Right, best season in franchise history over like 90+ games and it was all a fluke.

I was just reading an article that said the players held a players only meeting where they said Lavi is ok but Drury is a dick and must be fired. I could almost understand how it was a douche move to get rid of Goodrow based on his leadership and post season accomplishments but Trouba was a serious ball and chain. He really sucked and had almost no merit this season so moving him had to be done. What I dont get is how the players attempt to deflect all responsibility for how bad they suck and shift it to Drury. This goes back to my firm belief the core reason the Rangers suck is Dolan is a p***y who cant be an alpha dog directing the team. So its a clusterf*** of mismanagement and incompetence. This team is like herding cats the way theres no leadership and just vacant stares of incompetence. Im really losing my patience with these idiots.

I don't disagree but wanting a player who's never done anything to have more leash than washed up stars isn't realistic.
They both had good seasons before that.
They did more offensively to earn their spots than Kakko did. Especially Kreider who was an excellent player until he got decrepit.

So he tells Lavi, you gotta scratch Kakko for a game. The thinking is teams will smell blood in the water, thinking that Kakko is quite available. But he is not. I mean he’s a young cost controlled high pick who is improving. Drury is just trying to get SOME conversation with ANYONE

Leadership means something. It sets the tone for the entire organization below it. Whether it is the United States of America or a lemonade stand, you wont succeed without strong leaders. Drury, laviolette, the players. No one has stepped up. The closest thing to taking control as been Drury forcing Trouba out, and the room cratering. The rangers need an authoritarian making personnel decisions. Drury has to be it if Dolan is backing him. Rangers are the team of half measures.

Should apply to all players regardless of their past success.Thats exactly a big reason why this team is the disaster it is because the coach doesn't hold everyone to the same standards

No coach holds everyone to the same standards.
We can criticize Kreider and Zibanejad all we want, but hoping that third liners will get the same treatment as two of the team's top players is pissing into the wind. It has never happened anywhere.
Barry Trotz basically allowed Ovechkin to abandon defense and play 4v5 when they didn't have the puck. They won a Cup doing it.
My whole point was that Kakko doesn't have the production to get away with stuff.
Everyone else, somehow: "But what about these guys who produce a lot!!!!"
I could buy into your theory if he didn't trade Trouba and immediately sign Shesterkin to his extension. There was 0 reason to do this right now considering the state of the team, so yeah he clearly is not that calculating.

Why do the Rangers have 4-5 guys who get afforded this rope? Panarin is the only one whose production should allow for leeway. Kreider and Zibanejad are not half the players Ovechkin are. And never were. I think part of this rotten culture is Mika and Kreider drinking the Kool-aid from the fans all these years.

It's obvious that star players are held to a different standard than others. But there's a f***ing line. If you have continually sucked for multiple months, then your leash is going to get shorter.
It's obvious you don't bench a guy like Panarin or Zibanejad after one bad giveaway, in a way you might bench Vesey. Their jobs are totally different. Vesey is expected to make the safe play, while the former are expected to create. That inherently is more risky. And you accept those risks because the good outweighs the bad (in theory).
But when you have continued to look like hot garbage for MONTHS, then you should absolutely slide down the lineup in favour of the guys who are trying and making an effort.

...I can't be the only one who sees non-sequitur there, right?
Except that this year his production hasn't been a problem. Based on the play of the players above him and his own results, he probably should've been given more minutes and high-leverage minutes, not been scratched.
Kreider hasn't produced anything at 5v5 this year. I mean you make fun of Kakko for this all the time but seriously:
IDC about Kakko personally, very on-record to trade this guy. But the principle being argued is right IMO.

Right. I mean, the team was much more cohesive and giving a better effort last year, but it doesnt change the fact that the last 3 seasons they had 2 game leads in the series they ultimately lost. When things went sideways the core vets we've stubbornly relied on wilted. That's a lack of actionable leadership.
I disagree with machine on a lot of his stuff but he is correct here (as much as it hurts to say)
Mcdavid gets more leeway than say Josh brown.
Mcdavid also gets more criticism for things as well. It’s not as straightforward as just coach leaves guys alone.
Mcdavid might have a 2 minute shift and the coach is fine with it as long as he’s productive.
Brown stays on the ice for 45 seconds and even if he’s about to score the coach will rip him.
You can’t treat everyone the same, and no one should want exactly the same treatment.
I want everyone to be pushed to be the best version of themselves.
Panarin should be pushed to score the same but play better defense
Mika and Ck need to actually play with effort
Kakko should be encouraged to be more creative offensively and not be scared to make plays.
Chytil should be more demanding of the puck.
See different things for different players.
Hold them accountable for what they’re not doing that they should.
