FWIW, I wasn't talking about Kakko (crazy coming from me, I know) or Zibanejad specifically, but the kids in general should feel pretty annoyed about how this has been going for the last little while.

I'm not saying there is a perfect solution. Demote the vets, they get annoyed (and on paper you are more likely to lose). Don't give the kids the opportunity, they will be annoyed (and the fanbase is annoyed). Who says being an NHL coach is an easy job?
It's an easy job if you just do what you want and the players can go play in traffic if they don't like it.

Torts has stuck around.

Wow. NHL Radio has officially called the Rangers face plant a "Mutiny"..

Even middling journalists are starting to point fingers at "this core" of quitters.

The Pegulas went into the Sabre lockeroom yesterday in Montreal. Total fluff job. Terry said that this team is supported by management, and no moves are being made to shake up the roster
Now got get em! Rah rah!

3 hours later they went out on the ice and got absolutely destroyed by the Habs of all teams.

Rangers, Isles, Sabres all suck.

a NY State of Mind.

You could have planted Kakko on the first line, given him all the PP1 time in the world, with the world's biggest leash the minute he stepped off the plane from Helsinki and he'd still be pretty much the same player.
What they could've done though is send him to the AHL, instead of trying to extract every bit of possible value out of him immediately because they decided the rebuild should go out the window and time to compete is now by signing Trouba and Panarin.

Would that make a difference to what kind of a player he's today? Maybe not. But I remain adamant that him and Laf should not have been placed in bottom-6 roles in their rookie years in the NHL.

I guess we'll just have to take your word for it.

Any insight on the lotto you don't mind sharing?

Kreider for Brassard, Dorsett and Moore. Who says no?

This is the kind of move it would be. A group of projects and nice depth pieces where hopefully one of them thrives.

Nobody in contention is giving us an important roster piece to add Kreider. That's counterproductive to what they're trying to accomplish.

It's really the only type of move they should be looking to make, unless a team is willing to cough up an NHL ready defenseman with a ceiling. They need depth.

Other teams have done it.

Tampa was close with how they treated McDonagh. They still got Guentzel.

Right though none of those teams traded a player they just extended right after the season ends.

Teams have traded players right before their NTC or NMC kicks in (even the Rangers) but those contracts were signed 2+ years before that.

What does he do out there that gives you any hope he's going to be anything more than he currently is? Not a great skater, doesn't have a great shot, doesn't really create much for himself out there either.

I thought we were talking about the alternate timeline that you just came back from.

Kreider has the 15 team NTC throughout the end of his contract. Some of the other players agreed to a declining number of team like Trouba and Trocheck. Which are the 15 teams? The seven Canadian teams. If I were a player, I wouldn’t mind playing in Toronto or Montreal especially Montreal if they are good team. Saturday night, HNIC. These guys don't put the division rivals on their list knowing the team will most likely not trade them there. Devils. Islanders. Arizona was a popular team to add to the list. Is Utah a destination city? Columbus for sure. Buffalo. Drury has 16 teams to make a trade with involving Kreider.

7 Canadian teams. Columbus. Buffalo. Utah. That's 10. San Jose and Anaheim. That's 12. Three more. Chicago? Detroit?

If Montreal is not on his list, Gorton would take Kreider. Montreal was interested in Trouba. He didn't want to play there.

Florida, Texas, Nevada and Washington have good tax situations.

Boston Bruins. They can use Kreider. When EF wrote he wanted to see Vancouver reacquire Zadorov from Boston. i thought of a three team deal. Kreider to Boston. Zadorov to VAN. What does VAN send to NY? Vancouver could be interested in Kreider but he has the clause.

Trocheck. St. Louis. Philadelphia. Minnesota. They are looking for centers.

Adam Fox. Dallas? I read the Stars are looking to add a RD and a forward. The Stars have the Seguin money. $9.85M. Wyatt Johnston is playing RW. He is a center. He would be a good add for the Rangers. The Rangers get their top 6 center. Thomas Harley would be another good add. Fox is at $9.5M. Harley is $4M. ELC for Johnston. Dallas has not put Seguin on LTIR yet. They are accruing cap space. Puck Pedia has them with $3.75M in cap space at the deadline. They could add Kreider and Fox at the deadline. Fox goes into Seguin's money. Harley and the accrued cap space is more than enough for Kreider at $6.5M and still have another $1.25M left. Seguin will be back for the playoffs. Johnston was terrific for Dallas last season. 2nd full season.

I love Fox but if Harley and Wyatt were coming back our way, Id drive him to Dallas. Seems like a pipe dream.

Kreider to Boston. Zadarov to Van. JT Miller to NY. Rangers would probably have to add Kakko or someone like that to Vancouver to even it out. Makes a lot of sense to me.

So many of you were singing different tunes about Kakko a month and a half ago before the team went on the downward spiral. Just admit you’re not immune to playing the “what have you done for me lately” game.

I’ve been here for a long time, Machinehead changes his opinions on players like I change my socks.

Swapping out JT for Mika would have Tocchet growing hair just so he could rip it out. That being said, it was reported the Canucks were interested in Kreider. I could maybe see something around him and JTM.
Base trade Kreider for JTM.

Then send Mika to Chicago for Bertuzzi

Wyatt and Harley is one of the few starts that actually gets me to answer the phone on Fox.

I'd also want Bourque and a 1st.

I don't agree with that at all. Sometimes I get swept up in the ebb and flow with the team as a whole. I think I've been pretty consistent on players.

Hand up, my opinion on Kakko changes by the day. Usually on off days I like the idea of him, then I watch him play and I remember why I dont.

To be fair, @Machinehead didn't suddenly start to like Kakko during our good start. He just became more tolerant of him. So his opinion didn't change, it was merely suspended for a while.
