Cuylle telling whoever that was "I'm gonna kick your ass next" was great. To be fair, yes, we then continued to get our asses kicked. There's more to it than that, but it was the first good vibe in awhile. The mental aspect is real. Like I said, I don't buy that pro athletes competing at an unfathomable level just don't care, but this team is not in the right state, and I don't think this group is ever getting it back.

He needs to be disinfected of Panarinitis. It's seeped into his game, replacing healthy hockey cells with dumb ones.

It’s possible but he’s also been most dynamic with Panarin, no? In any case, by the time we find out the cause for his inconsistent play, he’s probably not worth as much (or of course he does actually reach his ceiling). It’s definitely a risk. But most big moves require that, I think.

Regarding Kakko, and I dont really blame him for speaking his truth, but you can't really go around spouting off to the media and indirectly pointing fingers at your teammates. Even if you're right. Which he is. But the team is in a bad rut, and you have to start moving out the guys who arent pulling on the rope in the same direction. Whether it's dissatisfaction with their role, like Kakko, or dissatisfaction with management, they need to remove these guys before they can move forward

Big moves require risk.
But the point of a big move is to get better.
The return on Laf is not going to be better.
That’s one of those moves that always blows up.
We have plenty of vet assets that are easily movable. Young assets, especially locked to long term deals, are not smart to move.

He's 23 and they just signed him to a 7 year deal off a breakout season. We shouldnt be cutting off our nose to spite the face with guys under 25 on market valueor lower contracts. The guys you need to trade first are obvious.

He needs to play a more rugged game again,, grind a bit more, engage in the slot, which he has stopped doing regularly. I thought the goal in St Louis that he assisted on was a glimpse of that -- after that blind lob to trailer Schneider that led to a goal against earlier in the game. Last night, he was throwing backhand lobs from downtown again.

We don’t know this. My premise essentially is that he’s being overhyped. If the return is not good then I’m against it too. But I think it should be explored.

I actually like the amateur staff right now. They’ve done a really good job identifying guys off the radar who look like players now where as the last staff would pick guys who are off the radar and proved that they weren’t on anyone’s mind for a reason.

But that was before all the shit that has gone down recently went down. When your current group gives you a reason for a culture shift, dumb shit usually follows.

Me neither, but I view it (maybe incorrectly) as inevitable at this point. I can see a change of scenery being what all parties are looking for at this point.

Drury really needs to explore Trocheck and Kreider trades in-season. Kreider because he's exactly what a desperate contender would overpay for, and he's become redundant. Trocheck for similiar reasons, but also because his NTC is becoming an NMC this summer.

Cuylle and Berard are perfect examples of skilled grit and hard nosed play we need. They also werent top prospects. Why cant Drury turn those 2 vets into 3-4 additional young pieces who fit that mold? I think he can and absolutely should.

Agreed, but I think you have it backwards on Trocheck's clauses. Pretty sure its an NMC NOW becoming a M-NTC July 1st.

We're getting to see what it's like without Panarin around. Sure, it hurts, but it's necessary, imo. The kid needs to rediscover the grinding part of his game. He was billed as an elite grinder type, not a finesse perimeter aesthetic pleaser.

And that's really sad. Even during the late 90's and 00's there was always SOMEONE that I thought was either good, or the future.

Today? Not so much.

Maybe it does involve Brady! I agree it’s unlikely that a worthwhile package is available in return, but it…could be.? GMs mess up. If you hold onto a guy with a high ceiling for too long, you’re the GM messing up.
