Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XVI (Playoffs or Retool?)

Lindgren's been a weak link for awhile, but does it surprise anyone that he's tried to step up behind the scenes and lead a bit more? Lindgren has always been a battler and given his all. He'd make a great leader. I think we'd be happy to hear the coach say something like this if Lindgren's play on the ice hadn't already soured everyone's opinions so badly.

Personally, I don't think it makes a difference whether he stays or goes. Maybe. I'm hopeful the Rangers can move Lindgren and get something of value, because it's time. But I have respect for Lindgren doing this considering he's probably heard rumors the team is trying to trade him, and probably has seen the writing on the wall.

He sucks but if you removing him no one on this team will even consider getting down to block a shot

Well I hope 31 GMs listen to Brooks and Drury does not. Lindgren for a 1st, baby! Lindgren for Buium! Lindgren for Silayev! Or my favorite deal, Lindgren inexplicably for all three.
If Drury gets a 1st for Lindy I will insist at least 5 posters put I luv Drury as their signatures ☺️

I've always liked Lindgren, but we've seen enough of Staal and Girardi to know his style of game will age him prematurely. As much as I like the guy and really appreciate that style of play, a long-term commitment at top dollar is going to be rough going and doesn't make sense at this juncture.

I'm not surprised he's stepping up a bit more. He's a veteran, and he's had previous leadership roles before, so coaches clearly see it in him. If he's moving down on the defensive chart and specializing on the PK, then that's one thing, but he would have to be paid appropriately.

That’s the problem, he’s stapled as fox’s partner getting 22 min a night and the coaching staff hasn’t made any corrections to this. I get there aren’t many options but I don’t care. He’s a below average player now, he is literally trouba with his play

I remember last year Mollie Walker getting a quote from Kreider saying Lindgren is the “F’n Straw that Stirs the Drink”.
So the boys have been drinking some Mexican tap water...Explains a lot

That’s the problem, this coaching staff hasn’t made those corrections and lavy loves him, lindgren plays 22 min a night. There is no way that if he is extended he will see time stapled to fox’s ass.

LOL, the mod could not WAIT to close that GDT.
Small play there. 3 Rangers around the puck. No one skates for it until they see that the lone Carolina player is going to be all three of them to the puck. Very bad sign. I hope Drury gets an offer he can't refuse just to convince him to be a seller.

Here's what scares me deeply:

I think Chris Drury is Dolan's only hockey advisor. I think Dolan for the longest time had Sather, for better or worse (mostly worse, especially in the beginning), to be his personal hockey advisor. Then when Sather pulled back a bit it was JD, who ran "contrary" to what Dolan's vision of the team was, which was formented after the Tom Wilson incident. And then Drury cozied up to Dolan and got in his ear and got promoted and threw JD and Gorton under the bus.

And here we are: an incompetent, sneaky, unqualified used car salesman as our president and GM with no one to keep him in check.

Who does Dolan consult? Adam Graves? Doubtful. Sean Avery? He probably takes Avery's opinions for a grain of salt. He knows Avery is off his rocker. I think it's just Drury and Dolan doesn't know (and doesn't really care) how awful Drury is. He has the keys to the kingdom and will have it for a long time.

And that's a terrifying thought.
