I don't think that's inaccurate.
I think the overall difference at the NHL level will be pretty negligible, but you're not wrong when talking about their play in juniors.
Skjei I believe was more of a salary cap move than they actually wanted to trade him.
The 1st was too valuable imo. Skjei was done here, who knows if the 1st is still an option in the off-season?If they firmly believe the team is a playoff team, like you stated, then a salary move like that gets made in the off-season.

Lets hope he's kept in touch with ArtemiFWIW if Torts keeps blowing up at Dubois we might be able to pry him outta there.
I see what you mean. Nobody knows how we would have looked if this team was able to keep on playing because they were on fire. Really sucks that they lost momentum the way they did with the stoppageI agree with that thinking about Skjei... what I'm saying is that the possibility of the 1st not being an option in the off-season doesn't matter if you firmly believe the team is a playoff team. You keep the best roster for the stretch run that you possibly can.
I'm sure they believed they had a shot. They were right there on the bubble. But firmly believed they'd get there? No.
I want Barkov but we aren't in a position to trade assets for him. We need to build the bottom 6 and get a 2c. Trade assets for Barkov and you have nothing in the bottom 6If we added Barkov this team immediately is a cup contender. That would be a coup de gras. I’d say there’s about a .1% chance of that happening before the deadline of 2021 but here’s hoping.

I think the consensus is Lafreniere is the better player, and has the better odds of being the better player.
Byfield, isn't quite on his level right now, and has lower odds of being the better player, but if he hits on those odds, it's an incredibly dangerous combination.
The Rangers have typically when one of Bob's go-to survey teams. The fact that 10 out of 10 teams had Lafreniere number one, tells me the Rangers wouldn't pass on him for Byfield. I could be wrong, but I just don't see them passing on Lafreniere without getting a major sweetner to off-set the risk.
FWIW if Torts keeps blowing up at Dubois we might be able to pry him outta there.

Which one?FWIW if Torts keeps blowing up at Dubois we might be able to pry him outta there.
They played much better than they did in these 3 games, that's for sure. They weren't on fire. They were 4-4-1 between the deadline and the pause and they were giving up well over 3.5 goals per game.
Would you send Ottawa the first for their third and fifth?

I'd very seriously consider it.
I think the Rangers would do it.
And Kreider and Igor got hurt iirc. All i remember is that they were making a bit of a run towards the endTheir offense did, yes.
What do you think a package would look like for Barkov? And don't forget we still need to resign him along with Zibanejad soon. Just don't see how it would work but stranger things have happenedWe could easily do both. This team has so many picks, prospects, and roster players to work with in a trade. The assets being moved for Barkov certainly wouldn’t overlap with assets moved for a bottom-6 player, at least I hope I wouldn’t.
We have the assets to trade for Barkov, a LD, and a bottom-6 Player or two if we want to, though I’d be happy with any one of those things being done. Chytil/Gauthier/Lemieux is one half of a potentially useful bottom-6. I’m guessing Fast will be a cap casualty. Replace Howden with a decent 4th like center and McKegg with an NHL player and our bottom-6 is looking much better.
