That's so strange. The majority of these pundits said Hagens was the unanimous 1st overall pick not long ago. Schaefer hasn't played in a month but now he's the 1st overall pick by "a substantial gap". Huh? I don't even have much of an opinion one way or another about one over the other ... but how does this make any sense?

I feel like this is a lot of coaches but just once, can't we get a coach that has good ideas to begin with?

I would very genuinely be cautiously optimistic and intrigued if we were to hire someone with virtually zero professional hockey coaching experience but who had a resume that demonstrated significant hockey knowledge and leadership qualities. Naked, honest truth. I would carry limited expectations but feel a strong sense of “hope”.

Maybe they wrap back to that Swedish coach they were linked to a handful of years ago. Lord help me if I remember his name..Gronberg? I'm almost positive @Amazing Kreiderman knew who it was the last time I asked.

Like a player?

Wasn’t the book on Quinn that he was a better recruiter than he was a coach?

In hindsight, it doesn’t take some genius to recruit for the greater-Boston NCAA teams. They’re the premier schools in the system located in a top tier city.

Don’t trade for Miller, the team is playing well, the lines are gelling. The rangers still need to have a mind for the future and I’d still like to see them trade off the rentals, maybe with the exception of Borgen if there’s a chance that they sign him.
While I can see this, I still don't trust the top offensive players on this team to play well enough to do anything of substance.

Rangers are the only confirmed place that we know Miller wants to go
All other places - Carolina, New Jersey, Dallas - are just speculated that he may waive for there

Rangers have no pressure or timeline

Vancouver reliable insiders reporting that they have been working on this for months now. They have gone to the table for serious talks multiple times now. The front office there clearly wants this behind them. They see themselves as a contender. Other teams aren't going to be giving up players that legitimately help them still compete now. Clock is ticking there.

I think Drury clearly sees Miller as guy to put in place as the new leadership core. How he wants the team built. Miller, Cuylle, Lafreniere, Berard, Sykora, Othmann, Edstrom, Schneider - all these guys can play a more hard nosed style while still having skill on their lines. It is pretty clear the type of player he wants up and down his lineup.

He wants to build a team that can play like the Rangers did last night on a consistent basis. JT fits much better than anyone in our current core.
