So, Robertson is the Rangers' fault for not developing into an NHL defenseman? Come on, that's one thing the Rangers are somewhat decent at.

I can toot my own horn too, you know, I said to trade Georgiev for maximum value at his height (the three headed goalie fiasco) instead of the paltry return they got.

Hell, I would've traded for McDonagh THIS year for what peanuts he went for. That dude was TB's MVP in their 2nd cup run.

Garand has been a winner everywhere he's been but he's not ready for the starting role in NYC. Not yet.
1. yes, it was/is their fault on Robertson because it was/is not good enuf an effort to be even half assed
what a waste of an opportunity, even if it doesn't pan out
epic fail to date

and again, you are NOT getting it
it's like a math equation

there was/is a clear obv indication more of Lindgren, the same no adjustments, was gonna wind up with a declining player now close to worthless

it would have been better to sell high, and get the def return of a high pick, and take a chance that ANYBODY -- Robertson, Mackey, Scanlin, Harpur -- ANYBODY could = acceptable stopgap while they apply benefit of acquiring later 1st for Lindgren into something meaningfully useful, like hopefully another Cuylle.

Instead, Rs mgmt does not bend buckle and break and listen to bern, and until recently squandered such picks on failed win now instead of build
and we are still seeing epic stupidity by favoring vets over youth

let me know if/when you get that...

2. I don't toot my horn b'c I like/want to. I don't do it to massage ego.
I do it b'c I have no choice.
So many people say I was wrong about this/that when FACTS are OTHERWISE.

It is something I am required to do, to document my position, so when all is said and done we can see if I or anybody else had the best position.

But feel free to toot.
We may not turn into Chicago, but maybe we can jazz up this joint!

Ready to admit you were wrong about Berard yet? Rempe?
NO
and after I repudiate your bs nonsense, go to the proverbial/figurative middle of the room and hang your head in shame.
Your desire to embarrass me, call me out deserves full comeuppance.
All of us must stand by what we've said, yours truly included
But you attack w/o accuracy, Such false allegations are unpardonable.

Berard --
I am not vs this kid. I want him to succeed. I want to be wrong about what I've said which is true.
All I've said is, let's not get our hopes up prematurely b'c for him to succeed at a shrimp height of 5'9 if that on a good day, means he is gonna have to be another Marty St. Louis
THAT IS WHAT I ACTUALLY SAID

We are not even a handful of games in, he is not battle tested vs rest of the league finding out about him, and we want to ignore the above reality.
I am happy to give hm benefit of the doubt, and we should get max we can out of him in either use or trade, and I hope for his sake he IS another MSL.
But acknowledge, him doing so would be like odds on an inside straight in poker.
Not impossible, doable, but not good

Rempe
I will cede nothing to idiot Rs mgmt who again need to learn with the bern who is often if not usually right here, and pts out we win more w/Rempe than without him. Kid MUST HAVE nhl level experience to move past growing pains
this up and down is not productive if we wanna be ready for POs
and Vesey is NOT the answer

He wasn't a "stopgap". He wasn't an NHL defenseman 2 years ago and he still isn't. Trading Lindgren for a 2nd, or whatever, and making your team worse when it's a contender helps nothing.
again, you don't get it
"a 2nd or whatev" is not an insignificant consideration

As I have explained multiple times
smartest play is to extend the window, not go all in on any given season
that is the rule, with rare possible exception(s) not applying here

Whatev Lindgren gave us was not enough
It is not 111% his fault [exclusively] that we did not lift the cup, but bottom line is it was not enuf
it is not likely a project or a vet like Gust. would have offset that BUT
we would have something of value [a high pick] we could either
a) develop ourselves
or
b) use in package to move up for a better prospect still [KAM, Schneider]

Please stop.
No, please, after you
You first,
you stop

I and apparently a bunch of others insist

I think Igor is probably the most talented goalie in the league, but I simply don’t have any interest in signing a goalie who will be 29 and 9 months when his contract begins to an 8yr 12M contract. Tonight is proof that all you need is a starting goalie. Honestly, you could platoon Quick and Mrazek to a similar record for a combined 5M cap hit. We can’t sign him to the deal he wants. And we can’t let him walk. We have to cash the chip in. His value is immense.

Zibanejad has to go. He is a cancer at this point. His body language looks like the entire team is convincing him not to off himself with his skate blade between each shift. He can’t play through whatever is happening. If it’s not personal stuff and it’s just a decline in ability and accompanying depression due to that, then there is likely nothing to play through anyway. We should do anything in our power to move him. Retain 2M and attach a 1st. Anything is better than 6 more years.

Trouba, Lindgren, Miller… gotta go. Just atrocious. It’s baffling how bad they have been.

At that point, what IS the point of keeping Bread? He’s got one more year left and won’t be brought back. Retain 50% and cash in - I’m sure he’ll waive to go to a contender for 2 playoff runs. After next year he gets to pick his destination again.

No one else is untouchable at that point. If attaching a guy like Chytil or Kakko or Schneider to a Shesty or Kreider or Miller trade brings back a higher end piece, like a young center (or for example, in Buffalo Dahlin, Power, Byram all LHD, if you can shake Power loose by including a player you don’t WANT to move, I say you still do it). Make the best moves you can to come back with an entirely different look next year. This group is cooked and needs to be dismantled. Not retooled. Not adjusted. Not tinkered with. Dismantled. Honestly, dismembered would be preferable.
general strong agree
am open to moving KAM if it makes a dif on a specific deal but don't see moving him in a vacuum is productive

I will post something later on Zib
I think MAYBE, MAYBE we can find a suitable partner if part of a larger deal.
We would have to likely eat half, not just 2m.
That, shoe on the other foot, means acquiring team, if stuck can eat up to 2m on final second retention and can move him
This is presuming Kreid has a heart to heart w/him and he otherwise gets the message, he goes, or he sits.

Also while no one is a sacred cow/untradeable, I would not be inclined to move KK.
LaF for Sanderson, prob yes, but otherwise no on those guys

A team like Colorado or Carolina whose Achilles heal is goaltending would absolutely pay for him, in my personal opinion, but of course I could be wrong. But the inmates have run the asylum for too long here. If Kreider is genuinely trying to talk up some injuries so as to kill a potential trade, put him on LTIR and tell him to go home and rest, he’s not wanted around the team. Let Shesterkin walk. Stop bowing to these prima donnas and divas. It has to stop or it will go on forever and the results will never change.
I think out best offer in totality of circumstances is LA
then want him
they want him hard
the ? is, can we add enuf without gutting ourselves to get them to include Byfield

bold: kudos
this is the listen to bern approach

Or no one re-signs. That’s a very double edged sword.
Not really
if nec, offer more [in zib's case 10 instead of 8.5] BUT have ZERO NMC and sufficiently extensive but not crippling ntcs, on shorter term deals

this would be better than a long term investment and first 2 or so yrs is fine and then this level of crapulence happens

and if player wants to dictate
say forget you
tell em bern says don't let the door hit your ass on the way out if the alternative accommodation is not enuf

if he walks he walks
we can make due w/still talented people who want to be here
while avoiding the nightmare that we are now witnessing coming overnight

There’s no path forward for this organization but to trudge along and hope they come around. I just don’t see a realistic way to fix it in season
Have thoughts on possibly moving Zib
need coffee
later

Was at the game tonight. Kept an eye on Mika and two things were painfully obvious for the vast majority of the game

- He is terrified of getting hit
- He isn’t moving his feet while he is skating.

Maybe you can get him to waive for a no state income tax team (since it’ll basically give him a raise) but to can’t imagine the analytics are any better than the eye test here either. They are not far from going to have to waste a buy out here.

This is not the same player that signed that contract. Like we can act like the deal was a mistake in hindsight, but this is not the same guy
Agree
unfortunately does not look like he is sufficienty concussed we can permanently LTIR him

Not Fox.

Lafreniere I think has 8-10 team NTC when new contract kicks in

Trocheck goes from NMC to partial NTC next season

Correct. But Fox has no NMC/no NTC

Getting moved at the deadline too then. May as well
Today is too early but this unfortunately is another discussion for this board

Fox won't get himself killed like Lindy, but he will not age well in the sense he will only get slower. Now while that applies to everyone, it does not apply to everyone across the board. Many (pushing most?) NHL players can show enuf speed to have proper reflexes as they make a graceful exit in/approaching mid 30s, tho this is getting harder as younger players are ever better, faster athletes

One thing that was evident last night was that Carolina is in better shape than most of our players, they were putting on 3 min shifts attacking us at times and at the end we're all hunched over and they are still zipping around.

I'm not gonna get it, but all I want for Xmas is Frosted Flakes head, moonshotted far from Manhattan. I'm old. I'm in TN. I don't care about my two front teeth.

Tired of spitting in the wind with this fruit cup.

Best hit of his career was on Fil.

you think if these guys already dont respect a seasoned veteran coach with a million wins, they're going to listen to someone that has never coached a game in his life just because he won a Cup 30 years ago as a player? asinine.

(not saying i think that is the problem. the problem is that the roster isnt good enough.)
The only guy who could really light a fire under these teams ass would be torts.

A lot of this is on the players, but this is partially on the coaching staff and management too. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. At this point, we know the defensive pairings of Lindgren-Fox, Miller-Trouba, and Lindgren-Trouba just don’t work. The problem is that you can’t put together the top 2 pairs with both Lindgren and Trouba in it. It’s just not possible. Lindgren either needs to move to the bottom pair, be benched, or get traded. He’s a 6/7 D at this point. Go back to something like the d pairings that were running well when he was out

Miller-Fox
Schneider-Trouba
Jones-Ruhwedel/Lindgren

I don't know what you do, but you have to do something. Whether its a big line shakeup, a trade, scratch Zib, something.

But I am almost certain what will happen..... We don't make any changes, go 6-1 in our next 7 against 6/7 non playoff teams. And then the real panic will ensue December 14th when we have LA at home, then hit the road vs St Louis, Dallas, Nashville. Then Carolina, Tampa, Florida. Probably the toughest stretch of the season. And this team will get run out of the building most nights.

The defense needs to be rebuilt. and we need a 1C
Both Eichel and McDavid are UFAs in the summer of 26. Coincidentally, Panarin is a UFA the same year, and with the cap rising significantly over the next 2 years, we will have plenty of money.

Signing one of them would help significantly. The problem will be Mika. We'll have to get creative to move him.

They've won because they were (and are) a good and very talented team. They've ultimately not gotten it done in the playoffs because their leaders wilt when adversity hits. Every playoff series we've lost with this core was one that we had a series lead.

We have 3-4 legitimately bad and overpaid players, you'll find no argument from me there. the sooner Trouba and Lindgren are gone and Mika is demoted, the quicker we can get back to being a Cup contender. Drury needs to make that happen in-season or it's going to be someone else's job this summer. It's not even Thanksgiving yet.

Meeka sleeping in today
Moving Zibs, Trouba, and Lindy is possible. The question is who do you replace them with that makes the team significantly better?

Why PGT is closed at 8 am the day after? Is this a new thing here?

Last night was a small step in the right direction for the Rangers.

Re D - I’m now serious: Schneider - Fox, Jones - Trouba, Miller - Lindgren. Laviolette seems to only be able choosing between flipping Lindgren and Miller but he needs to get more creative.

People talking 2nd rebuild when there are obvious improvements to made to the defense need to seek help. Why would you want to go through that again?

They need to remove Lindgren in a trade or scratch first and foremost. Im guessing Drury is giving them this Thanksgiving week to turn it around? Fine by me but he should be working the phones to add a competent defenseman. Clearly they don’t trust Chud Ruhwedel or Mancini. It’s a long-term need regardless because Miller sucks and shouldn’t make a cent more than the Brady Skjei extension years ago. I’d be looking to deal him before the league catches on to his apathy,

Again? Did we go through one that I missed?

We sent out a letter in February of 2018 stating that we would be rebuilding, but the following summer we signed Panarin and traded for Trouba.

Now, I'm not saying we need to go full scorched earth, but dumping some older, more expensive players and getting back younger, cheaper players wouldn't be amiss.

If we could find a way to move Mika, even if we can't readily replace him, would you be in favor of it? Would you be in favor of trading Panarin if it meant getting back younger players who can contribute?

@bernmeister Berard is never going to turn into MSL because that's not his game. If he turns into an effective middle 6 forward that skates well, is a pain to play against and provides some secondary scoring that's a big win. Not sure why he comes up and has early success means "he's not battle tested" in your eyes while Robertson never earned a chance with his awful AHL play means the Rangers screwed him. You are a walking contradiction with a need to always be right.

The Rangers are like 1-3 this season with Rempe in the lineup this year so you are objectively wrong on that too.

Not worth it, no thanks
don't need a my way or the highway authoritarian bully
just like we don't need a coddler

and besides, on the Xs and Os hockey side of it
a 6 goalies system approach is beyond stupid = excessive wear + tear + injury

we can muddle thru w/Lav for time being, cut drek, see what happens

btw, reminder
I wanted Knoblach, since before
his record w/Oilers suggests I was --- what's the opposite of wrong?

Drury knows if the wheels come off like that this season it's his head on the block. He will have to act before that to save his neck. Obviously the other GMs are bringing out the sharp set of knives in anticipation. Drury comes off as much more impulsive than a calculated grey eminence.

I was replying to a post saying they need another Letter. You could fix this team fairly easily by adding 1 or 2 physical defenseman. Guys who won’t fall down when they attempt to hit people.

Also not to defend the team too much but our 2 best forwards have been out. I was encouraged by yesterday’s game. I bet they win against Philly and the Habs.

The short term (rest of season and this summer) plan needs to be a complete overhaul of the defense personnel. The long-term plan needs to be to find a way to remove Mika in time for Eichel’s free agency. The Rangers are 100% going to still make the playoffs this year.

We need a full rebuild so we can build a team that is not reliant in an emo goaltender that goes 20 games a season looking like Georgiev. Yesterday's wraparound goal was my Seattle pick 6 Daniel Jones moment. The team played well enough to win and the guy who thinks he's the best player on the team just basically said "f*** this team" and single handedly lost the fragile team the game. Absolutely unforgivable considering how badly the team needed the game and all things considered how hard everyone played. I don't know how he can look his teammates in the eyes after that.
