Miller beefed with Horvat and ran him out of town too so color me skeptical that it’s Pettersson’s fault Vancouver’s locker room sucks.

He’s also had plenty of in-game incidents that make him look like a total dick. Screaming at teammates on the ice, banging his stick on the goal to get the goalie to go to the bench even though the coach hadn't pulled him, arguing with Luke Schenn on their way off the ice after a period ended. Guy’s just an ass hole.
No you misunderstood. He's alpha and hates soy. A real winner.

The D is better now, not complete. It needs youth and another offensive DMan. Jones isn't that guy.

Mancini may get there in his mid-20s, but it's not natural at this point. None of the prospects outside of him and Fortescue have any real promise. They might marinate enough, but Kampf and Larrson have been ok in college. Scanlin is probably going to be in the Lampman/Baranka/Potter/Connor Allen trajectory.

I'm not a fan of trading Sykora and Chlemar together. I really like the later as a compliment to Edstrom or Cullye at some point. Berard should get a crack again this year. Kalyiev is Michael Ryder.

I truly think this gets solved this offseason. Gavrikov is the guy. The key will be what depth Drury can manufacture behind Fox and his partner. Schneider will be around. What about Vaak and Borgen? Miller? Would anyone be upset with:

Gavrikov-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Vaak-Schneider
I wouldn’t be upset, but it doesn’t strike me as a top 10 D corp., and most of the recent SC champs have had a top 10 D corp. in my opinion.

I would.

It's another missed opportunity for an actual #1 or 2 to play with Fox.

If you want to go with that "type" of player, Marcus Pettersson is probably a better fit and I don't really like that one either.

Chychrun would be a terrific fit but he's going to cash in big time and he's also a lock to miss 15-20 games a year (if not more!)

If they're going to trade someone like Laf, it has to be for a young LD.

So JT Miller yelled at some dudes and argued with a teammate on their way off the ice.

34/100 on the arsehole scale with Sean Avery being 100.

Not worried at all about that, since all I hear about from this board is stuff about a country club atmosphere. So Miller is Rodney Dangerfield. Big whoop. Get it done.

I like JT Miller. I just don't want to give the Canucks Lafreniere and/or Schneider for him. How Drury looks at that I don't know. He's balking apparently but he also apparently was pretty close to doing something a couple days ago and probably one or both of them. I can't see however just Miller if both of them went---that's two pretty high functioning 23 year olds for a guy in his early 30's and creates a hole in our defense if Schneider leaves that Mancini is going to struggle for a while to fill.

That said JT could be a leader (and more) on the ice that Mika no longer is---he can produce but also play with a real physical and nasty edge but then again he also could be a total jackass in the locker room.

My gut tells me at least as far as this season we'd be better off sticking with what we got. Bringing JT in with the idea that somehow we're going to save the season----my gut tells me with or without him we're probably not making the playoffs and even if we do we won't last very long.

Does Miller count as 'franchise altering'? I would have thought that Igor at $11.5m per (and even long term Laf) is far more altering than a Miller trade unless it involves Laf, something else from the roster/top prospects and at least 2 firsts.
Drury has to assume that he's going to be GM for a while, and as such needs to ice a team both tomorrow and 2 years from now. They happen less often now, but Miller seems more 'change of scenery' then truly 'altering'
I was responding to a guy who was recalling the Eichel non-trade, so I was really thinking of that more than Miller. But, sure, a Miller trade could be frachise-altering. It would depend on what the deal included and I think the realistic scenarios maybe aren't truly "altering," like you said, but who knows? I would also guess if he made a Miller deal, he'd probably try to make another big deal or two before next season. I don't disagree with you, but my overall point was I think Drury really wants to remake the team.

First the leadership thing. It’s all bullshit. This guy has been kicked off of 3 straight teams. He rubs people the wrong way because he’s an asshole. I expect him to be hated by his teammate's here, more than anything else. He’s not going to change the vibe for the better

That is the EXACT type of person the 2025 New York Rangers need in the locker-room though and everyone on HFNYR seems to know it. The dream of a perfect leader for the team, that perfect gentlemanly 1C that wins you cups and also Lady Byng or Selke trophies is long DEAD. This team missed on Hughes and they missed on Stutzle. It sucks but the franchise is never getting close to a top-5 prospect again unless Dolan dies and under new ownership this team decides to be in the ditches for 10 years minimum and phase out of existence willingly. It's incredible to me that people here actually want to sign up for something like that when we're on the potential cusp of something special.

I still think had there been a real loudmouth asshole in the room in game 7 of the 2023 1st round against the Devs, the Rangers would've probably won. Had there been that man during the ECF against the Panthers, the Rangers would've probably gotten those two wins or at least stretched it to 7. Had we had him in 2022 maybe we also would've stretched that Tampa ECF out more too. I'd bet my life savings on it. We've seen how wimpy this team has gotten and can get and it needs to officially end. One of the only missing links this team has is a wild bulldog player with ELITE skill and it's something every other team that's competitive already has or is about to have now that everyone saw what the Florida Panthers did with Tkachuk. Why do you think teams are jumping into the Miller conversation now at the last minute? They want a piece of the pie before it's shutdown for good. At least Drury has been watching this unfold for the past few years. He knows more than us and he's been waiting for this.

We blow this J.T. deal by being too stingy you can say hello to basement dwelling for the rest of the decade. Lottery picks out the ass every year for what will feel like an eternity in hell! Sorry but I really don't want that boring shit. That's not why I became a fan when I was young and I doubt it was why you did either. This NYR team needs J.T. now more than ever and he should've never even been traded by this team in the first place. It was a major mistake but it was also what has lead him to potentially reuiniting with us again as a better man. Chalk it up to destiny or fate maybe, we can still build around him + Trocheck as a 1-2 Center punch and that's more of a plan than sticking to youth we already seem to have wasted and gambling on lottery picks until we're old & grey.

Give them the unprotected 1st, get it over with, move on, expend some of the future for a chance to build back better this time the way we really want. The questions about how this team manages the contracts like Zibanejad are going to be reserved for the summer, for now it should be about adding J.T. & then Gabe Perreault in the next month to go on a sneaky run while everyone already has us counted out.

It was neither.

Chytil, Lindgren, 1st and others. Sounds like one of the teams backed out because of the conditions on the 1st.

This guy is as plugged into the Canucks as anyone.

If they want him, waiting them out is the way to go. Other teams in on it are NYI (who short of Dobson can't offer any "now" help) and Carolina (who can.)

Carolina honestly should do it but as RB mentioned, their owner doesn't like to pay guys.

Got a feeling that a Miller trade is imminent. There's likely some haggling over prospects if the Rangers want the draft pick protection. Insider on these boards said that the Sykora and Chmelar scratches were not trade related - maybe it was Rangers scratching them to possibly be trade related but it didn't get to that finishing point. Give them Berard as the cherry on top for Top 10 pick protection. Lindgren has been lauded for leadership, something the Canucks desperately need. Lindgren, Chytil, Berard, 1st top 10 protected. I'm good with that.

He is just the kind of player that Drury has shown that he likes. Guys that can play hard, don't get hurt as much. Everyone has watched Zibanejad get neutered through tough plays of the Hurricanes (Jordan Staal twice), Lightning, and Panthers. Chytil plays like glass more than ever. Drury wanted to reshape the team to more of what he wants it to be like this summer but clauses got in the way.

Cuylle, Laf, Trocheck, Miller are all guys that can play heavy up front.

Zib plays decent to close out the year, he gets shipped in the offseason. Kreider could go at the deadline still. K'andre Miller seems ripe to be moved based on play style (or lack thereof)

Could easily see the Rangers adding a big time guy like Rantanen or Marner

Laf Miller Panarin
Cuylle Trocheck Rantanen/Marner

Miles better than what we are doing right now with that top 6. Give Fox a real partner like Gavrikov
