Speculation: Roster Building thread: Part XIX (Thanks, Sam)

Perreault is a LW

He is a RW.

He has played LW and RW. With College, he's been used a lot as a LW.
He was always billed as a LW/RW. Last season he played a little bit more RW than this season, tmk.

I admittedly slot him with us as a RW since he has more experience there in the past 3 years than all of the LW & C we keep putting out there at RW. Some coaches are more sticklers for handedness than others, though.

Lines from their last 2 games, and when watching the games GP was on the left side. So maybe he did play some RW other times, but he seems like a more natural LW to me

Vince even calls him a "natural LW" when projecting him starting off being placed on the right side
He has been used more regularly at LW this season, but "Natural" is a tricky word. Vince could simply mean "Lefty" in saying that. You have probably watched him more than me this season, but even then, him being leaned on as a LW more this season doesn't mean that's his "Natural Position."

I think he's a "Natural Wing." That's it. If Cuylle is more comfortable on the left, Gabe can slide over easily. If Will is feelin' himself on RW right now, then cool, Gabe can play LW no prob.

I haven't watched him like a hawk like some have I'm sure. But he is a playmaking winger that is a lefty. He was at LW in his most recent games as well. I'd just prefer him get that spot first rather than moving him to the right side. Kreider couldn't feed a primary assist this year if his whole family was held hostage at gunpoint. At least put the lefty playmaker winger at LW to start. It seems dumb

Next year Rempe and Edstrom on the fourth line and Berard up to third line.

My fear with college coaches, and it came true with David Quinn, is that there's already a built-in culture that you ride your seniors until they fall over and the freshmen are happy to be there. We're trying to get away from that.
I don’t think it’s the same. Watching college hockey these last few years with ESPN+, coaches rely on their best players. BC’s top line, and most relied on line, last year was 3 freshmen. This year it was two sophomores and a freshman…
Aside from that, we’re talking kids, so all things being equal, seniors are bigger, stronger and further along in their development as opposed to being a washed up vet…

Hoping they don't go crazy with Perreault but he should be in the lineup the rest of the way.

Wouldn't pencil him with any line, but I hope he gets some shifts with Cuylle, Miller, and Lafreniere. If these guys are the immediate future, he needs to get reps with these players. Trocheck too, but he's attached to Panarin, although that could be fun, or nobody shoots the puck.

As for Tung, you never know with goalies. I'll take as many good young ones for cheap or no assets wasted. Could open Garard to being a trade piece.

I bet it has to do with Garand being #1 in Hartford and Domingue leaves as UFA.

BTW, it's been two months since Edstrom was placed on LTIR and since we haven't heard anything about him since I guess he's still on the original 2.5-3.5 months timeline (more toward longer I guess).
