It’ll be hilarious if the shakeup was this leaking to the media to get the players on their toes. And nothing else happens.

Miller seems like a dark horse here as well, especially considering what else what posted here by the insiders

He's just a guy who hit 31 goals in his last ELC year, got extended because thats how you get fuzzy headlines, and went back to being just a guy. He's... rangy? Like long in a good way. But he doesn't have a great NHL skill.

A little like a western canadian version of like Derick Brassard with more Good Ol' Canadian Boy qualities and less puck skills.
That's a bad thing. I'm not interested in any version of Derick Brassard that's not French-Canadian.

Could be. I was thinking Zibanejad would probably be right there at the top of the list too if it weren't for his NMC. But there had to be something brewing for a while behind closed doors. We see the culture issue. I'm sure management is not blind to it either. Otherwise, we don't go from 0 to 60 like this, skipping benchings and reduced minutes altogether. And it's Trouba and Kreider, the captain and the de facto captain of the group. But it's odd. I don't question Trouba's compete level. He threw his helmet and all. He cares, I genuinely believe that. His ability can't cash what he wants to do.
compete level changed after this past offseason..you can tell by his locker room interviews

Looking at Buffalo's org chart, this is what happens when you draft infinity skills guys up front and too many of them make the NHL roster.

Jason Zucker is washed but because he does NHL calibre non glamorous stuff he's their 1st line LW.

Just saw the tweets from Friedman, Kaplan, and Vince.

No doubt this is an intentional leak from the GM. He's trying to light a fire underneath these guys. A warning shot for this upcoming summer unless they turn it around and win the Cup.

I know he's 34, but Kreider needs to get an absolute haul if he's dealt. No mention of Zibanejad and Lindgren is a bit concerning.

Well, they practically negotiated a blood oath into Zibanejad's contract. People warned them not to do that.

If Drury doesnt think this core can win a cup(he's correct) his #1 priority should be offloading Mika in any way possible before Eichel hits the free agent market. if moving Kreider helps make that a reality sooner, its a necessary evil.

I believe there is some kind of chronological order scenario here. If this happens, then this and this. If #1 does not happen it will all be a dud. We will see. Soon

How I would love to build a time machine, let Mika walk, and get Eichel the first time he was available.

I have no idea. But he's from the area, I'm sure that has to be at least a bit appealing. How many players get the opportunity to go play for their hometown team? But he's a odd guy, maybe he doesn't want the distraction that comes with that.
I found your comment that he would waive to go to Boston a bit curious -- ergo my response.

I wonder if, as part of some deal, we bring in a goalie with the idea of either pressuring Igor to take less or outright replacing him. Maybe we move Igor in a separate deal.

Buffalo has UPL locked up for a few more years and Devon Levi has yet to break through at the NHL level, but his AHL numbers have been good.

If Drury really wants to shake things up, the opportunity to do so is there.

Like, Peyton Krebs, God bless him, is on year 3? 4? Of faking it as a bottom six agitator center when he's just a sweet kid who should get putting up soft points on a 2nd line somewhere. Disaster.

Hindsight is 20/20. No one knew if Eichel's neck was going to keep his head attached to his body after his surgery.

I would rather us have kept Kakko, Othmann, and our 1st, at least as well.

Keeping Zibanejad was the right move at the time given the hindsight, but signing him to that contract with the NMC was the death knell.

I'm reading that as kreider goes, then lindgren and trouba go, then Z goes.

I believe you, but I've been around long enough to know #1 usually doesn't happen. We will see.

NMC's can be waived by the player.

Want to send a message? Scratch him or put him on the 4th line until he earns the ice time back.
It's not just the NMC. His contract is loaded with signing bonuses, such that buying him out provides very little savings.
