Sometimes you need to take a step back to take a step forward. Its been a crutch too long. And Id love Igor back if the AAV was in the 10s, but if he wants the world Drury has no choice but to trade him.

the more i think about it, the more it feels like Drury overplayed his hand here. he tried to get Trouba to waive the full NMC before July 1st, he wouldn't, and then once he knew Detroit wanted to do a deal, put Detroit on his 15 team no trade list yesterday. next season is going to be an absolute mess.

No the trade sucked. We have enough hindsight to allow us to come to that conclusion. 2 of the 4 pieces aren’t even in the NHL, Nils (who they took with the 1st) is the 10th defenseman on Dallas’ depth chart and Howden exists.

I was just saying he got a ton of pieces back for those guys. Not enough even at the time but if you’re looking to fill your pipeline with quantity (and some quality, Hajek sucked but he was highly regarded before the trade) he certainly did that.

He whiffed on those pieces, for that we can shit on him.

Devils deserve to exist in NJ. The Islanders should've relocated 10 years ago. Fledgling franchise with a tiny fanbase in a big market.

If I’m interpreting @Leonardo87 ’s message correctly, what he’s saying is incredibly powerful and important.

We have spent too much energy just simply bashing one single player, and instead we should be rationing our resources carefully to ensure as many players as possible get bashed, at all times.

That's nice to hear. And would've been nice if the veterans of the team had done the same for our NHL ready (or "NHL ready") prospects like Lias, Chytil, Kakko, Lafreniere etc. Because we know for a fact that didn't happen. Kids hanged out by themselves, while veterans had their own clique.

Then again, that was under Gorton, so who knows if it might have been different under Drury back then.

Mika and Panarin too busy making backhand passes and business decisions to help Kakko get settled. I gotta say, we've heard a lot about "the locker room" not liking how things were handled with veterans, but these young guys we drafted didnt get half the loyalty from coaches and the front office that the core guys have.

That is because he probably wanted to make the deal and open up cap space before free agency began. Maybe he wanted one of the higher tier wingers that were overpaid in yesterday's frenzy. It didn't work out which actually may be fine looking at the prices paid yesterday.

Bo Groulx could barely crack the Ducks roster, so take it for what it's worth.

We have not addressed any weakness. We are going to go in with 2 trainwrecks getting top4 minutes on defense.

Who knows, maybe this lights a fire under some guys.... they take it serious and train like they're professional athletes in the summer. Has Trouba ever worked on explosiveness, skating or foot speed in the past 5 years?
