top 13 protected.

They can still kick the pick over to Pittsburgh if its in the top 13, but if its 14 or later it goes over automatically.

They sit at 10th right now.

If nyr are below 13, when do they decide if they are keeping the pick? My buddy and were debating I said 48 before the draft he said 48 hours before the draft lottery.

the top 5 in 5v5 scoring since the new year is kinda shocking. it tells you this team might've had a chance if they hadn't quadrupled down on whatever stupid defensive system they've been playing. and if they could've fixed the PP. the craziest thing to me is that they traded all that stuff for Miller, a borderline elite PP player and then had him stand in front of the f***ing net every PP. for all his warts there's no doubt that Miller is dynamic on the half wall or even in the bumper spot on the PP yet we barely even tried him there. Mika should've been on the 2nd unit since that trade but he never ever lost his spot on the first unit. then you look at how well de Haan played the 3 games he was in the lineup for and then we never friggin saw him again, it's pretty clear that it's mostly down to the coaching. the GM traded for Soucy who we absolutely did not need and then the coach gives him 18 minutes a night.

I understand that some people are unable to differentiate expectations due to draft position and actual performance as a 23 year old NHLer, but I'm not one of them.

If you want to have a conversation about how "underwhelming" he is as a 1OA, I suspect we are on the same side. If you want to say "we should trade him for a bag of pucks", a comment I saw on here TODAY from someone else, we won't be.
I would not trade him for pucks either.....but I would have somebody working outside of games with him about his conditioning and off ice habits /strength training and such that he gets quicker and a bit more involved in the play away from the puck . He has so much more.....hoping that they can find it soon . I seriously have my doubts though that it shows up in NY .

I think he just needs to play more softball in the offseason. :D

I think they're both safe.

And I can say, well look Chris Kreider is third on the team in goals with 21 in only 64 games. But that's kind of sad when you consider the season in totality. It's all how you want to look at things. Kreider has had a really poor season. What's that mean for the rest of them if he's still third?

And then I could say that Lafreniere has what, 3 goals in his last 31 games or something like that?

It's all how you look at it.
spot on, except to add CK actual fuggin injury = legit reason.
NOBODY ELSE HAS ANY LEGIT EXCUSE
no body

Nothing....however, Mika doesn't deserve a porterhouse.
for playing [or not playing, as it were] for all but 2-ish months of the entire season, he deserves a shit sandwich at best

He got hot for 2 months and now returned to crap disappointment since til now
His little girl will enjoy Disneyland multiple visits
full max retain to ANA or LA
buh bye

this nonsense

also needs to be repudiated
do not want tara II
can see DET interest in CK b'c IF/when ck is healthy, = speed combo w/Larkin

ck to DET
for
Rasmussen AND 2026 3rd that morphs into higher pick based on ck playing/performing

otherwise no, still prefer he heals and see what we got then, how that meshes

Here’s a good example of how being huge doesn’t really mean anything along the wall when you have no skill or coordination to make controlled plays

Drury will ALWAYS choose the American born over anything else . Our team probably has the least amount of Canuck influence in all of hockey...it does keep the shelves bare of hardware .

Being Canadian i never wanted to say this because I figured I'd get tore a new one but it's true, look at every cup champ over the last number of years and where they're from. Canadian hockey players usually have a rougher road, especially the guys who play in the whl, they're more prepared, and more willing to run through a wall based on watching hockey night in Canada all their lives.

I know you’re kidding but I would not mind Q and/or Toews at a minimal contract.

I mean I'm not saying it would be a BAD move for the perfomance of the team, but it would absolutely make us even more the most hated franchise.

And then his forecheck caused a turnover and we scored with him screening the goalie the next shift. I don’t get why you feel the need to turn this into Rempe vs other kids rather than the lazy vets. But if you want to go there. Through Rempe’s first 5 NHL games he had as many points as Othmann & Perreault do in their 26 games combined (and more goals! They haven’t even scored one). They’ve spent many of those in the top six and getting PP2 time. One of those Rempe games played was only 13 seconds. Not to mention all the other intangibles he brings. You just hate the kid but he is the least of our problems, if half the vets worked as hard as him we’d be in the playoffs right now.

My Ideal Offseason

This will not happen but if I were Dolan this is what I’d do:

- Fire Drury

- Fire the entire coaching staff

- You need a GM and a head coach with fairly recent success, not a guy like Laviolette who won in 2006.

- Hire two people to be Co-GM’s who can bounce ideas off each other; a veteran GM and a first time GM, Dale Tallon and Steve Valiquette

- For head coach, if you wanna go the recycled route, it’s Joel Quenneville or Mike Sullivan if he becomes available. Torts would wear out his welcome by the end of the year. Otherwise, get an assistant NHL coach, AHL coach or college coach like Jay Leach, Ian Laperriere or Spencer Penrose.

- The team needs to be tougher to play against and needs more speed

- Trade Kreider for a pick or prospect

- If he waives, trade Zibanejad to Dallas for Marchment

- Trade Lafreniere, K. Miller and Sykora to Buffalo for Peterka and Power

- Trade Carson Soucy for anything

- Let Zac Jones walk along with any pending UFA’s

- Re-sign Kaliyev, Cuylle, Rempe and Parssinen

- Sign Sam Bennett for 7 years at $8.5M AAV

- Sign Ivan Provorov for 6 years at $7M AAV

- Sign Josh Mahura for 3 years at $1.5M AAV

- Perrault, Rempe and Kaliyev (if he clears waivers) to Hartford to play instead of sitting in the press box

Panarin - Miller - Peterka
Cuylle - Bennett - Othmann
Marchment - Trocheck - Berard
Edstrom - Carrick - Brodzinski
Parssinen

Power - Fox
Provorov - Borgen
Mahura - Schneider
Vaakanainen

Shesterkin

The Laf apologists just won’t quit.
Get him the f*** out of here. $7M for gutless out of shape puke. Shows no leadership or drive. Is barely physical. He loses almost every board battle and will not go to the net. GTFO

I'm not getting rid of any younger player until a new coach has a spin with them. Kakko shouldn't have left either.

if NYR lose out, they might get as high/low as 5th worst record/5th best lottery odds
