The more I think about it, the more I wonder whether seeing K'Andre's performance in bubble camp might not have impressed the Rangers that basically every prospect at Wisco right now had their value artificially depressed last season – and whether that doesn't in turn increase their interest in a guy like Holloway, for example...

Of course but with tbe amount of NMC's and NTC's they have handed out that might be a much taller order than expected.

I'd be willing to make it worth their while, but I'd love to put the screws to Tampa, f them. Cirelli is a great fit for the Rangers too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it packaged with Strome OR ADA OR Georgiev in a big deal.

I should have prefaced that is based on Hank retiring, because you are right we won't be able to otherwise. We won't be able to do much if he doesn't.

Funny how last week or so we were all going crazy if the Rangers drafted Guhle like BBkers mention with the 10 pick over some of our needs.

Our luck might have been once again losing out on a player that we really like in Lundell one spot before we drafted--not this year as the hockey ping pong gods were with us.

I honestly don't think Guhle was going to be there guy at that spot. They like him, but there was going to be other guys they liked on the board.

I am fairly convinced the only defensemen they would've taken at 10 were Drydsale and Sanderson.

Had they advanced in the playoffs, and found themselves in the mid-teens, maybe a few slots lower than where they were pre-lottery, he could've been the BPA left for them. But at 10 or 11, I think they had forwards they really liked.

The gauge for Miller won't be his stat line or offensive numbers.

It'll be his ability to play defense and make decisions.

It's going to be learning from experiences in the WJC where more talented competion really exposed some of Miller's areas in need of improvement.

I'm not saying this to shit on Miller. I'm saying to provide levity because we get really high on these kids, watch a bunch of highlight reels, and then we get depressed when reality sets in and they have to make major adjustments against the best hockey players in the world.

The quality of player that will be available if the Rangers keep their early 20s pick will depend on when the run on defenseman starts earlier in the draft. If a lot of defensemen fly off the board, some good forwards unexpectedly may drop. If later, they may be able to go defense. Watch the story unfold.

What are those other pieces though? The most obvious candidates all have no trade restriction.

I know that they've been able to houdini their way out of precarious positions before, but they're going to lose someone they don't want to this summer, be that Sergachev or Cirelli.

Well we've seen a lot more from the names being mentioned in the past few pages. Either they are marquee and will cost us, or they don't have first-pairing upside. So if Miller can step in comfortably to third-pairing minutes next season, it doesn't make a lot of sense to go get a Dunn or an Edmundson, who aren't going to do well with 1st pair minutes.

That is a rather BIG IF. He is raw, still learning to play defense and did not have exactly an eye opening year in college. That combination makes me doubt that he is ready for the NHL. And I would rather, much rather be more conservative for a kid with his abilities.
