Great hockey player, no question...but I seriously cannot think of a player the Rangers need less from a personality perspective than JT Miller. He's always had rumors around him of being a bad locker room guy and teammate. Literally exactly the opposite of what this team needs.

This is why they want him. They want Miller as the new captain. They are going to give him the keys. Hypothetically If they want to break up the country club atmosphere you want Millers “brand” of leadership. I don’t know that it is that Miller is a bad team mate/locker room guy. I think you probably have a situation in Vancouver where the locker room is split in the middle with to polar opposite personality types. Drury probably thinks you trade for Miller, give him the C, and let him set the tone. Is any of this a good idea? I have no idea, but you can see Drury’s logic. It’s certainly not what I would do, but here we are.

Aren’t Miller and Trocheck friendly? Train together in offseason? Lot of people like Trocheck for Captain, myself included, so I could see Drury seeing those two complimenting each other well to culture shift this group and doing it fast given you just extended Igor.

What do we think the deal was. I have seen the tweets by the Canucks beat writer.

if you have an opportunity to get a Center that had 100 points in 2 of the last 3 seasons and they want a player like Sykora in the deal - If I'm Drury I'm personally driving Sykora to the airport.
