Agree -- that's normal market value. But don't put it past Drury to get Drury market value. Other GMs know he's fighting for his job and will play hardball and I think they can alpha their way into Drury taking a below market value package.

I don’t think so.

These aren’t rental players and he really isn’t under any obligation to trade these guys.

Plus bidding wars would emerge for someone like Kreider. His availability more or less does the work for him.

Now whether or not he and the rest of his staff can identify the right pieces is another story.

If the idea is to move out the old core, IMO he’s one of the main guys as the new core leader
Definitely this. Build the forward corps around Trocheck/Laf Chytil/Cuylle. Ideally add a center that will ultimately be better than both of those Cs.

Does anyone remember when Jesper Fast talked shit on the Rangers compete level after he joined the Canes? Trocheck was part of that Canes team that embarrassed us in the bubble. He is the exact kind of player you want your young guys modeling their game after.

I feel like moving Zib is a pipe dream, but if it can be done it obviously should. Return almost notwithstanding.

Panarin and Kreider MUST be moved prior to this deadline IMO. Both should return significant assets that can really kickstart the retool and move this team in a new direction.

Trocheck and Kreider return a 1st+ easily.

No one is going to take a few months in a shit situation more seriously than years of the contrary. Kreider is starting to play his way out of his f***ery anyway.

Kreider doesn’t have chronic health issues. Hes recovered. He had chronic effort issues.
Kreider had back issues; they may/may not be chronic.
We hope/like to think he responds to treatment and that may require an odd day off or an extra 'maintenance' day here and there.

The narrative that he is at fault for lack of effort is bogus.
Efforts made to get Zib and to a lesser extent Smith untracked have been at his expense, incl as to reduced assist totals.

His linemates don't finish.

His contract is our biggest problem.

If you can't admit he's playing better since Christmas you are just a foolish hater and trying to defend your precious Kreider's (who also has played a bit better) by bagging on Z.
Z deserves every scintilla of shit and shade I put him under.
Yeah his contract, but Einstein, that's BECAUSE of his crappy play.

We are not 2 wks since Christmas.
Is his play ANY better? yes. Enough to brag about? NO.

Eye test confirms this his checking/def is WORSE THAN ATROCIOUS

And since you invited the comparison, let's do go there.

Kreider = still skates, contributes, is def responsible and is not long term at too much $$

Zib = opposite, across the board

It is you who are partisan to your pref player

What does Minnesota need?

Kreider, Lindgren maybe KAM

pry Buium and maybe someone like Heidt from then
We should not rush Kreider out the door esp since we have only 3 retains and need them for
Zib to VAN
Panarin to DAL
and I'm with you on Lindy back to his MN home roots likely also needs retaining

Lindy not worth a 2nd, but I could see the 4th we got this yr from ANA + another future mid pick + Lindy getting us a 2nd, esp w/retention

hold KAM also for now
and if we do get enuf young D in multiple dif deals, putting him back at W and as an emergency D is an option

Agree. Any team trading for either of those players is a contender. We’re talking picks 17-32 and most likely closer to 32 than 17.

disagree
we saw WAS's version of Rempe be effective vs us yesterday.
There is no reason Rempe can't be effective for us
IF THEY JUST FUGGIN LISTEN TO BERN AND FUGGIN PLAY HIM REGULAR 4TH LINE MINS
instead of the bs they are currently doing

You guys have to take your blinders off
He’s just big and reckless
He’s had 1 good game and even in that one he gets suspended
He’s going to cost them more games cause the refs hate the guy which doesn’t help

what are you smoking son

who is the highest ranked prospect traded for a vet in the past 5 years? jiricek no, askarov/edstrom no, yager/mcgroat no, maybe you could count jordan harris for laine but he was already an NHLer. Moser not a prospect but highly regarded, went for Segachev who is a 1d with massive cup pedigree.

We won't get any return as large as the Sergachev return. not even for a retained Panarin. You think teams haven't paid attention to how he fares in the postseason?

Toffoli got a 2nd and a 3rd after putting up a 59pt page thru 61 games. Expiring, yes, but Kreider is putting up a 36 point pace. Where are you getting a f***ing 1st++ from lol.

Savoie is a decently high ranked prospect, traded for Mcleod, but he is a smaller skill wing type - the type that teams are most willing to part with.

They certainly don't trade the type of guys we are looking to build around.

I have no hang ups about trading Vinny at this point unfortunately. Coming into the season I wouldve said a few things. The D needs a little retooling, Mika needs to regain his form and we need further development from the young guys. I think we would've been in good shape here. We needed to shed Tuba and Goodrow's money at some point so we can re-sign the more important pieces. There was no getting around that.

But the wheels completely fell off. We have major holes. Kreider is the only one that could return something worthwhile at this point. You can sell your scraps, but how much is that returning? Quick, Borgen, Lindgren, Smith, etc... those returns are going to fill the glaring holes that we have? You might get some mid rounders, maybe you luck into a 2nd rounder. You kinda need Vinny as a trade chip unfortunately. Because if not, what are we really doing here? Where are these new pieces coming from? We need a 1C, our top 2 LWs will likely be gone. We have one legit top 6 wing locked up. We have some good young forwards on the team and in the system.

Zibanejad is on pace for 49 points. Trocheck is on pace for 1 point more. What are we winning with our vets playing like this? Mika was our top center. This season has continued his awful downward trend. He would need a major return to glory for us to be competitive. Are we counting on that? If not whos our future 1C? Vinny? Eh, no. Chytil I think actually has the skills to be a star, but does anyone actually trust his health at this point. He's a huge question mark.

Point being, we need as many trade chips as we can. The more ammo the better. 1C is the hardest to fill amongst our other holes. What is the game plan there? Pray Zibanejad becomes a 1C again? Sign McDavid? Pray we end up top 4 in the draft and get a chance to grab one of the cornerstone centers? What if you land in the top 10 and target another center, how many years away are they? What's the point in keeping Vinny then... theres just so many variables.

The only way I could maybe see it being plausible to keep him is if they can ship out a ton of salary and acquire JT Miller or another 1C... that could be a quick turnaround. Otherwise what's the point? It's the same idea behind keeping Kreider during the rebuild... leadership, veteran.... at the end of the day it didn't really mean shit. We would've been better off taking what we could. That very same summer we won the lottery and got a 1st OA LW
