Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XVI (Playoffs or Retool?)

Low key a big issue is Adam Fox having 1 non empty net goal in like the last 75 games. Just absurd stuff

He has one of the worst shots in hockey. I mean its a weak weak shot. The only way he is gonna score is on a breakaway or empty net

How dare you? Just how dare you? The greatest Rangers defenseman since Leetch and perpetual Norris candidate. :sarcasm:

Im so happy i have St Johns basketball this year to watch. That team is extremely likable and busts their butts every game.

This Rangers team is completely ppposite. The most unlikeable lazy group we have had since the lockout year.

The player on the same team who will cost significantly less. If I'd be concerned about giving 7x11.6 for EP with a full NMC why would I possibly trade a ton of assets for him? It's probably going to be like Perreault+ that they'd want for him given that they could have been in line to get Necas from Carolina.
There’s a reason why his teammate will require fewer assets and cost less money. He’s 6 years older and he tends to wear out his welcome after a few years. The latter should not be a problem because he’ll probably only be good at hockey for a few years, if that. Having said that, I kinda hope we get J.T, but I think Pettersson would be worth going all in on, though he seems to have a knee and wrist issue that need looking into.

Fox is 6th in the league in goals for defensemen from 22 - 24 lol. This is just false.

Not saying I have a great explanation for this year, I don't.
What is false about my comment? He has a good shot? when is the last time he scored from the point on the pp? For the amount of pp time he gets and the amount of point blank chances he's had just above the slot area to have 1 goal in 50 plus games tells me his shot isn't that good.

He's still a terrific dman and don't need him to score 20 goals but 1 goal with the amount of pp time/ ice time he gets? This year he is to scoring goals what CK is to assists.

The first order of business still needs to be getting Lindgren the f out of town but this summer should really be focused on finding a new home for #10.

Thats the real infection.
yeah I am ok with shipping Panarin out but won't happen until TDL and if we are in a playoff spot its not gonna happen until next year.
Lindgren on the other hand should be gone for anything better than a 4th rounder or a NHL level dman.
Otherwise I guess just keep him but please do not extend him.

If you can move Kreider, Smith and lindgren, do it. If nothing else you can replace them with Othmann, Berard and Jones.
Even with Lindgren gone the Jones ship has sailed. Don't see him being given any kind of a chance here.
Berard should absolutely be playing here vs a 20 percent CK.

It's been a long few years knowing the state of things. Yes, bread is HHOF, but he's also warped this team severely. Doesn't help that Kreider and Zib have been a bromance on their own little island all this time.

Keep losing. It will be hard for Drury to justify trading for a soon to be 32 year old player with major term remaining when the team is not a legit contender. If you think this team can be changed with a few moves here and a cosmetic change there, I don't know what you are missing. I was ready to write watching but people rely more on the advanced stats than the eye test. The player can be garbage but the advanced stats can say something different and those numbers supersede everything else.

All of the Rangers big money forwards have failed to live up to their salaries. Is it a fluke? Is it age? They hog up all of the time on the power play. Laviolette keeps rolling them out there. They don't change when there is an opportunity to change until there are 20 seconds remaining on the PP.

Just trade Lindgren and Smith at the deadline, and use all 3 of the retention spots for those guys, or as a third party.

I can't imagine a team giving up a first at the deadline for Kreider if the teams are actually scouting him, get him healthy, get his updated No Trade list in the summer, and reassess going into the draft.

Mika isn't being moved by the deadline, it's a waste of typing.

Scraps for Vesey and Jones? Sure, but hard to see them having any value, maybe Vesey gets a 6th or 7th as a 13th-14th forward for a deep playoff team.

K. Miller and Chytil's future seems like a summer thing too.

If Kreiders back is still an issue, GO THE F Home!! It's not like he's helping in any way, he should have been trying to get healthy months ago and now this is either dragging on, or this is just who he is now. If he or the team don't have the sense to pull him from the lineup for health reasons when he's not helping then it's time to move him or the GM/COACH
