People surprised guy who took a discount to sign a buyout proof retirement deal wishes to retire here. Gonna be Mika time till he concusses himself out of the league.

Look strongly into moving Laf, someone tell me exactly what his plus NHL-level skill is? I think its vision, but he lacks ability to do Panarin style cross ice passes through 3 sticks so he just turns it over. Vision seems pretty worthless without ability to execute on it.

Have to wonder if Mika actually is ok with leaving but Drury asked him to make this statement to give him more leverage around the league. Trying to avoid a JT Miller type situation where the player gets sold for cents on the dollar because he's only open to one place.

Some one who knew what happened saw that he got the good guy award and said "lol f*** that!"

Don't think its any deeper than that.
This is certainly the simplest answer. Occam's Razor isn't a 100% thing, but would suggest it's the most likely thing.

I didn't think this season could get any worse, and they said "Hold my BodyArmor Sports Drink (tm)!"

The AP has reported the following:

"The NHL said the Rangers informed the league last year they were looking into sexual assault allegations by a team employee against Artemi Panarin after a report detailing the situation and settlement payments made to the woman surfaced Thursday."
This wasn't a situation where it was covered up. There was no similarity at all to how this was handled versus something like the Blackhawks or Penn State. There were no investigations, internal or external, at those places at all. The NHL was looped into this once it was reported. External investigations.

The discussion regarding the what actually may or may not have happened is entirely different. It merits discussion and being in the spotlight of course.

Players get criminally convicted of horrendous domestic shit and bat cleanup on championship caliber teams. This ain't that even.

Calling any of this a cover up is just ignorance, and frankly downplays the truly horrendous shit that a place like the Blackhawks did.

Honestly, I don’t think so. This isn’t simply saying I’m happy here and wanna be here. He basically said “I know what my contract - which I earned - says, so unless you’re buying me out, kiss my whole hole”.

But frankly, Mika is a better piece than Kreider and a more productive player than Laf. I’m fine with those two loafers going first. And Bread scores more than anyone but his play doesn’t fit any kind of system or team identity and he may sorta be an a-hole. Plus he’s a pending UFA.

Zib, IMO, will confirm to basically any team around him. He isn’t a strong personality. If the team works hard, he will. He may not rebound to 80+ points but he can be an overpaid but effective 2C quality player.
Kreider was always going to be gone; I think that one of K'Andre Miller or Schneider was always going to be gone too. The fact that Schneider never got a single run at a try on the left side despite our need there and Borgen's extension makes me think it is Schneider.

For the longest time I assumed it was Zib was the 3rd big piece gone as well. Interesting timing on the Zib questions and article today about his NMC, and the news about Panarin. Then Vince saying that it seems like just Fox, Igor, Miller, and Trocheck are the locks to be here (I assume the safe assumption was guys like Cuylle and Perreault wouldn't even be in discussion and it was more of a which vets are gonna go kind of thing).

Zib had been playing with Miller a lot of nights too.

Panarin as the 3rd guy to go, especially because his contract is so much more moveable and he would return quite a bit more in a trade, really has me changing tune to the idea that Panarin is gone too.

It also feels like a true 50/50 as to whether the Rangers keep their pick or defer. But I think there is a more than 50% chance that regardless of what they choose that they pick is going to be dealt to try to get a young Top 6 player here. Vince talked about keeping the 2026 1st for offer sheet purposes. Rossi, Peterka, etc.

Edstrom cemented himself as a NHL player which is a positive.
Man I really wish he didn't get hurt

I really like Carrick, but I also fully believe Edstrom could play center just fine on the 4th line. Him and Rempe could be good fits as anchors of that 4th line. If Berard gets run on the 3rd line consistently next year then maybe we see someone like Sykora get some 4th line time as well.

Will Cuylle had 20 goals and 300 hits

Matt Rempe is a solid 4th liner now that doesn't fall down when he turns too quick

Brett Berard is a cool dude, reminds me of Hagelin but not as fast (maybe that is Jesper Fast then?)

Yeah, that's about it
Quick has been a bright spot as a guy truly embracing the role.

Brodz has had a good season and been a leader for the younger half of the team.

Carrick has been a 4C stalwart and dependable most games. The de facto Goodrow replacement at a normal price. (I just hate seeing him at 3C.)

Turning Chytil into Miller was a plus. It's just heart breaking that it hasn't gone any better for Fil since.

Obviously Perreault coming in. Low key Laba coming in. There are a few good things that happened this season and they're worth mentioning. Just too many bad things both on and off the ice to garner any results.

With all of the drama currently (and for the past 10 months tbh), it's refreshing to point out a couple good things that have occurred.

ps:
I'm a little more bullish on Berard. I think once he gets more comfortable knowing where can get to on the ice, he's gonna flash some jets getting there. I don't love him on the 4th line, but the fact that he can functionally pull it off is pretty impressive. Conversely, I don't know if the 2nd line upside is there, but he's a player that you could fall in love with his game as a 3rd line fixture. Hagelin and Fast are good comps in that regard as a general "fit" on a team.

Sykora is progressing very similarly to boot!

All true. I think it's hard for people to be positive or excited about that stuff because pretty much all of it is complimentary stuff. The only real game changing thing for developing a contender is Cuylle taking another step towards becoming a true Top 6 power forward

Gabe has the potential to be a game breaker.
