I posted this on reddit, but I had to post it here. This was in response to Mika's post-game interview last night saying he thought they played ok.
Mika has lost all sense of leadership, and at this rate his level of play is not that of a 1C. I would also argue that he's not a 1RW either. He has declined (as expected) into a a middle-6 player who can server as a Power-Play specialist... Unfortunately, that's also what Kreider is, and you can't have $15M tied up in 3rd line Power play specialists (according to last nights lines, that's exactly what they were played like)...
With Miller as a 1C with likely 3-4 years left in the tank, and laf as a future 1LW, those are the pieces that need to be built around...
Lafreniere - Miller - X
Panarin - Trocheck - X
Kaliyev - X - Brodzinski
X - Carrick - Rempe
All of the X's need to be filled. Perrault, Othmann, and Berard aren't taking the top line, there is room for MAYBE one of them on the 3rd line, which goes back to the same root problem with this organization that we had on 7/1/2024 -- the cosntruction of this roster DOES NOT WORK, and we once again do not have a f***ing Top Line Right Winger... No, a bargain bin trade/FA signing isn't going to fix it this time.
Remember that Drury made this very clear in the beginning of the season. This was the last crack at a cup with this core.
