because you're asking me a question i already answered before you even asked it. i think i called it "an amazing pairing".
Just wanted to make sure - probably over 90% would disagree with your take that a journeyman defenseman who'd often would not find a permanent spot in a line-up of multiple organizations - nevermind on a top pair - would be the piece to put with Fox and expect to be a SC finalist top pairing.

who cares that he was a journeyman? as if it's never happened that a puck moving defenseman was underutilized and underappreciated before (hint hint, the team that knocked us out last year had two of them).

and why couldn't it be a piece in a SC finalist? we were already two games away from that with shitty ass Lindgren playing with Fox. i think it'd be a savvy front office move to sign a play driving defenseman for cheap and pair him with their best defenseman. the best run teams have all done it.

Gus had a hot stretch while fox was injured but was underwhelming otherwise.
I didn't love Gus, but sign me up for an underwhelming D who is somewhat mobile, can pass and won't break the bank. It's not a terrible option.

He can be unloaded at the deadline or in the offseason, or he can be a $2 million third pair option next year. We usually feel the need to trade for a vet D at the deadline anyway.

don’t see any chance that Power would be an option. Anything Buffalo would want, the Rangers don’t want to trade.

You’re not getting Power when the guys going back are the likes of a Kreider, Miller, Kakko

Says who? Besides you. 😉

Thats a team that doesnt attract Vets. Adams admitted so and said they need to establish themselves as a winner to attract FA's.

And, its a team that saw value in Okposo, Skinner, Moulson...

If they arent happy with Power to the point that people in the sport are hearing it, then there is no reason Krieder and Miller at least arent attractive. And if writers are saying GMCD has been getting calls from many teams about Kakko, then he obvuoisly has value too. Theyre calling us, we aint calling them.

Gomez, McD
Bras, Zib
Nash, Spooner Lindy picks

Guys that fans think are washed, arent always seen that way by GMs and Pro scouts.

Engvall is always interesting, but 3 million for 100 years is tough. But he can skate and has been good every year of his career but this one. Which happens to be on a shit islanders team with a psycho for a coach. I'd consider it.

Yeah I agree. There are things Drury has done that I'm not fond of but at the moment, I feel like our drafting looks really strong since he took over. I mean if they ever decided (and were able) to do a full-on rebuild, our pantry isn't stocked with stars but in a few years we'd probably add half a dozen or more players to the roster from the list you assembled.

Othmann would be somewhere in the middle of the lineup with Perreault on the top line, Laba in the middle six, and in your bottom six you'd have Sykora, Chmelar, Roobroeck, and maybe BMB or Lamb. Mancini is already here and I think Fortescue makes it, and Emery should in some capacity, too. Again not a lot of stars or anything but that's good, cheap depth to have. It's hard to find the stars without higher picks.

The players haven't shown up in the NHL yet really but a number of his draft picks have made great progress towards getting that chance and that includes several 4th, 5th, 6th's and even if it was only one or two in a 4 year span that would be okay....several of them though is great. It's also not including guys like Berard, Rempe, Garand and Edstrom other later round picks who just preceded the time that Drury took over. Our scouting has been super and particularly with all the first and second round picks we moved.

The Cuylle pick at the end of the second round....that guy is really looking he could become a top line power forward. Considering we also got Lafreniere, Schneider, Berard, Garand and Rempe in that draft that was just outstanding. A++++++.

Is Matthew Robertson this bad? He can’t sniff a chance here
He based not earned an NHL chance. Mackey is the right choice. Because the organization has not addressed the defensive depth issues over the last 2+ seasons. Hartford was playing Jones on the Right side when he was waiver eligible and now for most of last season and all of this season they have placed Scanlin there.
From a layman’s point of view it’s appears that they don’t have enough management staff to handle a professional sports team’s needs or they’re just bad at their jobs.

Here
Moving Buchnevich was always the right call. We have one Russian who can’t play when it matters, we didn’t need a second.

The return was shit.
I think the only doubt to that was if keeping him and the Mika Buch Kreider line together - would that have been there difference in subsequent playoffs where they got close?

Other than that I agree

Engvall 3 million
Wahlstrom 1 million
Waived
Nelson 5 million if traded
That’s 9 million that Lou could have in cap space in moving Brock Nelson.
Who would he bring in?

I give myself three off-the-wall speculations per season and all of you who do not have me on ignore get to suffer for it.
1st of the season:
Zibanejad to isles for Brock Nelson; adds on both sides.
Mika gets to stay in Manhattan and not uproot his family so maybe he waives(?)
One can dream.👼 @GoAwayPanarin

He was a 3rd pairing d-man. That's perfectly acceptable
IMO we're approaching the discussion from the wrong direction. The team needs a top-pair D to play with Fox. It could be a good fit middle-pair D, fine. But if we're talking depth defenseman - that's putting lipstick on a pig.

What about trying to pry Tony out of the KHL to add a PMD to play on the third pair?
If he's not in tyurma by now - why not...
