There’s no guarantee that it works out and I’m not really drawing a comparison, but it is crazy how San Jose can be in the SCF in 2016, so only 9 years ago, move all of their aging/unmovable contracts like Karlsson/Burns or get a good return for Meier/Hertl and end up with:

Celebrini, Eklund, Smith, Musty, Bystedt
Dickinson, Mukhamadullin, Cagnoni
Askarov

All between 19-22 and with a real chance at drafting Schaefer (or 1st) in a few months, 3 other top 50 picks, and other solid assorted prospects in the pipe. Karlsson was supposed to be unmovable. They cashed out on Burns, Meier and Hertl at the right times. Again, no knowing how it’ll pan out but it’s a kick in the dick that Lafreniere is 23 and Shesterkin is nearly 30 already. Our ages and were always misaligned. Shesterkin is closer to Zibanejad and Panarin, heck even Kreider, in age than he is to Laf.

Fleecing the Devils in the Hertl trade sure helped.

Lol, Kreider is not the guy getting the puck to Mika, he's the guy chilling at the side of the net waiting to have one bounce off of him. I would argue that any player in the league given this much ice time in the top 6, on the pp and pk would at the least have 5 assists on this team.

I saw Steve Ellis on Frank's pod. The Rangers will get a good player. Scott Wheeler of The Athletic wrote this draft class is better than the 2021 and 2022 draft classes.

The evidence, however, is clear that Kreider played in a completely optional tournament that, if he were indeed seriously injured, would've been in the Ranger's (and Krieder's) best interest not to play. And he played.

His choice. Let that f***ing "sink in".

Kreider is playing because he's telling the team that he can, not because he's being forced to. This isn't the the 1960's. NHL players are not "forced" to play through injuries - particularly if they are serious.

This is on Kreider who clearly thinks he's healthy enough to play and contribute and the evidence points to the contrary.

He should shut it down for the season and let Othmann play.

Three more seasons of this core group? Yuck. Drury should've been fired already. $11.5m for 8 years and a NMC for Shesterkin was ridiculous; I don't care what the cap will be 3 years from now; he's not 3+M better than the next highest paid goalie. He brought it JT Miller in to get the team to the playoffs; they're not much closer to the playoffs than they were when the trade was made. The only reason they're near a playoff spot is the other teams near them have sucked recently.

I'd rather give up this year's pick instead of next years.
