How much of a teardown are Rangers fans expecting after the recent trades? It seemed like Trouba lost the captaincy (due to his price tag??) and Kakko got the boot for blaming management for the benching, but do you guys think they'll go for a firesale? (As an outside fan I think it must be tough to sell low when the big money guys aren't doing well, plus the media is so tuned in to guys' cold streaks, e.g. Mika's demotion, Shesterkin not being able to bail out the team, etc.). From an outsider fan's perspective, it'd be great if we could pry someone like Schneider loose from the team, but do you guys think management is going to be desperate and try to sell, or somehow wait it out?

They are cutting out the cancers, not tearing anything down. Trouba, Kakko. Next up is Lindgren, Smith, Kreider. They’ll deal with Zibanejad in the summer unless a miracle happens in season.

Chris Johnston had Will Borgen #15 on his trade list. The Rangers could flip Borgen or sign him to an extension. Borgen does have the size the Rangers need. 6-3 205.

A smart right-shot defenseman with good size, Borgen holds appeal as a potential rental. Historically, he’s been a good shot suppressor on the penalty kill — although the results aren’t quite as favorable in that area so far this season. He’s a good skater in the prime of his career.

Dreger does deserve credit for reporting Kakko was available a few weeks ago. I posted the link here. Many people here said Dreger was lost. Kakko was signing an extension. Wrong. The Rangers have been talking about a Kakko trade for a while. Dreger was the guy who mentioned Anaheim was a possibility for Trouba. Everyone was focused on Columbus or Detroit.

The Rangers wanted a D in the Kakko trade.

All of these teams want D. Lindgren and Borgen at the trade deadline.

The vets are playing like lame dogs and the solution was to trade one of our better young defensive forwards for a 6/7 dman. People are way too caught up in what Kakko could have been, him Cuylle and Chytil went weeks without being scored on, and on this team that's a remarkable feat considering our defensive posture. This is the type of line that wins playoff games. There is a narcissist at the wheel and we're all paying for it.

It’s water under the bridge but the entire episode is symbolic of this team never being able to draft a home grown star forward.

It’s appalling.

And it’s not coincidence. Something is wrong with what they are doing. And instead of fixing it they just rush the next guy out of town in spite of their own failings. Maybe there was no fixing the Kakko situation at this point but I still want heads to roll in the org for this failure.

Andersson, Kravtsov, Kakko, and Lafreniere. All misses or dramatic underachievers.

How is Lafreniere a miss?

The people who selected the other guys are long gone. Have you been paying attention?

I’m confused why anyone thinks Borgen would get traded at the deadline. They’re going to be trying to make a playoff push, they’re not trading him lol

The teams play will decide that. Like their play decided that the process of trading Trouba and Kakko would be sped up. Lindgren is next on the chopping block. If he doesnt go today it's just because he's lucky we dont have a game to lose before the roster freeze.

Have you seen our record and the next 14 or so games? Unless it's a 180 today playoffs is a dream

How would Lindgren be on the chopping block? They seem totally happy running him out there all night.

You plug Berard into that spot next to Cuylle and Chytil and he’ll do no worse than Kakko there.

Zib is not movable, Kreider (holding way more value than Kakko) has not been on a trade block for long so if it happens - it will be closer to TDL or even offseason (I’m not 100% sure Drury will move him, unlike I was re Kakko).

I know folks don’t like either the fact that Kakko was traded or the return on the trade but there will be more moves. With each move if there’s no turnaround another will follow.

Goodrow, Trouba, Kakko. Lindgren, Smith and I suspect Miller too - the biggest haul getter.

Well they could 'try' to make a playoff push but I think the team continues to spiral and they trade him at the deadline. In many ways, Drury made a good move because he doesn't call out that they are giving up on the season yet but he's giving himself flexibility to do just that and create cap space going in to the offseason

Lindgren is out there because Fox would start crying if they scratched him.
