Laf can join a rush very well, as he is very good at being involved in high skill plays; but, he doesn’t really carry the puck himself to manufacture the zone entry or the big play itself often. He wouldn’t work so well at center because of that I think. The lack of being able to carry the puck up ice and create has been one of the biggest declines in Mika’s game.
He did last season

IMO he’s shown he can do it. He’s definitely been in a funk but we’ve seen it

the bigger kakko thing is - we shouldn't have traded him. we shouldn't be trading anyone under 25. ..
Coming from someone like you who definitely has been around here for awhile and should be informed is frustrating because of it.

It was said times and times again - ever since Kakko and Drury signed this one-year deal that Kakko was going to be moved. KAKKO WAS NOT GOING TO SIGNED HERE AS UFA. In year and and a half Rangers would have absolutely no control over Kakko’s career, and the only reason Drury didn’t want to trade Kakko right away is because Kakko’s 2023-2024 season killed his value. If you’re disappointed in what we got back for him right now - imagine what shit deals Drury was getting after last season was over.

PS. Listen, did the Rangers organization had an impact in the way Kakko’s developed? 100%. They needed to have him in AHL in his first year, should have brought a Finn to take Kakko under his wing, stay more patient with him during ELC years etc. But ultimately player has to wrestle the opportunity for himself and when we look at 2023-2024 that should have propelled Kakko to getting a long-term contract like Lafreniere did, that fiasco was close to fully on him.

Up in the Blue Seats live:

I stopped listening when Larry theorized Miller will be a better player in the next 3 seasons than Laffy so the Rangers should make that trade. Larry thinks the Rangers have three more years with this group. He mentioned the Rangers have some kids coming. It doesn’t matter who the f*** is joining the team if these guys are blocked by the over 30 gang. Gabe Perreault should stay in school if the two big contacts on LW are on this team. I should have stopped listening when he brought up his idea which he wrote about earlier this week about playing 3rd team broker. Some of these rentals on the Rangers could require retention.

Wasn’t brooks just saying this group was cooked two weeks ago?
The Rangers had two good weeks. Jump back on the Rangers bandwagon.

You move for Cozens the idea is for him to be the franchise's 1C which is a HUGE gamble. He's never played more than 17 minutes a game before. He'd be at 20+ here.
Sometimes you need to roll the dice. I remember watching Cozens with Peterka and Quinn. Cozens looked like a superstar. He was terrific.

Whatever they get could be used for something else, or we call up some guys from Hartford and get to see what they got.
What are we going to get out of 4th and 5th round picks that would make this team exciting (that they don’t have already like depth players)?

Brooks wants to trade Lafreniere for Miller. He thinks the Rangers have three more seasons with this group. He wants the Rangers to re-sign Borgen and move Schneider to LD to play with Fox. Larry needs to retire.
Wtf? Larry was just on board to trade the rotten core away and now he wants to trade the future away? What he drunk during this podcast or whenever he said it?

If you’re taking the time to post and argue about the construct of a hockey team, you’re basically bitchy by nature no matter what side you happen to take on any particular issue. Myself included.
incorrect. those who agree with my opinions are well reasoned and agreeable. those who disagree are combative, ignorant, needlessly negative and/or unrealistically optimistic.

Trading with Vancouver feels much more likely to have JT involved, but I have no interest in including Schneider for an over 30 player

Chytil, Schneider, Garand, Berard for Pettersson

Rangers first for JT? If Vancouver just wants out of the contract and rid of the headache, we can fit his salary. Recoup a fist around the draft by trading Mika, Kreider, K'Andre etc. then.

To me it's crazy pills. A defenseman who is older but on the right side of 30 that can play on the 2nd pair on a team starving for defensemen and two picks, one of which is a third is a good return for a guy that is a middle 6 player. If Kakko got drafted in the second round and had the exact same career arc we'd have a completely different perception of the guy. Since we made the two trades for defensemen the defense has been above average. The Borgen move improved the team more than keeping Kakko. Players are extra motivated and in small sample sizes often go on a tear post trade. I remember when a career middle 6 guy was playing like a bonafide first liner in Andrew Copp. He went to Detroit and was back to what he was. People have so much PTSD over Buch and Miller that they now think that'll be every player. Buch and Miller were better players than Kakko when they were traded and Miller in particular had one of the most unique career arcs in NHL history.

These two things are literally the opposite. And you're starting to sound like bern ranting about his "haters".

They still are. As far as being a contender. Who cares if they’re getting a few points now. They’re still shit and Drury should be working hard to break them up

Cozens has one year of outlier shooting % and other than that he's just a guy getting overpaid.
That whole Buffalo team went on a crazy scoring bender 2 seasons ago and all their players got heavily overrated as a result. Cozens is not a 1C

Rangers need a backup center for when Chytil hurts himself getting dressed in the morning. Ryan McLeod from Buffalo or Frédéric would be my top choices due to age and contracts. Could be a nice under the radar move.
I'd sign Frederic and see how Laba looks in camp. Those two and Trochek can be the middle six 6cs while Mika's contract length decreases and until another center is actually drafted or they sign a big UFA.

par 1 = disagree,
KK could have been kept, would have continued to have chemistry w/those who already exhibited this and could have been had imo for a good enough # w/long term no nmc only reasonable ntcs
I agree Borgen has been a useful +, but paying KK currency to acquire was wrong

par 2 - clarification
bern champions free speech and competition of ideas
but bern does have to call out the handful who think they can mock him w/o consequence, by misrepresenting his positions, or selectively ignoring parts of his positions to try to make him look bad.
Those detractors need to and will be called out so a false narrative is not allowed to prevail
and I will give them the comeuppance they deserve

this is in opposition to the 99% of the board which has honest agreement/disagreement w/me
