I still don't see Colorado as a serious buyer. They're one year too early. They're being gifted a top-five maybe top-three pick. They're a one line team. Why go all in for someone like Hayes now?

They should do something more along the lines of a team like the Devils did with Grabner last season.

A big part of a GMs job is to know when his team is in Win Now mode. Winnipeg, Nashville, San Jose, Boston, Pittsburgh are.

Avs have to figure out their goalie situation. Do they want to try and sign a Bobvrosky? Would Georgiev be a better investment?

Do they bridge Rantaanen (most underrated player in the NHL) or pay him? What is Kerfoot getting?

Why did the Rangers call up Andersson?

Nothing has really changed in the last month.

The Rangers don't have a spot for Andersson. Hayes will still play in every situation. Howden is coming along nicely. Chytil is on the 4th line.

Howden is hurt but it's not considered to be a serious injury. Of course, the Rangers are not always the poster child for the picture of transparency. Shattenkirk had knee surgery last January and the Rangers said Shattenkirk will be back by the end of the regular season. They never said a specific timetable. Sam Rosen said it was a 6-8 week injury. The guy tried to come back in March but they shut him down after he experienced a set back. Shattenkirk didn't start skating again until late June. He has looked awful this season. He appears to have difficulty skating.

Claesson got hurt a few weeks ago and the Rangers said it was day to day. Quinn later said it was more serious than they thought and the player would be out 2-3 weeks. Same thing with McQuaid. He was day to day after getting hurt in Chicago. He might play at the end of the road trip. Quinn then says it's more serious than they thought and the player is week to week.

The news of the Andersson call up was on twitter from Sweden before Quinn and Howden spoke yesterday.

Those dumb ass Rangers beat writers like Carp thought it was news when the Rangers announced the move. It had been out there for at least 6 hours.

Andersson isn't going to play big minutes here with Hayes still on the team and Howden shouldn't out be out long based on what the Rangers said. Gorton said that was the reason why Andersson was sent to the AHL to get more minutes and they didn't have those for him in NY. He also said if the Rangers called up Andersson it would be for good.

Unless the Rangers are working on a deal for Hayes. Remember in January 2011. Rozsival got hurt. I think it was pulled muscle/hip pointer. It wasn't a very serious injury. The Rangers brought up McDonagh to replace him. Trucker was having an OK season in the AHL and everyone here was mad because they didn't bring up Valentenko instead.

A few days later, the Rangers traded Rozsival to the Coyotes for Wolski who had a smaller cap hit. $3.8M vs $5M. The Rangers needed every penny to re-sign their 4 group II's and sign Richards that summer.

McDonagh was here for good. He had a so-so camp. Sauer beat him out for a spot. Trucker could have made the team out of camp but the Rangers wanted him to play some pro hockey in the AHL.

When I saw the tweet from Sweden about Andersson, I thought Howden must be injured pretty bad. Not the case. Going by everything said by Gorton about Andersson going to the AHL.

It's weird they brought him up now. Unless there is a deal being worked on. Elliotte did say teams are trying to acquire Hayes right now and those guys(including Zuccarello)could go at any time.

Yeah I don't get bringing up Andersson unless something is in the works

Unless they're being less than truthful about Howden. Which as mentioned they've had a habit of doing. But if he was seriously injured they wouldn't have let him talk to the media yesterday

This is why Colorado would make a move like that.

The last thing you want to do in this league is spin your wheels.

Hayes will have a pretty huge market. They should be able to do very well there.

Since Lettieri has shown pretty much nothing since having a decent pre-season, I would presume he is going to be dumped into the AHL and McLeod can be the 13th guy for a very long time. Quinn, please stop putting Chytl with McLeod, and certainly don't expose Andersson to it either. I can get down with a 4th line of Andersson and Chytl, but please someone else that is capable of skating and handling a pass needs to be on that line.

howden isnt hurt that bad. it looked bad but hes gonna be fine. dodged a bullet.

rangers should make any deal to get younger, cheaper, faster and more talented. moving lias andersson would seem to be counter to that.

unless its a package with hayes and LA for a big time player coming back ala a true 1st pair cost controlled dman.

i doubt it.

move hayes and zuc and reap the profit from that. keep LA.

promote the tank. i choose to lose for hughes.

You don’t get rewarded now for things you did years ago. At least, you shouldn’t. Results are more important.

Quenneville is a guy who can take a good team and make them great. But is he a guy who can help build a bad team into a good one? Doesn't strike me that way.

Still the wrong move in my opinion. That's not how you treat a coach who won you 3 cups in 6 years.
Coaches are hired to eventually be fired. To Q specifically I don’t think the Blackhawks are saying he’s a bad coach by firing him, I think it’s more ‘we missed the playoffs, we’re off to a bad start, we think we’re better than this, we need to make a change and get a new voice leading the way’
