You just want to be a naysayer & that's fine, but a hockey trade is also possible. All of this is ignoring the fact that my original point was that Lindgren can be dumped today....even if it's only for a mid round draft pick, the team would be way better off for it long term.
I'm not sure Mancini doesn't need to go up and down. I think he's going to be an NHL guy, but I'm not certain he's an every day NHL guy this year.

He might still end up being better than lindgren, but I dont know if thats the best thing for his long term development.

I dont want another Howden where a guy gets in, has tools, but is never sent down because he's better than the replacement options.

ive decided individual analytics for hockey are trash and to be taken with a grain of salt. so much of what happens on the ice is out of the players control. every player on a good teams analytics will be inflated, and the same for players on bad teams.

this is why players leave the rangers and magically look better analytically.

Theres some of that.

The rangers do play a game that isn't usually statistically appealing. Its why alot of teams have their own internal metrics that arent the same thing's we look at.

The rangers are currently a team that plays to its strengths, the problem is that last years strength's arent the same as this years.

We're not drawing enough Powerplays. Our cross seam passes aren't being completed at a high enough clip.

It’s over. There isn’t a single likeable player on this team. Stepan was a home grown player. We had duby, we had callahan. We had Henrik. Staal and Girardi were great Rangers. Home grown. MSL was cool. Hagelin. We had Kravstov, Rempe. Now this team is just disgusting from a likeability pov. There isn’t a single roster player who i’d cry for seeing them lift the cup or a single player whose career i’d be thrilled to watch blossom like a protagonist in a story. This is an all time zero charisma, zero identity, zero appeal team that plays like lazy entitled sacks of crap. Leave the on ice hockey aside, i just don’t care for this ensemble of players on a personal level. This has the performance and appeal of a PT Cruiser. Anyone who willingly goes for it is an idiot.

It hurts when buds ripen and burst. As is it sad to see once radiant leaves wither away and fall haplessly to the ground. This was always going to happen when the old guard was going to be replaced by the new one. The trick was to hope that these 2 trajectories could somehow meet when the inevitable transition takes place. This is the year. Question is if there is too much imbalance on the scale (ie old timers demise) to be offset by the younger players still rising trajectory. WE will see. Never, ever judge a team by their performance in November, although it has been downright painful to watch aside from the first 5 games or so against mediocre opposition. The fragrance emitting from the room is not a pleasant smell. Capitano Picasso does not care any more - feels offended I presume... I think one or two moves might be made as a wakeup call. This week

Or for guys who wanna win a cup instead of running a 8.5 mill 3rd line center out every night. Best way to get fired is to not win, tell me you think they'll win with Mika taking 8.5 mill and playing the way he has for the last year. Taking ice time away from him should have happened a long time ago, taking pp1 away from him is an easy one. Tell me why doing any of the things I was talking about isn't earned? He's not a top 6 center who is key to the pp anymore. I'm not sure why they continue to cater to him like he deserves all this stuff, no wonder he likes it in ny, they bend over backwards to give him whatever he wants.
I couldnt agree more.

There are too many guys as you describe and they are a cancer to the team- Miller, Zbad, Fox, kakko, Kreids

Brady Tkachuk if anyone. And I'd put the odds of Pizza Man making a deal like that in-season at less than 1%.

Do you have a specific example of such a player?

That's exactly why we should try to get him imo. He is a fantastic buy low candidate. He's a 23 year old with multiple 60+ seasons under his belt, as recently as the start of last season the price would be an arm & a leg. Then he was injured most of last year and is also on a shit team, there are many reasons to believe he can turn it around. We desperately need a center, with Zibanejad being absolute shit, Trocheck regressing to what makes it look like the playoffs were the outlier and this is what he is, and Chytil being one bad hit away from retirement. Zegras is a hometown kid who wants to play here, look at how rejuvenated Quick became after coming here.

Also I think people just see the flashy dekes and draw the wrong conclusion about him. Not saying he's anything special defensively but I do think he has a competitive fire to him. You'll see him getting into scrum after whistles, speaking his mind in interviews. He really has a different attitude than the meek guys we have in Zibanejad & co. He hates losing and has an attitude. Also at the end of the day sports are entertainment, he would at least be enjoyable to watch. Our team is horrid to watch. So often I watch our team and feel like we're playing in a totally different era than the rest of the league, Zegras is the quintessential modern day skilled hockey player
Sorry -- pass

The only way I'd be interested in Zegras (who I do believe is a competitor and would improve under a more stable organization in his home state like the Rangers), is if it was in a trade that moved Mika out. Doesnt seem likely.

The only trades that help this team right now are trades for defenseman.

I’m intrigued by Zegras for a couple reasons:

1) he’s only 23 and we’re buying low
2) we can’t trust Chytil to stay healthy
3) he plays both wing and center so he could play wing when Chytil is healthy and center when Chytil is out

I agree that Zegras has his issues, but he’s still just 23 and he’s only played on terrible teams. I think anytime you can get a young center that’s scored above 2.0 pp60 at 5v5 as a 20 and 21 year old, it’s a good idea.

Also, the Ducks board likes him and doesn’t want to trade him. That tells you there’s a good player there.

To each their own but no idea how you can not like Laf, Chytil, and Cuylle.

I like all the young players and want to see them in better positions to excel. Miller, Fox and Laf are too close to the vets that they have picked up their lazy tendencies. But that's what happens when you foster an organizational culture that doesnt make lineup decisions based on merit.

I want to point out the same people complaining about Lafreniere's defense are the people that complained we don't develop young players' offense and mocked Quinn for teaching them to play "the right way".
