Really? Not sure that's true because I think there are also trades where the "option" is announced as part of the deal. So in other words there are two types of trades...

  1. One where a team has the option of giving this pick or next year's pick to the other team.
  2. One where the condition of which year's pick will transfer is already baked in and cannot be changed..

I think the rangers/Canucks deal was #2.
I'm not 100% sure but people on this board who are in the know, as well as some of our beat, have discussed waiving the protection this year.

Either way, I guarantee you the Rangers won't do that. They 1) 100% think they're bouncing back next year and 2) already know what dumb pick they're making.

No. I'm saying he sucked ass this year and shouldn't get a pass. Not everything has to be one guy verse the other. There was more than enough ick this season to spread the blame around.
I don't think I was giving him a pass by bringing up his broken hand, but it's clear it's been bothering him. The entire team should be ashamed of their performance, not just Vinny, but I'd bet he wouldn't make excuses for himself. They all needed to be better. Regardless, this group has gone as far as it could go, they shouldn't get another chance to run it back. I wanted to gut the core last offseason or at least begin to, but we all know what happened.

Is this even a deep draft this year?

I'd think they would be 1 of maybe 2 teams that may want both Kreider and Z. They need help on the PP and PK and those are probably the only 2 guys they could get at the same time that play their best hockey on both.

I thought you wanted all the #6 guys? If you have 3 3rd pairs, then you have the best 3rd pair in the league.
wild have Kaprizov to sign and another top Russian Prospect coming. They also are targetting home born Brock Nelson. Wild aren't taking on any long term contract without resigning Kaprizov 1st. They also have Brock Faber extension taking place. Right now they only have 16 roster spot and like maybe 14 or 15 mil in cap

Kreider and Z will be gone. I could see Rossi as the target. Maybe Z and Kreider go to Minnesota. They have a load of cap and not even sure adding Kreider and Z would stop them from being able to resign Kaprizov.

Kreider and Z for Rossi, Chisholm and Stramel.

Edit: Just checked. They'd still have like 4.5 million in cap space after that trade this year. Crazy.
They aren't taking on Kreider. It's been made abudantly clear wild will add Brock nelson and Sign Kaprizov to long term contract and then they still have to fill out the roster. They also have to keep a roster spot , a top 4 roster spot for the Russian Top prospect they have coming

This just isn't accurate about their roster and cap. They will have Jiricek and Wallstedt full time next season. That already gives them 7 d and 2 goalies. They have a roster of 18 and 19.5 million in cap space. Chisholm seems extra with Buium signed. Maybe they do just resign Rossi and sign Nelson. But they could literally add Kreider and Z and sign Nelson. They have the cap. Bogosian could be sent out to save cap along with Trenin and Hartman. They just have a lot of flexibility and cap so there really isn't any argument logistically why they wouldn't do it. Only really that they simple don't want to. Which is a fair argument.

Speaking of the Wild is anyone concerned about the coaching and management over there?

What kind of an organization would burn a year of a players ELC and then not play him?

Not sure what the Rangers are thinking. Do they really think they can magically contend with this current group next year?
Yes!

I mean there’s a pretty sizable contingent of people here that believe that, so I don’t know why it would be out of the question for the team to think so lol

Rangers aren’t tanking, especially if they give up next years pick. If you want to trade Panarin I get it, but that’s extremely unlikely to happen if the Rangers are planning on competing which it seems like they are.
Do you have any rumors saying that they’re keeping the pick?
Vince said they’re considering giving it up
