This. Bringing in another top 4 LHD has been the biggest need since last year. The issue is can they do it during the year or need to wait until the summer. Either way Lindgren is not the answer and they should trade him before the deadline for whatever they can get back. If they don’t bring in another d-man would try Schneider there for the rest of the year. He was decent on his off side at the beginning of the year paired with Trouba, which is no easy feat.upgrade Lindgren to a real 1st pairing D and this team has a chance. still not a good one but a chance. "upgrading" Chytil to Miller does not do it.
I’m not really seeing the common denominator here. Most of those players are relatively slow, or small, or obvious bottom six guys. Where’s Panarin’s replacement? Or even Zib’s or Kreider’s? If people think Kreider is a lousy leader, you’re gonna love Miller. Let’s see some of these 175 pounders play in the NHL for a year or two before we get excited about their hard nosed style. And calling one of those guys hard nosed really makes me Laf.I think Drury clearly sees Miller as guy to put in place as the new leadership core. How he wants the team built. Miller, Cuylle, Lafreniere, Berard, Sykora, Othmann, Edstrom, Schneider - all these guys can play a more hard nosed style while still having skill on their lines. It is pretty clear the type of player he wants up and down his lineup.
Yeah, but will moving Lindgren shatter the emotional psyche of this core? It may take them weeks to recover, so they'll miss the playoffs in the process, even if they do get a true top 4 LHD.This. Prob not winning the cup with that D, but likely an upgrade on the current group and you can collect an asset to use later.
Come on man that has to count for something! Who cares if they don't have much talent ... that's not what's important. And those late picks hardly hit anyway. It's such a crapshoot, who even cares man! Why even bother trying to find that really good kid flying under the radar. That's not what we need. You don't want more prospects in the mold of Fast, Hagelin, Buch, Duclair, Berard, etc.... what we really need are more prospects that are tall with questionable hockey ability. That's what we need. And maybe if we're lucky they can turn into a dime a dozen extra that's hanging around purely because of their size.Or Drury when he sees a 6’7 brontosaurus overager in the CHL who has zero tools
I don’t know. The other game against Columbus, when the guy who beat up Rempe went after Urho, Kreider intervened. When one of the young guys scores a goal, he’s the first guy to enthusiastically congratulate him. He got Kaleyev’s puck for him when he got his first goal as a Ranger. Before a face off I see him communicating to the Dmen and others about positioning and such. Please explain how he is to engage on the ice as a leader.I think Drury dislikes Kreider's attitude
He rarely engages in a way on the ice as a leader
He helps coddle Zibanejad who Drury actively wants gone - along with his mopey lameness half the time (and especially more prevalent this year because of how bad he has been)
I love Kreider, but I see the argument that the team can't move on to a new chapter till the whole bandaid is ripped off
If we are not playing Schneider on the right side, why not just trade him for a top 4 LD? RD have higher trade value than LD typically.This. You need a handle change. 95% of the board would support it too
Because we have 2 Dmen currently signed for next season and Schneider is 1 of them. So it would depend on who you're trading him for. Most top 4 LD's aren't on the market unless it's an overpayment or contract status is coming up. Right now we have a player signed for 2ish Million heading into next season. If we are not playing Schneider on the right side, why not just trade him for a top 4 LD? There were 124 players taken in the 2020 Draft from Rounds 4-7.Come on man that has to count for something! Who cares if they don't have much talent ... that's not what's important. This only makes sense if they're moving Mika.If they bring JT Miller here, it's not to usher in a new core, it's to supplement the existing one. They want his contract because it's easy to shed in 2-3 years.
There were 124 players taken in the 2020 Draft from Rounds 4-7.
19 of 124 have played an NHL game. Rempe is one.
5 of 124 have 2+ goals. Rempe is one.
I'm no Drury fan/defender, but complaining about the 165th draft pick - who has already exceeded expectations for that slot by simply playing an NHL game and scoring a goal (and a playoff goal ) - is strange. If the Devils drafted him, the complaints would be that we passed on a 6'8 monster for some winger that can't skate and that the Devils get it right again.

I fear you are right but I am hopeful this past month + episode will force Drury to recognize, admit it or not, that bern is right andIf they bring JT Miller here, it's not to usher in a new core, it's to supplement the existing one. They want his contract because it's easy to shed in 2-3 years.
The same core group Drury is looking to purge whether it's in March or in the summer. If they bring JT Miller here, it's not to usher in a new core, it's to supplement the existing one. They want his contract because it's easy to shed in 2-3 years.

Way too many PP minutes.
As a matter of fact, I think those came during our last game!Way too many PP minutes.
My point is leave Schneider on the right where he belongs. But if our LD situation is so dire that we need to put Schneider there, just trade him for a LD. Schneider would be the over payment because RD are worth more than equivalent RD.Because we have 2 Dmen currently signed for next season and Schneider is 1 of them. So it would depend on who you're trading him for. Most top 4 LD's aren't on the market unless it's an overpayment or contract status is coming up.
