This. Bringing in another top 4 LHD has been the biggest need since last year. The issue is can they do it during the year or need to wait until the summer. Either way Lindgren is not the answer and they should trade him before the deadline for whatever they can get back. If they don’t bring in another d-man would try Schneider there for the rest of the year. He was decent on his off side at the beginning of the year paired with Trouba, which is no easy feat.

I think Drury clearly sees Miller as guy to put in place as the new leadership core. How he wants the team built. Miller, Cuylle, Lafreniere, Berard, Sykora, Othmann, Edstrom, Schneider - all these guys can play a more hard nosed style while still having skill on their lines. It is pretty clear the type of player he wants up and down his lineup.

I’m not really seeing the common denominator here. Most of those players are relatively slow, or small, or obvious bottom six guys. Where’s Panarin’s replacement? Or even Zib’s or Kreider’s? If people think Kreider is a lousy leader, you’re gonna love Miller. Let’s see some of these 175 pounders play in the NHL for a year or two before we get excited about their hard nosed style. And calling one of those guys hard nosed really makes me Laf.

Yeah, but will moving Lindgren shatter the emotional psyche of this core? It may take them weeks to recover, so they'll miss the playoffs in the process, even if they do get a true top 4 LHD.

Might as well move Kreider as well, be sellers and move Mika in the summer. They've proven they cant handle adversity.

You know Drury is going to make some moves and theyll either miss the playoffs by a point or get booted in the first round. At the very least, be patient please. Wait until a week or so before the deadline

Come on man that has to count for something! Who cares if they don't have much talent ... that's not what's important. And those late picks hardly hit anyway. It's such a crapshoot, who even cares man! Why even bother trying to find that really good kid flying under the radar. That's not what we need. You don't want more prospects in the mold of Fast, Hagelin, Buch, Duclair, Berard, etc.... what we really need are more prospects that are tall with questionable hockey ability. That's what we need. And maybe if we're lucky they can turn into a dime a dozen extra that's hanging around purely because of their size.

I like him. He does mostly everything right and seems like an intelligent player, though I'm not 100% sold on his play below the circles. His rush defending has quickly improved and I could see him being inside the top 10 D players within just a few years. ....but I think I'd take the center and run with the hope of it working out in a few years. Of course i'm also sick of not having areal #1c so I could be biased here.

He rarely engages in a way on the ice as a leader

He helps coddle Zibanejad who Drury actively wants gone - along with his mopey lameness half the time (and especially more prevalent this year because of how bad he has been)

I don’t know. The other game against Columbus, when the guy who beat up Rempe went after Urho, Kreider intervened. When one of the young guys scores a goal, he’s the first guy to enthusiastically congratulate him. He got Kaleyev’s puck for him when he got his first goal as a Ranger. Before a face off I see him communicating to the Dmen and others about positioning and such. Please explain how he is to engage on the ice as a leader.

How is Drury actively wanting Zib gone? Other than Kreider who is no longer on his line, who else is coddling Zib? What does coddling mean?

If we are not playing Schneider on the right side, why not just trade him for a top 4 LD? RD have higher trade value than LD typically.

Because we have 2 Dmen currently signed for next season and Schneider is 1 of them. So it would depend on who you're trading him for. Most top 4 LD's aren't on the market unless it's an overpayment or contract status is coming up. Right now we have a player signed for 2ish Million heading into next season.

tho we need to rejuvenate the vets now, sell high while they have any value
We need to see zib -- who has to go anyway -- dealt. Then reassess Kreider based on his health
I don't put it past Drury to be stupid and blame CK for supporting MZ; it was his duty to try and get Mika to get his own head out from his own ass

I fear you are right but I am hopeful this past month + episode will force Drury to recognize, admit it or not, that bern is right and
best approach is flip vets to get quality youth that max extends window
= mo cup chances

the key will be if they recognize need to get something for bread
and esp if they see moving Fox, Shesty is catalyst to reorient team's trajectory

Well, there is a difference between success for the player and success for the team.

A 6th rounder making the NHL is certainly a success for the player. He's far exceeded expectations since most players taken there don't.

At the same time, a 6th rounder making the NHL as a part time 4th liner is not really much of a successful pick for the organization since the players impact is extremely low and no higher than you can acquire off the waiver wire.

Going back to the 2015 draft to give it some time, were the Devils, Flyers, Bruins, Lightning organizations better off because they drafted Seney, Marody, C. Hughes, Imama who got minimal NHL time than the other 22 picks that never made the league?

Drury also wasn't the GM when Rempe was drafted.

But you could have really just stopped at this being a Gorton crew run draft. The only guy the NYR have taken with that profile since Drury took over was Roobroeck.

It would be an odd complaint there because he’s done nothing but improve his stock since being taken.

My point is leave Schneider on the right where he belongs. But if our LD situation is so dire that we need to put Schneider there, just trade him for a LD. Schneider would be the over payment because RD are worth more than equivalent RD.
