I don't care what it's worth anymore, the country club Rangers era ends the minute J.T. is back in red, white, blue.
Get it done Drury.
Get it done Drury.
We're iffy to make the playoffs. Even with miller. If we somehow luck out into a top 3 pick and get miller, I'm not missing the opportunity to fill a massive hole.I agree with everything you said except I would give them our pick with no conditions. They’re taking our part time 4 mil center and Lindgren. God bless them.
This is the same flawed logic that collapsed the last window. Slats setting picks on fire didn’t matter because “McDonagh’s only 27” “Stepan’s only 26” “Kreider’s only 25“ and the farm has studs like Buchnevich and Skjei waiting to make the jump.Perreault and Fortescue are looking good.
Emory needs more time to develop but is looking very good.
And considering we do have talent in on our NHL team we don't need an entire roster of blue chips. We need to fill holes. Some of them are big. Center and LD. But we aren't that far away from filling them. One lucky draft, or a good trade/free agency.
All the "prospects" that sat have the collective potential of nothing, no one, and not even close. Also it’s very clear that there was prospects included in whatever deal with Vancouver. Why else were those guys sitting if not?
So saying it was just Chytil, Lindgren and a 1st is likely wrong
This one gets it.Because we are probably only 4 or 5 players away from going somewhere. Miller, a healthy Kreider, and Mika actually staying in shape during the off season could very well be 3 of those players. Their rather healthy cap space could bring in 2 or three others. I don’t think we’re that far away.
If Kaako was a CHL prospect and left in Junior for an extra year to work on skating and strength would anyone have batted an eye? This is Kakko's rookie year.

It would have been borderline abuse to keep feeding this player minutes. It's not ice time.
You guys gotta get off that idea. It's a stinker.
What hurts more than adding is all the opportunity loss not selling off Smith, Borgen, Kreider, etc. Imagine Tampa Bay sending a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Sam Carrick.
It just seems to be a trend the last few games. They have 3 or 4 in more than half the season. What exactly is the issue here?
Again, Miller can't even fix the room on the team he's already a member of. Yet he's gonna storm in here and change the culture of this group?
The guy has caused a giant rift amongst his teammates. He's rumored to have feuded with numerous players during his tenure there. His name was in rumors before he signed his extension. The team is actively trying to get rid of a player who put up 100pts for them last season.
This guy is wearing a giant red flag and Rangers fans think it's a f***ing cape and he's Superman.
Maybe it’s a definition of “all in” but the negative aspect that comes with it is missing. Going all in was what the Rangers did in 1994. Some equivalent of such direction in this iteration would involve including Lafreniere, Cuylle, Schneider, Miller, Pierreault in this deal.I guess we will find out but dont tell me that bringing in JT does not scream of going all in with this core.
I dont think so but I guess we will find out.Depends on whether or not they actually run with him+the big 3 after this season.
I think if this happens, Zibanejad is a goner by the beginning of 2025-26.
The funny thing about the JT stans is that they believe he is some kind of leader that will reshape the locker room. How did that work out for him in Vancouver? If he is such a leader how come he is the odd man out AGAIN for the 3rd time in his career.I don't care what it's worth anymore, the country club Rangers era ends the minute J.T. is back in red, white, blue.

We're already going to be in that hell with or without Miller. It would make me happy for the Islanders to have the same fate.Lol which team are you referring to here? Could EASILY be us lol
JT won't replace Mika if Mika doesn't waive and so far we have no indication that Mika is willing to do so....(BTW: JT's contract is only a year shorter.) As for a deep run -- I'm not a proponent of having another failed run with those guys just because you can.I dont consider bringing miller in "loading up at the deadline"
I consider it making a move to replace Mika "long term" with a guy who's deal is shorter, and is still actually producing.
I consider it an opportunity to push Mika out in the off season without a drop off in play.
I'm not a fan of getting Miller and burning a prospect or an early first. But for the reported offer? I run with that.
and if having Miller/Mika/Trocheck as 1/2/3 gets us a deep run? I'd consider that a positive, and then move CK and Panarin in the off season anyways and fix our defense.
This is how I feel & I think is a responsible & honest take.I find our system pretty mid given the lack of blue chip prospects and the club’s record of not developing them into stars anyway. The only guy that excites me is Perrault and there’s still a 75% chance they turn him into a tepid grinder.
Is there anything you can factually post to back this up?I don't care what it's worth anymore, the country club Rangers era ends the minute J.T. is back in red, white, blue.

There is so much incorrect information in this post I’m not even sure where to start lmaoYES
and that is worth more than gold currently in the modern paradigm of the NHL, headed into the half-way mark of the 2020's. Have you not noticed how much of a stock there is again on wild hotheaded players? The Tkachuk situation in Calgary basically confirmed anyone who is similar to the Tkachuks in mentality will fetch high market prices when made available regardless of the situation.
Rangers have been trying to get someone like that for years.
Drury wants to get it done now because it will prove formidable for the future of the franchise when you have young prospects of tomorrow being able to learn and adapt with players like Vinny Trocheck & J.T. Miller. This team has accumulated a luxury of stock in the form of prospects in the past 7 years. People can complain all they want about the Rangers development but all of these young players want to be poached from other teams and they have a real amount of value. I know people here on HF like holding onto chips but it seems as good a time as any to get something productive done with a player that isn't just a rental.

I think that has everything to do with the fact that their younger star has indicated that he doesn't want to go anywhere.
Not for nothing, but not everyone is on Pettersson's side in that locker room. It's divided enough that the FO even seriously considered moving him which sounds crazy as he was just extended and when he's right, he's probably a top 5-8 player in the league.
I think the shit we're hearing from other players who shared that room with BOTH of them (and these are the best sources because they were actually there) indicate that the messaging could probably be better from JTM, but Pettersson really needed to nut up and get over it.
I don't think having someone of that mindset is really a bad thing, especially since we almost had a team wide melt down because they got rid of a 4th liner and tried to trade an underperforming player. It was bad enough when we had an asshole like Kravtsov come into the league with a sense of entitlement but at the end of the day he was just a kid who I don't think really likes playing hockey and plays simply because he's good at it and thought he was way better than he actually was (seriously though, f*** that guy.)
It's unacceptable when you have a veteran laden room lose their shit because some of their friends were shipped off, especially when the guys wear letters and have been here for the better part of a decade (or longer in CK's case.) No one is saying they should be thrilled - I doubt that the Tampa core was jumping for joy when the TB FO told Stamkos to buzz off but they got over it and look all the better for it.
TLDR; I wouldn't assume that Miller is the problem in the current scenario. Pettersson sounds a lot like some of the problems have have permeated the NYR locker room.
Now whether or not it's a smart idea to hitch your wheel to someone with that many miles on them is another conversation entirely. I think that one is valid.
I truly rather use a 1st to get a player like Walman or anyone to play on the top pair.
Be THAT as it may, we DON'T have to be silent sheep and just shut up and take it.Be that as it may, Drury is in charge and we are just along for the ride.
Just wait until we acquire Kane too…So Miller is this year's Patrick Kane?
