wow this post - so fun, so smug! let me just look for the faintest sense of subjectivity, of doubt in your own analysis, of awareness that the "drum" you do stridently beat for Kakko and Cuylle last year was entirely out of rhythm as far as using current performance to gauge a players ability to contribute positively in the future. oh, there's nothing. okay.

Cuylle is 22 and just started his second season. You're being intentionally dishonest by implying his results couldn't suddenly change.

And his analytics were good last year! Just not all-NHL like they are so far this year.

Kakko is pretty much in line this year with what he's always been, and people were complaining about him before he had 4 points in 4 games recently. You get led through the nose by a few assists and then call me smug when I don't trust your assessment.

Also - The likely hood that someone leaked Kreider's name as a way to tell him to get his shit together is pretty high IMO.
I think his name is being put out there for that reason and to also get the phone calls rolling in to Drury. Nobody around the league is interested if it's just Trouba or Lindgren being shopped.

I don't think Kreider is going anywhere. I hope not.

I think a lot of teams would be interested in Lindgren. Terrible dmen get traded for mid round picks at the deadline every year.

He's not wrong. He way overuses that horrible slapper on the powerplay, but Trouba has driven 5v5 offense literally every minute he's played in the NHL that isn't with P'Ossession Killer.

You flipped on Miller quicker than a 10 cent hooker gets down. You as recently as like 10 games ago were singing the praises of the Miller-Fox pairing.

what "people complain about" is not an intellectually honest metric for a players performance.

i wasn't implying Cuylles results couldn't change... you were. all through this spring summer. you also insisted Kakko couldn't score.

Here's what i said, then and now: young players with talent should be treated with patience, and scoring results are chaotic.

lol at "a couple of assists." He's playing well, the line is playing well, and pucks are going in. They'll stop at some point, but the process is still good. you're the one who was insisting there's some mumbo jumbo preventing him from being on the ice for GF.

and i didn't call you smug when you didn't trust my assessment. i called you smug when you were being incredibly smug.

If the organization can trade Leetch, Jean Ratelle, and Brad Park, then they can trade Kreider.
They shouldn't have traded any of those guys either.

Even not counting his status as a borderline franchise legend, Kreider is one of the few veteran players on this team outperforming his caphit. He's a great special teams player both ways, he's consistently been a playoff performer and a heartbeat of the team.

Short of a massive windfall of a trade that you can't say no to, he'd be one of the last guys I'd be looking to move.

Drury has work to do, but after seeing their performance through the first 2 months and responding by calling out your 2 most prominent vets and calling up 2 young guys to hopefully help jumpstart them is a good sign. Shows me he has his finger on the pulse of the issue..

Well, to be fair, that's around the time just about everyone involved in the NHL stopped paying attention in school.
If anyone thinks those Major Junior kids are getting a world class education on charter busses to Kootenay and Moose Jaw they are sorely mistaken.

not even sure what Kreider gets you at this point.

And trading Trouba now feels like a bomb waiting to go off. If you’re gonna trade him why didn’t you just grit your teeth and do it during the summer. Doing it now seems way more disruptive

If you're going to have a discussion about how team play affects individual analytics, and you're not using team-relative analytics which have been out since 2008, it's not a serious discussion. I'm not required to pretend every opinion is serious. Do better work. I don't what to tell you.

My comment to @SnowblindNYR was simply to point out that Miller has been picked on a lot less. No, it's not a metric for performance, but if you think the board constantly throwing a guy under the bus (Lindgren) versus talking about how a guy still has potential (Miller) doesn't influence perception, again, I don't know what to tell you.

And yeah, I'm going to start the narrative that it's "those three" and "those two" because that's what I think people need to hear and I have the data to back it up.

Ok this is kind of major.

It bothers me than Ryan Lindgren isn't front and center here though. I think it may be time to move Kreider if for no other reason he deserves it (I have no doubt that he'll automatically go back to being awesome the second he's moved) and that the team just needs a change but what the f*** is the appeal of #55? He sucks at everything.
Why wouldn't Lindgren be front and center here? I'm sure he is. Kreider and Trouba are bigger names and tweets are meant to grab eyeballs.

okay now write it again and take responsibility for your past viewpoints, acknowledge how current data proves that your hypotheses at that point were incorrect, and conclude that your approach to data analysis should probably fundamentally change in light of this new data.

here's my suggestion, opinions 201: if you're so convinced that Miller sucks, and that the data supports that, research and make the counterargument. Educate yourself beyond what you already believe, and challenge your own assumptions.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

But Lindgren hasn't been good with him and yet you seem to be harder on Miller all of a sudden.
I started getting tired of MIller last year.

You can't put too much stock into "how do the existing pieces work best together?" versus what I think about those pieces as individuals.

Miller-Fox is a good pair. Always has been, still is. It's also true that Miller can't handle the limited minutes he's out there without Fox.

I feel like, sometimes, you try to take nuanced situations and make them one thing or another. I can like a pair and dislike a player on it.
