You're starting to sell me on Farabee.

At this point, I think I’ve said what I can about him.

I’ve probably posted several pages of notes and examples. We’ve discussed and dissected videos and highlights. I’ve invited people to tune into games and have him come a cross bar away from a hat trick. He’s played as good or better than other top prospects in those games and I’ve delved into stats and explained situations and assignments.

If people don’t see it, there’s really nothing else I can do to convince them at this point. I have to respect their opinion, even if I don’t agree with it, and let things play out.

I’d love for him to be a Ranger, and I think fans would too when they saw him. I think there are some sexy options out there, and some of them might even be better. But Farabee has a shot to be right up there with them in a few years, if he’s not close already.

That’s how I see it.

I also think his ceiling is seriously overlooked.

Everyone loves the enigmatic high end skill guys, but I’m not sure the odds of that materializing are quite as high as some may think.

It’s kind of like the concept of a couple year rebuild. People are interested, and support the concept, right up until they realize just long it takes to get through 82 games, or 164 for that matter.

I agree. I think he's the kind of player who will sort of quietly sneak up those "redraft" boards in his D+1 and D+2 years and end up being a kid a lot of fans wish they had taken. I also think his skill level is consistently overlooked by a lot of people. It's not like he's a plugger who gets by on his motor. He has a lethal release and great vision.

Rumor on the trade rumors board says Lindholm has asked for $5m per. If that is anywhere close to what Namestnikov or Spooner are asking for that’s nuts. And then if they’re asking for that what is Hayes asking for?

They're both asking for that. cap is 80M, not 62M. your 4M restricted guys of a few years ago are now 5M. 5 is 6. Hayes is probably gonna ask for 5/30.

The release and the vision.

And the IQ.

The IQ is tremendous. And one of the talents you cannot teach. You either have it, or you don’t.

Wasn't Brooke's reporting 5x$4.75?

For Hayes?

Great if it was true, but he has a habit or writing musings as things that look like reports.

Sounds like something the org would like to be true. He'd be leaving $ on the table without question.

I think he's unfortunately a victim of circumstance. It's hard to be viewed as a driver of the play when a lot of folks on the outside can't see past Hughes and Wahlstrom.

I also think it's entirely possible he's a one-and-done college player as well. Especially with Quinn having left BU.

How long do you expect him to stay at BU? A year?

IQ is great, but it has been a while since we had a young player with a truly great shot; we have quite a few IQ players already

on the idea of listening to offers on hayes and skjei....first we should be listening on everyone. but there is no way i'm trading either for a draft pick. package together picks if you want a higher pick but if i'm dealing either guy i need alot more back...

but its funny that both guys were brought up together because IMO from a trade standpoint they are very much tied together. The reason that I say that is that if I'm dealing Hayes I want a young top 4 dman in return (preferably a RHD) and when it comes to Skjei barring some ridiculous offer that we can't turn down, I would find it nearly impossible to move him without first acquiring a dman to replace him. we can't afford to move him without one. so for me a hayes trade would be the precursor to a skjei trade....although my preference would be to keep skjei anyway and have 2 actual dmen

can anyone explain to me why so many posters are suggesting a hayes to calgary for hamilton deal and then immediately flipping hamilton to edmonton for the 10th overall pick where we would probably draft a RHD who in the best case scenario might be almost as good as hamilton?

am i missing something or is hamilton not the top pair RHD that we so badly need?

I realize that right now the theme is all about fantasy draft day scenarios to set us up for disappointment tomorrow night...but no way i'd flip him. give me a top pair of skjei and hamilton

Channeling their inner bern.

One of Zadina/Tkachuk/Wahlstrom with our 1st pick - even if that means moving our 2nd rounder to move up

Bokk/Kaut/Kravstov/Marchenko/Addison are who I'm looking at with our picks at 26 and 28
- I'd even move on of our 3rd rounders to move up to get Kravstov

I don't expect Spooner/Names/Hayes to be traded for picks at all. If they are moved it is to package with a pick to get a much better pick (aka a pick swap rather than acquiring an additional pick) or to get a player that already ahs NHL experience.
I think this in a nutshell is spot on.
