Karlsson was always supposed to be chased in Free Agency.

No team is going to be able to trade for him unless they take on the Ryan contract. There's only 3 or 4 teams in the league who have that kind of cap space.

Of course with this team you have to believe it when it actually happens not when it's actually said but it's good at least it this is being said, right?

Stay the course build this team to compete against the young guys the Devs, Flies and other rivals are building with. Get some players that are going to be really hard to play against that won't give any of those guys a lot of ice to work with. I know everybody wants skill if you look at all the other boards all the other fans want it too. In this day and age with the parody get some guys that are really tough to go up against that you look in the schedule and go oh no I'm going to have to go up against this guy.

I believe we're starting to see a picture of the plan.

I'd say the leadership core next season will be:

Zuccarello - C
Shattenkirk - A
Kreider - A
Staal - A

I just looked at this guy's twitter, there are a few issues here

1) Why does some random Alberta junior scout have info on the Rangers dealings when Brooks doesn't seem to have it?

2) He also has rumor updates for like every team. Calgary and Edmonton I could understand because thats the area he is from and works in, but basically every other team? Don't think so. There are only a few insiders that have sources like that, and if he was one, he would be on TSN or something

Nothing to see here if you ask me

To be an insider is literally a full time job. Listen to some of the podcasts out there...these guys spend all day on the phone and have multiple cells from different carriers to make sure they have reception.

I trust the big boys.

Rangers probably *are* close on a few deals but are waiting for the draft to start to make said deals.

Gorton's got some magic up his sleeve, I feel.

I think Hayes+ will be moved for a d-man, Fox or Hamilton. Trouba could also be a possible target.

And I have a feeling they will make a deal with the Pens for Hagelin.

I think any deals the Rangers do are going to be about maneuvering in the first round. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the roster remain intact until July 1st.

I'd hope that they at least move Spooner and or Namestnikov for 2019 draft picks, but I suppose that can also happen at the TDL.

What is the incentive to take Hags back again along with his cap? Does Sprong or a pick come in return?

I worry about Hughes ability to play defense. I get the whole...who needs to defend if you always have the puck...but sometimes he's gonna play against guys like ovechkin Crosby mcdavid hall matthews etc etc etc....you still gotta defend...he's gotta be one of the weaker defenders from what I've seen and read.
Hughes is stronger than Boqvist (from what I’ve seen he’s strong for his size and more physical than Boqvist) and better defenively than Boqvist and Bouchard.

I just don't see the need for Hamilton right now. I also think the team will be pushing for Karlsson's services in the near future. Where do Hamilton, Shattenkirk, Karlson, Pionk play?

I just don't see the need for another right-shot defenseman right now. Now, another RH center who is 23 and has 45 points in 72 games and 44 points in 82 over the last couple. He would fit this next wave of young players really well. Chytil and Andersson are both LH
You see EK on this team, I don't. I also don't know what shatts status holds next summer, so our viewpoints are a little different regarding RD

That very well may happen, but it doesn't need to this weekend. Once teams know they're out on certain UFAs, Spoons and Names might look more enticing.

Hell, if Tavares re-ups with the Isles now that Trotz appears to be signing there, what does that do for Hayes' trade value? He's probably the best center out there by a considerable margin at that point.

Yes, the idea would be to get some assets back, fill a depth winger role for 3/4 of a year and then deal Hagelin at the deadline for further assets. He would also provide a good presence in the locker room for 3/4 of a year
