Also, another thing I have with Fox is that if you move a #1 defenseman, you might spend a generation looking for another one.

Robertson wouldn't be our best winger.
You could cobble together a worthy kids package from Dallas for Fox. Won't happen of course, but it's a very fun what if.

The Rangers clear out the rentals for picks. Use the picks to make trades for signed players.

Reilly Smith, Ryan Lindgren, Will Borgen(Chris Johnston on his pod said two teams have targeted Borgen as a trade deadline acquisition), Jimmy Vesey(Staple said the Rangers have tried to trade him), Chad Ruhwedel(stays as a roster filler), Jonathan Quick? Quick has a 20 team NTC list. Does he want to play for a contender?

The Rangers have all of their retention spots. Borgen is cheap at $2.7M. If there was a futures market for trade deadline betting, Dallas is one of the teams interested in Borgen. They are looking for a right handed shooting D who can PK.

Try to package Smith/Lindgren or Smith/Borgen for a 1st round pick. Trade Lindgren or Borgen to the Avs for the Rangers 2nd pick in 2025 acquired from Arizona/Utah. Colorado needs help on D.

Kreider goes for a first round pick. Future first round pick. 2026. The Rangers can include the pick in a future trade for a signed player or someone the Rangers want to pay. Kreider has a no trade list but the first round pick doesn’t have a no trade list. The acquiring team needs to have cap space for the $6.5M. The Rangers could take back an expiring contract or two to make the $$$ work.

The rest of the moves are tougher.
Not sure a single late 1st is enuf for CK, presuming his back responds to treatment and making allowance both that he is aging but keeps himself in primo shape, to some extent returns to form

Yep. I’d give him a pass this year to see if he can recover but it’s not looking good. However, this is similar to the Fox argument. Robertson’s skating was a weakness when he was drafted. He worked on it a lot and got to a level that was passable but then he had foot surgery this off-season and this year he is just unable to keep up. That’s the problem with guys whose skating is borderline; all it takes is a serious injury or a lot of cumulative wear and tear and you’re hoping they can regain the lost step. With Robo, I actually don’t think he will. He’ll probably be a bit better than he’s been so far this season, but I doubt you ever see more than 75ish points from
Him again. Not as worried about Fox’s skating, but it’s the same type of concern. Lose a step and it really puts you behind the 8 ball.
Up to a pt, newer athletes are gonna be bigger, faster
Prob 1 is not Fox as he is now but that he won't get faster AND WILL get slower going forward

Prob 2 is you either deal Fox NOW while he has no protection, or you accept you can't move him later

Yeah, I get the similarity, but the thing with Fox is that he's an unimpressive skater for the type of player he is. There are worse skaters on the team.

Robertson is on the shortlist of worst skaters in the NHL. He makes Kakko look elegant.
I am actually impressed as a D he has more skating demands than an F
again issue is not as much where he is [although that is already too slow]
but rather his trajectory

a base of trade built around

Kreider, Borgen for Bichsel and Borque

then get Mika out of here
While selling others first helps, Mika can still be influenced by reality of zero ice time which is legit given his performance this season

focus is on on the top9/top4

1. Tenacious, mobile Centers. Yes to Chytil and Tro.
2. Aggressive/attacking wingers who are willing to be physical. Yes to Laffy, Cuylle, Berard.
3. Big Mobile PMD. KAM??? Schneider???

there are some exceptions obviously/outliers.. Fox and Panarin are those. but if you don't fit that mold, you're gone. That's as simplified as it gets.

Wingers - Panarin, Laffy, Cuylle and Berard. We need 2 more in the aforementioned mold.

Centers - Chytil and Tro. We definitely need a top6C in this mold. So does most of the league? but with Chytil's health we possibly need 2.

Defense- Fox, KAM? and Schneider? We need a top4LHD in the worst way. This one HAS to be, Big, Mobile and not allergic to moving the puck. Pay the price.

Get a top6 Center who is mobile and attacks.
Get 2 more top9 wingers who attack and are willing to be physical.
Get a Big, Mobile PMLHD

that's my template. How do you get there? no clue.... but I'd trade Kreider, Mika, Lindgren and possibly use Gabe to acquire that top6C or top2-3LHD

Wonder who they are getting a look at?

Side note, idk if this @DaveyUpper guy (person who retweeted this) posts here, but he has randomly become one of the better Rangers twitter accounts that I follow. Just thought he deserved a shout out, I noticed he finds alot of this random stuff most ppl miss.

Garand is the only guy there worth half a shit, and is starting tonight.

Providence has only a couple guys to interest them. Not sure Boston is buying either.

Sounds great in theory

The only problem is, Drury cannot afford to miss the playoffs this season. I know they just reported that Dolan believes in Drury, but do you think that lasts if the Rangers were to give up on the season?

Rust, Rakell, and Bunting all have 3 years to go on their deals and all make $5M.

Pittsburgh's not there because they want Reilly Smith back.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING!! Thank you for making this as clear as possible.

Half the time, I think his stuff is all schtick.....but it really appears that narcissism is alive and well and thriving in him.

I once had a brief exchange with him on PM. He was exactly the same. When it's schtick like it is with most people they drop it in PMs. It's just him.

Again, you continue not to get it
Whether or not Dolan or anyone else gives a flying or stationary crap IS IRRELEVANT!
The pt is, this is the correct approach.

This is especially so now since cap parameters are hard and unyielding w/few loopholes

And to remind of what I said earlier, what I have said about youth is true regardless of who is saying it.
Dolan etc is compelled to accept it on merit for that reason

Failure to do so w/have consequences
Pity your hate for me prompts you to insist on taking the less beneficial approach that avoids consequences

The one who doesn't get it is YOU. You keep espousing this fantasy shit that will never happen and all I've done is given you a dose of realism and what has gone on here for decades.

Dolan isn't "compelled to accept" ANYTHING that you suggest and the track record here proves it.

This has nothing to do with "hate for" you and has to do with REALISM which is clearly a big issue in everything you suggest.

All of this isn't even judging your proposals on their merits but rather on the likelihood of any of it ever happening here, with this owner, with this franchise.

And that likelihood of that is ZERO.

But the pt is regardless of who props it, MERIT prevails
Dolan has a dif plan, if it does not have more merit than mine, it IS the worse option

THAT is REAL

but you do you...

Should the Rangers trade Panarin this session to get more value back in a trade with 1 full season next season or trade him next deadline where they would get less value back? Make up for the Kakko trade
