There’s a leak in the front office. No way does Drury “want this to be known” and then call a meeting with the leadership group a day later to repair the damage.
Drury absolutely wanted it know, because he called the other GMs that these players are available. And when you do that, you know it's getting out at some point from the other organizations.

Unless you are Lou, who would always tell the other GMs that if something leaks about his dealing he will never ever deal with that person again.

This guy lost me when he said that Chytil hasn't lived up to his potential. You want to talk about his injuries? Fine. But saying he hasn't lived up to his potential tells me this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

What kind of return are you looking for? :sarcasm:
I stopped watching when I realized I wasn't going to learn anything from the video and all he did was repeat 20 pages of this thread.

Maybe he did do things discretely at first. We don't know. It's all speculation until Drury tells his story, if ever. He didn't send a league-wide memo on Trouba in the summer, attempted a trade, and it blew up just the same. Waived Goodrow and now the board is speculating in hindsight that it fractured the room. Things go scorched earth real fast these days, with everyone plugged in and tuned in.

And while it sucks for us right now, this kind of stuff happens to every organization. The Leafs have dealt with speculation around their core for years, and with a media frenzy that is multiple times more intense than here.
I just don’t think this is going to get the team going. Hasn’t helped the Leafs either. Brooks mentioned something tangible happened the second week of camp and it threw the team off track. No idea what that is but I also think there has to be something, how can so many guys just completely shit the bed after last year. Yes they had problems 5x5 and their transition sucked but this is something else. There’s like a black cloud hanging over this team. The answers for the most part are in that room. Are they one of the faves to win the cup with this roster? Probably not. But they’re too talented individually to be producing whatever the hell this is at the moment.

The only thing that will bring back a worthwhile piece for the future is Kreider (of the rumored).

I wouldn't have said this a month ago, but trading Igor for a massive haul accomplishes the end of this eras Rangers and would return meaningful pieces. They don't survive without him.

It would allow for Drury to rebrand this team. I don't think there is a full rebuild incoming. There are still many promising young players on the roster.

What does need to be prioritized is a young center with potential to acquire. I'm not saying EJ Emery was a bad pick, but RHD wasn't high up the list of positions this pool needed with Fox locked in, Schneider still being young, and Mancini showing promise.
bold = irrelvant
it is likely that even if Garand does not approach, let alone = Shesty ON DAY ONE
he is still likely to be good/+ at min going forward

So, we should move Shesty for a top return now and use whatever young help that adds

peeps should have listened to bern way back when and not pissed away draft picks on so many rentals, we would have more youth now

no, imo you completely can
called addition by subtraction
we can loser with those loser vets
or we can try for better with youth willing to put out

no way?
TOTALLY WAY
No, it's called most teams need subtraction to make trades. If you're trading all those players, you're 99% likely to get a player back that's going to be in your lineup. You can argue if that player is better or not better when that happened, but you're probably not getting draft picks and prospects for everybody while taking on no additional salary.

I can’t stand Trouba and want him gone yesterday. But you’re the captain and your GM has tried to move you twice since the summer. What kind of a spot are you putting the player in? How can you expect him to lead your team? GMA are supposed to think five steps ahead. Drudy isn’t and it shows

Which is also why I don't think his reported meeting with those guys yesterday was not a cuddle makeup session. My guess is he confirmed that he is trying to move any or all of them and told them in the meantime to remain professional and stick it out as best as you can.

I don't think this is entirely just a bluff. Maybe it is with Kreider, but this would be the second time they actively shopped Trouba.

I think the conversion was probably "look, business is business, but you guys are on the Rangers right now, let's be professionals and focus on hockey."

Would Dallas trade Mavrik Bourque? Matt Dumba appears to be a poor signing for them. 2 years left (including this one) @ $3.5m.

Kreider to Dallas for Dumba + Bourque + picks
The Rangers get a good, young center and some picks and back-fill with a veteran RD for...

Trenin has been a poor signing for Minnesota. 4 years @ $3.5m and he has 1 point. Bogosian has 2 years @ $1.25m. He'd be a completely fine 7D.

Trouba @ $4m for Trenin @ $1.75m + Bogosian + picks

I would hope/anticipate that the picks coming back would be high. 1st from Dallas, maybe a 1st from Minnesota as well.

Panarin-Trochek-Lafreniere
Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko
Smith-Zibanejad-Bourque
Edstrom-Carrick-Vesey
Trenin

Miller-Fox
Jones-Schneider
Lindgren-Dumba
Bogosian

Next steps would be to find a home for Smith and Lindgren

Probably not, but that’s who I’d want.

Also I’d hang on to Smith, we need wingers now that Kakko is a Center, and I’d like to see more of him free from the gruesome twosome

how much would Pettersson cost from Pittsburgh?

I'm more concerned with his actual next contract cost than the asset cost to acquire. He's good, but not $5m+ per year good

Probably not, but that’s who I’d want.

I'm not opposed to hanging on to Smith until the deadline honestly. He's versatile in that he can play both wings and see if someone pushes.

Isn’t that something that could easily be communicated by Laviolette? Why say anything at that point? I’m not saying you’re wrong, you’re probably right, but Jesus I dont see how that accomplishes anything, probably makes things worse. Yup, trying to trade you guys but keep your chins up and try extra hard tonight. Big game and we’re trying to make the playoffs even though you guys probably won’t be here

Agreed, Drury took a tough situation and made it 10 times worse. Trouba not even meeting the media after the last game isn't good.

I don't know. He probably wouldn't have met with them if the question to Trouba hadn't come up from Vince (?). "Has he spoken to you yet?"

Other than the tongue in cheek lead-in, I should have placed a disclaimer below the video.
Creator seems lost.
Going back to put it there.

the easiest and most obvious move is to trade Lindgren.

It makes us better and it can shake up the room ( for better or worse... can it get worse? )
As much as Lindgren is addition by subtraction, somebody would have to be coming back on the defense corps.

Mancini is not an NHL player right now. Neither is Lindgren but we would be defeating the purpose.
