100%. This isn't Brad Marchand who is a great player. Rempe doesn't give enough to override being a target for refs. You can bang your head against the wall and cry how unfair it is but in the end it won't matter. Hurting your team because life isn't fair is a dumb AF way to run your team.
Rempe hasn't been targeted by the refs this season/pre season. He wasn't even called for a penalty on the waived off goal. They COULD have called a goalie interference penalty on him if they wanted. I didn't like the waived off goal, it was a judgement call though. Rempe was in the crease, he went there on his own, and he was arguably obstructing the goalie from making a save. He initiated the scrum, by driving into the crease, where Carrick and Ed ended up fighting and if they were targeting him, would have been penalized.
Rempe is still learning the line, but he doesn't bitch and whine at the officials, he's respectful and says the right things, he has a good attitude and it's clear he's trying to keep his game on the right side of the line. He understands now that its okay to miss his man on the check and he doesn't stick out an arm or leg to make contact. Still disrupts the play because opposition players pull up to avoid him and make bad decisions with the puck, and then he's still a huge obstacle to get around if they try to get back in the play. He keeps that up, sure he'll get a few penalties for being "too big" or "too strong," just like Kreider did early on, but he wont be a target. He seems to be finding that sweet spot, BUT it's a long season, guess we shall see.
