Yup. Too many people live in a fantasy land here. On one hand they say this is the team he inherited and next sentence will say, “he should move the unmovable contracts he inherited” lol

So enlighten us on what realistic moves you wouldve made

As far as you want. But acknowledge with the benefit of hindsight everyone looks smart

Upgrading Lindgren was/is totally realistic.

Drury has chosen not to do it.

I don’t need hindsight to say “hey maybe we shouldn’t trade Buchnevich for that”

If we want to do something recent I would like to be transported to one minute after Trouba was traded, and then would have traded Igor instead of extending him.

With who? When and terms?

I agree in the buchnevich item. But we should also acknowledge that trade was made with drury thinking eichel was a done deal.

Even so, he shouldve got much for buch

This question is so annoying. Drury's the one with a rolodex of 31 other GMs and an intimate knowledge of the market. Not us.

Upgrading on a #6 at ABSOLUTE BEST is f***ing easy. There were like 8 UFAs alone in 2024 that would've been better. If Drury can't manage that he should go get more involved with his pizza business instead.

I like how Drury didn't want to part with the 30th overall last year when we were top 3 cup favorites, but now that we're 2 games above .500 he fires the missiles.

This organization is truly a joke. Welcome back to the dark ages, fellas
Id rather use it in the trade we just made than a rental last year which wouldnt have changed the outcome at all

@Raspewtin basically answered this already but I'll go further.

Look at all of the D who have been signed as UFA's or traded in the last 3 years. Outside of a handful of them there is no reason why he couldn't have gone after or even just straight up acquired/signed one of them by either using Lindgren as a trade chip (back when he had legitimate value) or acquiring said player via UFA or using other pieces and moving Lindgren in a separate deal.

He has chosen to run with him up until today. Hes not a hard player to upgrade, especially the version that has existed since the beginning of last season because pretty much anyone would be an upgrade.

is this actually true? if so what a chain of events that completely derailed this franchise

I wonder how much that POS Trouba handicapped Drury in upgrading because we couldn't move his salary.

Trade Fox and the Rangers have the worst defense in the NHL with nothing coming through the pipeline.
we have coupla decent guys in pipeline, just not immediate, instant gratification
our backline will be determined by what we get back and how soon they can chip in but even if no D coming back,
like someone said if no Fox drops us from like 20th best D to 26th [ish] best D, that is a distinction without a difference
But also, we need a lot of help in multiple areas
must not pigeon hole ourselves
if trading D happens to get us better Fs, and it is a net profit, WE DO IT
if trading F happens to improve our D, WE DO IT

People who want to trade Fox for stuff and things are f***ing cracked.

I promise you if you had any other "top" D in the league and you saw them spend as many as 3 games with Lindgren you'd be begging for Fox back.
What you appear to be implying, but think you do not mean, is that Lindgren is a constant whether Fox stays or goes
they both should go, for dif reasons

At that point trade him to the Bruins for McAvoy.
See this is part of what's whack here
peeps gotta have an open mind and eye about returns
some won't move Fox unless LeoDrai is coming

Fox does not return McAvoy

One thing I'm trying to understand with the lines is that they just moved Mika to the wing instead of running these guys down the middle.

I get that Miller hasn't practiced and may not know all the defensive things, but it's a disservice to run Brodzinski as your 3C.

Unless the plan is to get another 3C and keep Mika on the wing. I don't see the reason to do that now, there are plenty of wingers on the roster and in the system.

The Trouba and Miller trades, value wise, were both home runs. Even if the Rangers decide three years from now to blow it up, Miller will be worth similar to what he just returned.

Creating $8m in cap space mid season was also a master move while getting a serviceable bottom-pairing LD.

Goodrow waived.

These are irrevocably good moves.

I’m intrigued to see how he handles the deadline. I think we see more guys leaving

I had a crazy thought is Miller the best non-goalie we drafted since Leetch? I thought maybe Amonte but looking at his numbers he was never close to 100 points, even pre-DPE.
