He won’t spawn unless you say his name 3 times in a row.

Didn’t you watch Beetlejuice? Or Candyman?
RB hasn’t been around? Ha I thought he put me on the ignore list after I challenged him so many times last summer over the Panarin debate. He didn’t like someone detesting his personal opinions on how the team should be run. His way or the highway for every stance on every player. Trade anyone over the age of 25. Always maximize value. I think the Kreider extension might have put him over the edge lol

Does he have a say? I thought they could trade him to whoever they want?
Exactly. I think it’s feasible that Eichel could force Buffalo to trade him. But if that happens, Buffalo is not going to feel obligated to send him to his preferred destination. They’ll get the best deal available or keep him. If Eichel is going to refuse to play where he’s traded, in defiance of the agreement the PA and the owners have made, then I don’t know what to say. That’s uncharted waters.
Without breaking my brain, I’d say the most logical outcomes are Eichel stays in Buffalo for the foreseeable future. Or they trade him for a haul.

I miss @RangerBoy and hope he’s well and back here soon.

it makes for fun discussion but I think there is very little chance that eichel gets traded...this is just like all the times mcdavid was going to want to be traded...my $$ is on within the next few days jack comes out and 'clarifies' his statement by talking about how great the fans are in buffalo and they deserve so much better and he is here to be part of the solution. blah blah blah

but if he does get moved my guess is the ducks or kings

I tend to agree with a lot of the things he says, but he can be abrasive with people that have different opinions. I didn’t want Panarin, and now feel like an ass with the way he’s played. I also wanted us to trade CK, but he really took a bargain deal to stay and he’s been a very good player for us on the ice and in the locker room.

We’ve been burned by big contracts in the past, and the last time we attempted a rebuild was when Leetch was still in the league. I understand his rationale and despite his rough edges I think most would agree RB’s a quality poster and an asset on our boards with all the crazy shit he seems to know about the players and teams in the league.

The question for us on Panarin was never about this year. It was about years 5, 6, & 7. And those questions will remain unanswered until we get there.

Maybe? But the Rangers can put together the best offer out of any of those teams.
Actually I think LA can put together the best offer by far with their prospect pool. My point though is that the Rangers are not the only team that could put together a good offer. Those were off the top of my head. There are others.

If the Sabres wanted to trade Eichel (official hint, they don’t and won’t), he has no control over where he might be sent for the next two years.

Yes but I also questioned if he’d be a PPG player for us because we haven’t had that production from a big signing for awhile.

I know a lot of you would like to punch me in the ballsack for this, but id pursue Cirelli a lot more seriously than Eichel.

Chytil / Cirelli with some moving parts on both sides.

There. I said it.
I’d love to get Cirelli too. But he’d be awfully costly. Every team would be interested.

I’m not offering peanuts here ;)

TBL are in a position where they’re going to have to move players sooner or later. I know the + next to Chytil won’t be insignificant for Cirelli. But I’m interested In hearing what might make sense as a base.

I think TB would want way more than Chytil. Like Fox or someone like that. I just think they’ll make other moves and keep Cirelli. They should definitely trade the little centerman Johnson asap.

Yes of course, the younger player who scored 2 less points as a defenseman. Makes sense.

I agree that RB is a quality poster. I have even said as much in my opening in quoting him, that I respect what he brings to the table here...although I am almost positive he then replied (paraphrasing) that he did not care that I respected him and felt he was a quality contributor to the board. Either way I let bygones be bygones. I still view him as a great Ranger fan.

As for those two topics;

I only wanted Panarin if the money was fair and I think it was. I acknowledged it was absolutely a gamble and as @TheBloodyNine just noted (who I had a ton of run-ins with over this last summer) its the latter years that will be a concern and remain to be seen. If we can get 5 quality/standard years out of him then I will feel it was a successful signing AND that we likely developed a Stanley Cup roster in that time or at least one that can contend. Its risk analysis and hopefully we come out on the right side at the end of this deal. Heck if they win a cup in 3 years and then he falls off a cliff then I couldnt careless lol.

Kreider...I do not believe he was so easily replaceable both on the ice and off. And I also felt you need to have some stability and carryover from one era to the next, especially a homegrown piece. And it also came down to the contract. If it was fair then I was all for it. But I absolutely understood that if he was asking for a market deal then we had to trade him. I also believe that JG just never got a sweet enough offer to move him even if they had a potential contract that both sides agreed on.

Regardless, cant wait for hockey. I cant wait to see this group go to war even they are ousted in the round robin. It will be a great experience for them.

And I hope @RangerBoy is well.

I'd take a look at Connor Corcoran , Declan Chisholm, and the giant Curtis Douglas--I'd offer them ELCs if they become available. Plus, Alexis Gravel, Shawn Boudrias, Allan McShane, and Jordn Kooy. The goalies are just pure upside gambles. There are a bunch of other players on that list that are interesting and have skill, but never showed much progression. And someone like Nassen, who would be worth a gamble but who probably doesn't want to come back over to play in the AHL.

NVM on Chisholm, he just signed.

I think Eichel is a great talent but I still find him suspect. Not sure he's someone you build around.

If we're going hard after Centers, I'd rather send assets/or wait for Barkov.

Why is Eichel suspect? It's because he plays for a bad organization. Would anyone call Mitch Marner suspect if he was available? To me, Eichel is the better player but just plays on a worse team. His contract is also better while playing in a more prime position.

He's exactly the type of player Gorton should go hard after if he were indeed available. All of the depth and prospects he has accrued over the last 3-4 years can't all play on this team.

I think Zibanejad is the guy. I’m thinking they’re also hoping he’ll stick around long term.

Either Kreider or Zibanajad will be captain. I always like how Zib pushes people at practice, making sure they don't cheat the drills and put the effort in. Kreider is more your typical captain.
