Drury clearly rushed this move due to the media back and forth this week. Jumped the gun and sold at absolute lowest value. Will haunt us, zero doubt in my mind.

Not for nothing Kakko’s value has been the same for years. I wish him well, he wasn’t the issue but he’s a nothing player with not much value. Who knows but maybe he told Drury he wanted to be traded asap after the scratch.

If there isn’t at least 2 more BIG moves, I will flat out boycott this franchise. Kakko being traded is absolutely fine with me. I just want SO MANY other players traded more, sooner, more urgently and if Drury thinks this move achieves ANYTHING than he AND the players can all go f***ing jump off a bridge.
I hate this team to the bones.

Max value for Kakko would have maybe been a late 2nd rounder realistically. Kakko's value has dropped every single month since he first joined the league.
Yeah this is all that matters. I don't even care about the return for Kakko, I would have been pleasantly surprised if a late 2nd rounder was involved as the return, it is whatever.
But for the love of god just jettison the rest of the trash if you are gonna do stuff like this

Definitely a bummer how a great era of this team is going to get blown up so abruptly. It’s warranted, and past time, yet still a bummer.
On the flip side I am also extremely skeptical of Drury’s vision and ability to pull off a successful transition that isn’t Dark Ages / star-chasing / lipstick on a pig for 5-10 years. Igor contract doesn’t inspire a lot of hope in that regard.

People who were screaming for Igor to get the big contract get to enjoy 8 more years of mediocrity mixed with a 2nd round exit here and there.

Drury stinks as a GM and no one will convince me otherwise. Team is going nowhere with him at the helm

f***ing guy turns 29 in like 10 days. Extension doesn’t kick in until next year. Meanwhile we’re in such shambles we’re jettisoning the 2020 2OA in 2024 for WILL BORGEN and a 3rd.
The math ain’t mathing. We’re about to suck, whether on purpose or not, for a WHILE. Let’s sign a goalie who will make sure we always end up about 7 spots higher in the standings and lower in the draft than we should, so that we can be competitive again when he’s like 32-33 years old making 11.5M.
Einstein would be jealous.

This shit only makes sense when you realize the ownership of this franchise does not give a single solitary f*** about winning the Stanley Cup. Sure MSG Inc. will pay marketing lip service towards it. It’s a business. They care about playoff revenue and being trendy enough to show broccoli cut celebs on the jumbotron. Investing in goaltending is the surest bet towards delivering that over an 82 game regular season.

I think the team could definitely be a good playoff contender within 2 years; but they gotta commit in season to that reshaping this year

The only realistic trades I see from here is Lindgren and Kreider for a RW. With the way Cuylle has been performing I think it's reasonable to increase his ice time. Edstrom and Berard rotate as needed between 4th and 3rd line.
RW depth is ROUGH. Anyone have ideas on possible targets that are long term solutions?
Man that defense is not looking good.
I hate that we traded Kakko for pennies, but if it means more people are going to get traded I'm for it. I say that only if we don't repeat mistakes (tade for pennies)

The Rangers didn't just trade Rick Middleton. He's not going to become some 70 point two way monster in Seattle. Hes an NHL 3rd liner. I don't see the skating, the shot, or the sense to be a top 6 winger.
Best of luck to the guy though. Personally, I liked him.
