AND THEY HAVE NIEVES SITTING IN THE MINORS. What the ****?
I loathe this organization.
You say that as if Nieves is some superstar. He's a 4th line center at best.

Sure, but McLeod a 6th line winger at best. No slot for either right now, so not worth the bellyache. You say that as if Nieves is some superstar. He's a 4th line center at best.
I'm really loving the new Larry Brooks.
This last piece seems theres a bit more to it then speculation.
I think mcdonagh at his cap hit for a year and a half brings back:
-1st round
-1st round
-quality prospect
Zucc should return:
-2nd
-2nd
-middling prospect
I don’t think we’ll be able to get all that for Mcdonagh because every team seems to be so in on the youth and building for the long runMcD will get a top prospect ready to make the jump next year or a very good NHL level player on an ELC plus a first.
With the direction the Rangers are going in, they can retain 50% on both McD and Zucc. Both those guys for 2 playoff runs at a cap hit around $2.25MM? Value will be through the roof.

I don’t think Zucc gets anymore than what we paid for Eric staal.I think Zucc will get a first and a 2nd
I think Colorado would be a good landing spot for McDonagh. They have some solid young assets and three first round picks in the next two drafts. McD and EJ would make a solid first pair.
Why would Colorado want to trade any of their young guys when they’re not anywhere near a contenderI think Colorado would be a good landing spot for McDonagh. They have some solid young assets and three first round picks in the next two drafts. McD and EJ would make a solid first pair.

I don’t think either of those teams are a Defenseman away. Especially Carolina. Carolina is more of a spot for zucc than mcdonaghA team like Carolina has so much youth, they can trade some of it away. Same goes for Winnipeg. There are teams who can afford to trade away bluechip prospects for top-pair defense
Staal was also an elite center who was having a down year. That’d be pretty near zuccarellos productionStaal was a pending UFA.

Good point. Zucc could slot into their 3rd line. They’d have crazy depthTampa seems to be a good trade partner for Zuccarello in my opinion. They should be buyers at the deadline. Get Zuccarello for 1.5 years at 50% retained can be huge for them.
According to Friedman they may be trading Barrie so if they were going that direction I doubt they'd make a trade for McD. Who knows though.
They’re trading Barrie because they don’t want to pay him on his next deal... they’d literally just get the same issue with mcdonaghNot for nothing but he NYR have been linked to Barrie in the past, going back to the MDZ trade. Possible he could come back in the deal.
