Well they could 'try' to make a playoff push but I think the team continues to spiral and they trade him at the deadline. In many ways, Drury made a good move because he doesn't call out that they are giving up on the season yet but he's giving himself flexibility to do just that and create cap space going in to the offseason

Rangers are still -120 to make the playoffs. The fanbase is just being overly dramatic because stuff is playing out publicly.

Despite the large amount of hate CK has gotten this season (much deserved) I predict he gets 2-3 times the trade return that KK got. Then we will see how NHL GMs/coaches value our players. Zibs return will be higher as well imo.

This is my GM, not that fraud, Drury

Avery in a cult classic to some of us. Kinda like George Mcphee, Chris Nilan, and Eddie Johnstone. A few here would love this guy in the Ranger management circles in some capacity. But the old NY is not the same.

I got a feeling that far too many would grab their woobies, chew all their anxiety pills from their PEZ dispensers, and cold call their therapists, within four minutes of his first press conference.

Btw. I have a box turtle living in my back yard named Avery.

Hoping today is a better day for some of you so apocalyptic over the trade of our 30 point 3rd liner.

If Kaapo EVER gets over 41 pts in an entire season, I will change my name to Cuppa Kakkosnutz.

Fingers crossed. Would they be open to Montreal as a package deal? Rammer can meet them at the airport.

You plug Berard into that spot next to Cuylle and Chytil and he’ll do no worse than Kakko there.

Zib is not movable, Kreider (holding way more value than Kakko) has not been on a trade block for long so if it happens - it will be closer to TDL or even offseason (I’m not 100% sure Drury will move him, unlike I was re Kakko).

I know folks don’t like either the fact that Kakko was traded or the return on the trade but there will be more moves. With each move if there’s no turnaround another will follow.

Goodrow, Trouba, Kakko. Lindgren, Smith and I suspect Miller too - the biggest haul getter.
I dont agree that this team is bad, I think they are playing bad due to a terrible environment. We were about 3 trades from being a contender for the cup this year and now the team collectively is all playing like a last place team. The root cause isn't Kakko and Miller, moving those pieces and bringing someone else into this environment will not change a thing and will probably make it worse. The GM created this environment, nobody wants to help him keep his job.

I dont want Drury making any more trades, he's terrible at it. I'll also say this, Zibs isn't going anywhere, he's not helping Drury out of this mess, he's got a contract they can't do anything about.

No idea but MTL did take Laine so possible. Proven goak scorers usually retain some value even in a down year.

What do you think GMs were offering for KK? What do you think was his fair market value?

completely useless and fallacious questions here. There's no way to know what was being offered, and someone who says "this Kakko trade is bad" doesn't need to defend that opinion by inventing fake offers as you seem to want to suggest.

The premise that Kakko absolutely had t be traded based on his on ice production is what's being disputed. He wasn't hurting the team with his play. He wasn't the problem.

If they were playing well, any of them, this would make sense but they just went through the softest part of their schedule and came out with an overwhelming loss record.

Im still gonna watch the games.

Quite frankly, Im greatly enjoying this soap opera of a season. It was necessary to change the culture and show us who the snakes are. And there are plenty. I've had no issue with Drury's methods because he's the only guy who has remained on a consistent message. Improving the roster. These are all moves that would have been made this summer if Trouba didnt block that trade and poison the well. Drury is also a snake, but you have to be one nowadays to run a franchise, especially one worth billions like the Rangers. At least we have a real motherf***er in charge instead of Gorton who sat on his hands so long they smelled like shit.

Im more than willing to fire the Little league Champions in the summer, but he's never been allowed to put his stamp on the team. Im fine with allowing him to do that, especially in what everyone is already calling a lost season. lets see how it plays out before everyone gets their Kaapo Kakko pajamas in a twist over it.

Gerrard Gallant, a coach so good that two years later he has yet to get a new job.
Why bother when you are being paid 4 million US....that goes further every day in Canada . Oct 2025.....he will be back in the NHL . He will likely once again turn another club around just like he did here .

They are cutting out the cancers, not tearing anything down. Trouba, Kakko. Next up is Lindgren, Smith, Kreider. They’ll deal with Zibanejad in the summer unless a miracle happens in season.
neither K was/is a cancer
stop

Team stat. Very weak argument.
Disingenuous to extent = wrong
yes, it is in construct of a team stat, BUT the catalyst of what drove the results was still the common denominator of this single player, Rempe
There were other factors but by definition, these differed every night, Rempe was the only common factor.

Good morning guys. I’ve slept on it and am able to be a bit more measured with my comments this morning.

f*** this team.

f*** Drury.

Goodbye.
til we chat again...

If every NHL coach you have had has benched you then your play has definitely had problems.

If your skating has been below average with no improvement in 6 years then there is a problem.

If you were drafted #2 overall and the most NHL GMs were offering for you after 6 years is a 3rd round pick package they also believe your play has had problems.

As the 2019 #2 overall pick KK has played 330 NHL games. How many of them was he a first star? How many was he a second star?

At some point if you are not part of the solution then you may be part of the problem.

I dont think lindgren or smith are cancers. They just arent that good at hockey anymore.

Kreider and zib are definitely cancers at this point.

Lindgren is a good guy and a warrior, but his on-ice play has become cancerous to winning games. Smith I actually like but he's another guy who just doesnt seem like a fit. I bet he'd welcome a trade to a western contender

Maybe not...but he was moving further away from being a solution . He would have wanted more than he was worth on a new deal and we have Berard and maybe Perreault assuming spots in the top 9 at a million a year and Othmann as well . We all knew a couple of seasons ago some players would need to be moved out . We needed a Dman badly at this time . The writing was on the wall for KK back in September /October . Did he take the bull by the horns and play like a desperate man since then ....NO he did not .

With the trade we got a Dman and it gives Mancini time to cook in the AHL. Losing Kakko may sting a bit for now.[until Perreault arrives ]...but it is a good hockey move in the meantime . One step back and 2 steps forward .

I get what your saying. I agree with it.

Kreider i think is a big lockerroom problem with his presence. There is a reason why he was never made captain.

A yet the absolute refusal of some to acknowledge this baffles me. I think I read somewhere that 13 of the first rounders from that draft have been traded.

Agree that it’s not a bad team. Disagree that GM is the issue. f***ing suck it up and play your hearts out - but this ingredient went missing. I bet a lot of players thought they will be able to just walk into playoffs and through a round or two until they’d need to show up.

He has to lead the league in poor shot attempts from inside the blueline when he hears a Dman approaching ......one of our graph experts must have that chart on their desk and likely could show us exactly what I am talking about . Even if they could do a chart from 5 years ago and another one from the last two seasons......
