It sure would be nice to be a fly on the wall in Ex Ranger George McPhee's office .....Vegas has some HUGE decisions to make moving forward . I think if common sense prevails....they won't do much and will battle with what they have already without mortgaging any of their future . I could see Nash wanting to go there but they likely don't want to eat into their asset pile for him .

On his daily segment on TSN 690 today, Pierre McGuire mentioned that if the Rangers shop McD, the Wild would actively pursue him, and mentioned that they have more prospects than the Leafs do, to make it happen.

They definitely have more prospects, but I think the need is just built from the narrative that the Wild want to add every player from Minnesota. They already have a strong blue line. What would they need McDonagh for?

Rangers will trade Nash, Grabner and Holden and maybe DD, that's it.

Everyone dreaming of them cashing in on Mcdonagh and Zucc will be disappointed (even though they should).

I would actively look at Stastny on a 2-3 year deal if he would take it. Would be a real nice 2/3C for this team and provide some insulation for the young guys. He's a good 2-way player. I'd probably offer ~$4.5m over 3 years. I'd probably look at Bozak as well at a lower cap hit if Stastny were not interested. Something like 3 years @ $3.5m. If either came to NY, I would look to trade Hayes or Miller.

I'd also offer Kovalchuk a deal at around 2 years for $6m. Even if he becomes only very effective on the PP, he will still be a 20-25g guy. That's valuable and goals are goals. The team could really use his shot and he would cost nothing but money.

I'd look hard at depth options, assuming none are brought in at this deadline, like Komarov, Roussell, Calvert, Letetstu. Guys who can fill a role as depth guys but play with a bit of an edge (Letestu not included).

That's probably what I would do

Are there any actual legit rumors outside of the fluff we've been reading from the usual suspects?
I hope to catch a Tier 2 Junior game here this weekend and likely will bump into Gerard Gallan't brother....maybe pick his brain and see what he might know or if he has heard via Gerard who they might be looking at . I might come away with nothing...but who knows....he is an entertaining and talkative fellow. If that does not work out...I will check with his sister at the grocery check out at WalMart...wife knows her well . :crossfing

I think most people would be totally fine with this. In saying that, I don't believe most people would be overly surprised if either of those guys are dealt at this deadline either. Seems about 50/50

The Wild make zero sense for McDonagh

Legit the only reason they could be compatible is Mac being from Minnesota

Dumba or Brodin, JEE, and a first

The thing with Kova is that he is older and everything, but what he got is PPQB ability. As good as he was in his prime basically. So mobile and explosive back there, that fierce one-timer. 5 on 5 he is basically a 3rd lineer.

But is it time for us to bring in a RHS for the blueline on the PP now? If we didn’t have one — he would help the kids produce. But now he would just compete with Tony D/Ziba.
And Shattenkirk. I'd almost like to sign him just to see how ridiculous the PP units could be lol.

Kovulchuk? Isn’t he 50? What’s with the obsession with KHL players on this forum? Is there a facepalm meme I can use
What's wrong with the KHL?

Nice..I say interrogate him and lift his cell when he's not looking lol.
The one person I know has absolutely nothing..

Gord Miller, play by play guy for both TSN and MSNBC Sports, was also on TSN 690 today, and said that if he were the Rangers, and McD was being traded to Tampa, he would ask for Sergachev or Brayden Point. If Tampa would say no, he would not trade with them, with the rationale being, that the Rangers don't have to trade him.

That is EXACTLY the way I see it.
We don't need to do any favors for the NYR south.
On top of that, they're going to have a late round 1st so I'd much rather have the player IMO..

I think Zuccarello is a lot more likely to be traded than McDonagh.

I dunno. Seems like a stronger market for wingers heading into the deadline so I have a hard time seeing the Rangers getting what they'd want in a return for Zucc. Then again, maybe their asking price is lower or a team really loves Zuccarello compared to what is out there.

There's a fine line between setting a high asking price and being completely unreasonable. "Overpay or f*** you" is a pretty tough way to facilitate change in an organization that badly needs it.
