Top Shelf hockey was just implying that Kreiders interview was very odd. He thinks that it seemed like Kreider was going out of his way to tell other teams that he was damaged goods.

Interesting.
Makes you wonder if Zibanejad has something spinal or otherwise serious going on (likely). In which case we are sort of just f***ed until he decides to retire (unlikely) or his contract is up (2030)

Post it please. Why mention it without a link?

I think Igor is probably the most talented goalie in the league, but I simply don’t have any interest in signing a goalie who will be 29 and 9 months when his contract begins to an 8yr 12M contract. Tonight is proof that all you need is a starting goalie. Honestly, you could platoon Quick and Mrazek to a similar record for a combined 5M cap hit. We can’t sign him to the deal he wants. And we can’t let him walk. We have to cash the chip in. His value is immense.

Zibanejad has to go. He is a cancer at this point. His body language looks like the entire team is convincing him not to off himself with his skate blade between each shift. He can’t play through whatever is happening. If it’s not personal stuff and it’s just a decline in ability and accompanying depression due to that, then there is likely nothing to play through anyway. We should do anything in our power to move him. Retain 2M and attach a 1st. Anything is better than 6 more years.

Trouba, Lindgren, Miller… gotta go. Just atrocious. It’s baffling how bad they have been.

At that point, what IS the point of keeping Bread? He’s got one more year left and won’t be brought back. Retain 50% and cash in - I’m sure he’ll waive to go to a contender for 2 playoff runs. After next year he gets to pick his destination again.

No one else is untouchable at that point. If attaching a guy like Chytil or Kakko or Schneider to a Shesty or Kreider or Miller trade brings back a higher end piece, like a young center (or for example, in Buffalo Dahlin, Power, Byram all LHD, if you can shake Power loose by including a player you don’t WANT to move, I say you still do it). Make the best moves you can to come back with an entirely different look next year. This group is cooked and needs to be dismantled. Not retooled. Not adjusted. Not tinkered with. Dismantled. Honestly, dismembered would be preferable.

Is having no backbone considered spinal?

I think it's pretty obvious that's what is going on. It's right out of the trouba playbook. Things are going to get ugly around here bc Drury isn't use to not getting his way and his leadership core is openly challenging him publicly and winning against him over the past 6 months

It’s almost Messier time me thinks. Not saying I love it but if the players aren’t responding to Drury, Dolan is going to bring in someone who isn’t taking no for an answer.

Would disagree with this to be honest. His value is highest to the Rangers. No other team in the league is trading a boatload for a guy who is free to walk out the door in 6 months. No other team in the league is trading a boatload for a guy who wants as much as he does.

If the team was serious about moving him it should have happened last year

He’s got the team over a barrel quite frankly, and the only way it ends is with Drury giving him what he wants.

100% agree.

Drury needs to stop taking spitballs to the back of the head.

A team like Colorado or Carolina whose Achilles heal is goaltending would absolutely pay for him, in my personal opinion, but of course I could be wrong. But the inmates have run the asylum for too long here. If Kreider is genuinely trying to talk up some injuries so as to kill a potential trade, put him on LTIR and tell him to go home and rest, he’s not wanted around the team. Let Shesterkin walk. Stop bowing to these prima donnas and divas. It has to stop or it will go on forever and the results will never change.

Ok serious question.
You think messier will bully a player into waiving his nmc?
Yeah Dolan would go broke from the lawsuit by the PA.
And the league would fine the hell out of us. As in draft picks.

Second question.
What history of roster building has messier had that implies he’d be anywhere near successful? He’s been offered opportunities to work within the org, but he doesn’t want to be a gm in hfd, or an assistant coach.
He wants to be handed the keys.

I appreciate messier for 94. The list of former players who become GMs and are successful is significantly smaller than the list of former players who destroy a franchise.
Yzerman is on how many years of his plan?
Guerin is the only one who looks mildly competent, and the book isn’t quite done on Drury.

I want no part of a guy who refuses to work his way up and wants to coast on his former glory.

Drury can blame himself for giving out NMCs like candy, extending vets far too long or not long enough, and not being willing to walk away when he didn’t get terms that were good for the team because he was under the delusion that we couldn’t live without certain players.

After he traded the first guy who wouldn’t be reasonable with their contract demands the rest would fall in line.

There’s gotta be a team out there that Mika would feel more comfortable on. Maybe Chicago where he can play second fiddle to Bedard on a team that’s not expected to do much and the Rangers take back a bad contract like Bertuzzi.

Colorado has been looking for a 2C for years. They have very strong forechecking wingers. I’d retain 2M on Z, down to 6.5M and take back whatever they’d send us. Wood, Ross, whatever. Z and Landeskog are childhood besties and Landeskog is close to returning. That’s the only team I can realistically see him waiving for, and there is a fit, but how Colorado makes the cap work I don’t know. They have some guys who have decent cap hits that could be moved; Ross and Wood, Manson, Girard, etc.

I don’t think Colorado is dumb enough to make a deal for Zibanejad and they already have a 2c in Mittelstadt.

Mitts has been great in Colorado but he’s 39% in the circle and teams love to over value playoff experience and shit. I have a hard time believing anyone who watches can’t see how cooked Mika is, but we see GM’s make dumb trades for cooked players because of the name on the back of the jersey all the time… so it’s a .01% hope I hold onto that someone will be willing to take a flyer on him.
