Agreed, Drury took a tough situation and made it 10 times worse. Trouba not even meeting the media after the last game isn't good.

What did Drury do? If he wants to trade players he has to email the league. Do you think he's going to call 31 GMs individually saying the same thing to each of them? I've seen people get mad before when GMs make a trade and the response is like "That's ALL they could get for him" and then other GMs say they would have offered more but the original team never called him. Didn't think happen with Chychrun I think? Better he sends an email to everyone than get pigeonholed into dealing with a couple of teams.

If Drury or Lavy thought Trouba was a bad leader and bad in room they could remove the C from him at anytime yet they haven't done so.

I'm referring more to this summers antics.

Would be very disappointed if this was all intended as a bluff. I don’t think it is since Brooks has mentioned time and time again that this team was not supposed to come back in the same fashion, so I think he is trying to make deals.

It would be a bad look if Drury thought this teams issue was a lack of motivation and not a lack of being good enough.

The only thing that will bring back a worthwhile piece for the future is Kreider (of the rumored).

I wouldn't have said this a month ago, but trading Igor for a massive haul accomplishes the end of this eras Rangers and would return meaningful pieces. They don't survive without him.

It would allow for Drury to rebrand this team. I don't think there is a full rebuild incoming. There are still many promising young players on the roster.

What does need to be prioritized is a young center with potential to acquire. I'm not saying EJ Emery was a bad pick, but RHD wasn't high up the list of positions this pool needed with Fox locked in, Schneider still being young, and Mancini showing promise.
Mancini is showing promise, but he's not a full time NHLer yet, and was even less on the radar at the time we picked Emery. We knew Trouba was on his way out and we had zero RHD in the system other than Mancini.

We have some center prospects. None are surefire top 6 guys, but we have Zib and Trocheck locked in for many years to come, and Chytil for a couple more years as well, health notwithstanding.

Our defense is kind of a mess. Lindgren will be gone in addition to Trouba, and Miller hasn't progressed like we expected. Schneider has been okay, but he's not where we hoped either. The only legitimate defensive prospects we have are Mancini, Fortescue and Emery. Defense overall was very much a need, and I'd argue that it's still a need, though we're likely going to have to trade for or sign guys to fill those spots in the short term.

A lot may change between now and the draft, so we'll have to wait and see how things shake out.

Mercogliano with another word salad article with no insight whatsoever. Our beat writers are such bootlickers. Everyone rags on Larry but at least he knows what he’s talking about and speaks his mind. Vince, mollie and the rest all siding with the players to stay in the good graces. Sad what has happened to sports media.

“This has a chance to fracture the locker room” that’s the point numbskull, the locker room is complacent with weak leaders. Vince is in it every day but can’t see it like the fans do I guess.
Larry Brooks is the goat. All Mollie & Vince do is post line combos during practise

I'd be shocked if Miller and Schneider don't rebound or improve after the air clears and the staff tell them it's now their turn to be leaders.

I dont get why Lav hasnt scratched players first to get their attention like normal teams do.

We went from koombayah to abandoned ship quicker than the titanic.

Care to give a list of top six players this year that have been healthy scratched for non-disciplinary reasons that don't play for the Flyers? Just so we can see what normal teams do.

I'm not so sure. When Lavi came in, all the talk was about the "left-wing lock" system he was going to employ, and that somehow morphed into sometimes playing a 1-3-1. Maybe I don't have the requisite understanding to recognize it, but when I watch this team, I don't see any semblance of a defensive system.

I don't think Miller and Schneider are going to take steps forward absent a clear defensive structure.

Here
eye test concurs
Cuylle + KK
are terrif w/Chytil or even Brodz !!
and Cuylle + KK look like w/correct W, that can be a thing

but MZ is really shot

have to see if we have any experts who can determine his concussion history is catching/has caught up, and if yes, can that do anything for us? LTIR?
Cuylle and Kakko have been very strong together. May be the strongest forward duo thus far, especially defensively despite all the offense they are contributing.

The fact they would break that up AND the Panarin line earlier in the season to try and get Mika going tells you all you need to know about how concerned they are about his game - and how important his role is on this club.

HOWEVER - At this point you are doing the team a massive disservice moving lines around and breaking up successful duos to accommodate him. You've tried the personnel thing and it hasn't worked. We are 20 games in.

His minutes need to be limited. He needs to be moved to PP2 for Laf. Thats the next thing that has to happen to "help him" break out of whatever funk they think hes in (its not a funk). I dont care if he complained or will complain about ice time. Tough shit.

They dont owe him anything. He makes a damn good salary. Enough catering to this guy. If he doesnt like it, well - theres the door if you want to use it.

If you are perfectly OK with publicly announcing to the other 31 teams that you are putting a possible-retired-number-level-all-time-homegrown-drafted Ranger in Kreider on the block - whether its a scare tactic/message to the team or not - then you should be just fine with moving Mika down to 3C at the expense of what.........

Giving 3 talented younger players larger roles they will likely take advantage of???

At this point it doesnt matter if its injury related or not. Its about execution on the ice.

I get that. It's as much getting responsible forwards to play responsibly two-way again. The defense has been left in a lurch both defending and moving the puck.

IMO this is the big indicator of something wrong with this team mix. They don't want to play a system at all, even one that got them the Presidents trophy last year. Either they don't give a f*** about what the coach is trying to get them to do or they're so disorganized they can't figure out how to do something tehy did all of last year

For those of you that have seen 22 Jump Street, this is the Kreider + Zib bromance personified. Right down to the long haired pretty boy and the physical specimen counterpart.

Minus what is said in the room, or on the ice because we as fans will never really know that. From what is done on the ice.

I could see Schneider developing into one.

I haven't seen 1 single leadership quality with Miller.
