If we're hiring a former ranger to fill the President of Hockey Ops position, I really do think Hank would be an at least okay hire. Well respected guy around the league, beloved by the fanbase here, and both personable and fairly insightful as an analyst from what I've seen. Also super competitive which is nice.

And accountable. Henrik could be the guy he was because he spoke to the media every night, win, lose or indifferent. That's lacking on this team.

The players on the roster are angry, players around the league are concerned and now you have former players chiming in. Clearly alot of people feel like Drury screwed the pooch here.

I've heard a lot of "people are not happy!" and not a lot of compelling arguments as to what Drury should have done differently.

To be clear specifically on the Goodrow deal.

I am far from a Drury apologist and have felt the "memo" was a buffoonish move from the start.

Team over the years got comfortable with their employer and their world was rocked when changes were made, that's it.

I find it curious that something that is sent over a network that is (supposedly) used by GMs to communicate with each other suddenly becomes public....and why is Drury's "memo" the first item that does become public?

I know a lot of people think it was the NYR, but considering how Drury likes to keep things close to the vest, I don't find it any more believable that Drury leaked the info than I do that Drury somehow leaked details of the possible deal for Trouba in the off season.

He literally spent half his time discussing the fallout from the trades, Kreider being mentioned, the atmosphere there and players looking over their shoulders. WTF were you listening to?
We generally agree on a lot, but I hear Rupp's sending a mixed message that is talking about overall organizational dysfunction that briefly starts with the trades, then he touched on Kreider's name being out there... However he shifts abruptly & immediately for the majority of this video to shit on the coach for the Kakko situation & for the lack of defensive structure etc. My overall impression was this was giant a shot against the coaching staff for losing the room.

Rupp's saying that Drury's mail to the other GMs that put Kreider on the open for trade list was the bomb that set off this whole thing because it was seen as manipulative. It was the cherry on the cake on top of other questionable moves made by Drury. He then goes on to say that Lavi and the coaches have no handle on the situation and are making bad things worse. With management and coaches lacking in ability the players will not be able to bootstrap themselves out of this situation, especially not with the constant downward flow of BS coming their way.

This is basically what I've been (more or less) manically posting over and over again.

The bottom line is the coaching staff & the team should've gotten together & had their Major League moment. It was up to Lavi to say, "F*** Drury, we're all dead men walking! It's everyone in this locker room against the front office. We can either pout & get slaughtered like lambs or we can man the f*** up & give our best efforts while we go down swinging!"

These pus*ies chose to quit like teenagers. f*** every last one of them.

So heres the solution.

Drury trades kreider, lindgren miller and hopefully zib.

Drury fired lav and his entire staff

Dolan then fires drury and rest of management

So the ahit corr is gone, the useless coach is gone and the useless gm is gone.

But it had to happen in that order so the players dont win and drury doesnt win.

Lav should always lose.

Now we have a good core who is happy the gm is gone, and cant be mad at anyone else i ln the org for past transgressions since those people are also all gone.

New GM has fresh start with coaches , players and salary cap apace

Rupp is coming at it from the player's perspective but what he's saying is the Rangers have no leaders any level of the organization. He is correct. No one has taken charge of the situation at any level. The players wilted, the coach is weak, and the President/GM is silent.
But he's also still pro player as much as he said he's looking at it as an outsider. I know he said they need to be better, but If he was really being impartial, he would've said that player movement & trade rumors are a part of this business, but you need to grow a pair & man the F up.

Maybe Gorton leaked it. Or JD.

So from my understanding in terms of timeline.

Goodrow waivers happened.

Trouba was approached about his NTC .
Trouba didnt move. (for what ever reason)

Was made clear this was his last year.

Team was not happy about how the goodrow deal went down (lack of communication to the player)

Team starts hot.

Cools off.

Drury has a conversation with 3 players about their play and needing to play better or they might be on the block. So they were communicated to.

Play continues to be bad.

Trouba Traded.

Team upset about drury.

Dude did what they wanted, and they're still pissed.

so realistically , can the rangers tank for the first overall? or did Yzerman block the rangers from getting first overall for the next 10 yrs?

We're currently 10th worst in the league. Any team 1 through 11 can get the 1st overall. Our odds aren't great, but the way things are going, that won't be a problem.

I know a dead parrot when I see one and I'm looking at one right now. This team has given up the ghost. The youthful enthusiasm of the "top line" will last maybe a few more games before rigor mortis sets in.
