on a contender playing next to Fox. That was something that should have been solved when Lindgren was still top 6 worthy. It's absurd that it's still a sore spot when he isn't worthy of being in an every game rotation, let alone in the top 4.
This exercise holds if you want to go back to the last 2 seasons as well.
So wrong? Wrong about what? Literally everything that people have been giving me grief about this season I have been right about. (Trouba, locker room, the quit, the deals, Mika moving to the wing, Miller, go on) Main media was coming forward with the stuff literally weeks after I posted it here but okay dudei've never seen someone so arrogant yet so incredibly wrong about everything in my 25 years of posting on message boards. congrats bro.
