Speculation: Roster Building thread: Part XIX (Thanks, Sam)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I've said last coupla yrs, give Brodz mo mins
general feedback was tepid/lackluster
The more he plays, the more he has better linemates [be it either hustling Rempe types or quality talent, but not the vesey/smith types], the better he has performed

I have said, we sell high on Zib, push Brodz, Carrick, Eds up in the lineup, mo mins.
In a very quiet, no so noisy way, little moments like today's game is proving, again, I was right, even tho he his actual scoring due to not playing/playing w/crap linemates, etc has suppressed his totals.

Give the Penguins this year's pick and keep the 2026 pick.

It's something to consider but keep this in mind. If the Rangers keep the pick this year they won't have the option of trading their 1st rounder next year because it will already be gone. Keeping the pick this year at least guarantees that we will have at least one 1st round pick the next two years.

The other considerations are quality of this year's draft compared to next year's and placement this year compared to next year which are projections---if we do rebound and make the playoffs next year that pick will be later in the draft.

Tbh I think we’d be comfortably in a playoff spot if the vets hadn’t decided to stop caring for 2 months.

They’re also very comfortably in a playoff spot now if the only thing that changed was the league used a 3-2-1 system. There’s been a ton of bad luck this year that has led to that, specifically the overtime record which is largely random, and that they haven’t tied the game with the goalie pulled once all year. That’s a lot of single points here and there missed out. There’s not really much correlation between how good a team is and how often they get those 6v5 goals. The leader is the Sharks with 14. Tied for second is Winnipeg with 10. That’s the team with the worst record and the team with the best.

Rangers not getting the extra points in OT/Shootout are not a concern to me, but are a massive difference maker right now in this wildcard crap

If the Rangers end up with the 10th pick in the draft, they should give up the pick because some people are afraid Pittsburgh will have an unprotected first pick in 2026? Can the Rangers be this bad again next season? They aren't even that bad. Some of these players are not even trying at this point. They are enjoying the Rangers grift for as long as they can. Chris Kreider is just cashing the checks at this point. Mika Zibanejad plays these games with no pulse. He only gets excited when yelling at the officials. One of the Flames players sticked JT Miller in the groin and Mika went crazy. Simon Benoit hit Kreider hard into the boards and Mika lost his mind. Don't you dare touch my man. Get rid of the coach. Hire a better coach than Laviolette. Not Mike Sullivan please. Make major and significant changes in personnel. The Rangers aren't going to tank. The NHL is so mediocre. The Rangers goaltending is too good.

Another consideration is that a player drafted in 2025 will be a year ahead of a player drafted in 2026 in terms of development. That player will, in theory, be able to contribute that much sooner.

Regardless of where we end up in the standings, we can't rule out a lottery win. We can only move up 10 spots at most, but a lottery win puts us in the top 6. I can't see us giving up a top 6 pick. My hope is that we either finish bottom 11 (and thus have a shot at the 1st overall) or make the playoffs. The next 3 games will go a long way in determining which direction we are headed. LA will be a tough game, but after that we've got Anaheim and San Jose, both games we should win if we fancy ourselves a playoff team.

Madness people would give this pick away because they are scared we will be worse. Won’t happen. And i could 2000% guarantee Drury would not give the pick up if it’s top 13, because what kind of message is he sending by saying “yea we will be worse next season so we’ll keep that pick”
